Now that the tenth recycled review is out there it needs to be said! Congrats on the 10th installment Roy! 150 bottles reviewed! Yes you're not churning out a video each week, but nobody minds! The originality, creativity and depth of your videos can only be a testament to the energy you put in this channel. Thoroughly enjoyed each one of them, and there's lot's a value in these sub 30 minutes videos. No chit-chatting, no 'shenanigans', just freakishly solid content! Plus the fact you even inspired other channels to copy this format says enough in itself! Keep doing what you're doing, you're great at it! Aqvavitae, the true pope of whisky evangelizing ;) Like, subscribe, support on patreon, all truly and well deserved!

I'm always excited to see recycled reviews pop up. A good mix of obtainable and lesser knowns like Ben Nevis, Alisa Bay and Vega. Fantastic as usual. Being in the States, Heels please wont help me much, but I did watch until the end. Favorite blooper, visitors stay away, hahaha, that's great stuff Roy!

Just picked up a bottle of Graigellachie 23. When it was Scotts #1 whiskey also I had to get a bottle. WOW what a dram!!! Here in CA it was just over $200 which is the top end of what I like to spend on whiskey. But I’m going to buy a backup bottle before its gone. Thank you for the review. Great stuff. Slainte.

I agree with your point about Jura having gone a bit downhill, and fair enough talking about the Whyte and Mackay range. Just to stick up for Fettercairn though, I think they are becoming the pick of the bunch among those distilleries and are doing some really interesting stuff (see recently 16 and 22 year old releases). I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are on the new Fettercairn range Roy

Thoroughly enjoying these. Roy, regarding the 44% Jura, do you think odd abv like that could ever be due to them deciding that they have a certain volume in a batch and at 46% it would be a few cases just shy of a full number of pallets (or perhaps bottles shy of a case) and so forth, so they do the math and dilute to get a full number of pallets? That's cynical, of course, but I've wondered if things can be explained like that? I've been staying away from Dalmore and Jura, perhaps instinctively. The geek in me wants to try every distillery, every island, every region, but the miser in me keeps me from being disappointed too much.

Great bunch of whiskies, Roy. I was tickled pink to see that Ledaig 11yo in there and to hear your very appreciative comments about it. Not sure if there's any of it left on the market, but The Single Malts of Scotland released an updated Ledaig 13yo last year (Sherry Butt, 57.3%, 627 bottles), which I snapped up immediately and boy, was I glad I did. It's a belter. Dirty Ledaig at its best. Many thanks for this excellent review, Roy - and commiserations to your liver! Cheers.

I have been a fan of your recycle reviews. I discovered High Coast Whisky from Sweden recently and found that the qualities are good. They do not have age statements on their whiskies, but they release all the cask information including fill date, empty date, volume, ratio, etc. on their website. Talking about transparency, they "can" do a better job than Compass Box because they are not bottling "Scotches". I tasted a bottle of Timmer, which has a clean fruity taste with good amount of peat smoke, and the rubber bandage finish remind me of Longrow. Please give it a try.

Cheers Roy! I feel your pain about Whyte and Mckay. It's currently owned by this conglomerate from my country (Emperador Inc. out of the Philippines) who are more focused on having a diverse portfolio rather than the quality of product. They're pushing Dalmore, Jura and Tamnavulin really hard here in the local market, but for the quality (as you've accurately observed with your reviews of Dalmore and Jura), I'd rather buy myself better malt from Deanston, Laphroaig, or Arran.

Excellent review, Roy! Although I have not had many older Deanstons, I preferred the 12 to the 18, and the Virgin Oak was OK. I would not go for Deanston 18 again. Could mine have been an older bottling? I don't know. Of all the bottles you showed, I have only had four of them. I enjoyed the PaulJohn Edited and had their Bold, which tasted to me like dark chocolate and Tic Tac mints. I have a bottle of their Brilliance that I haven't opened yet... Highland park 18 was OK when I had it some time ago. It was the older bottling without all the Viking hype attached to it. To be honest, it was a good whisky but I preferred the Dark Origins, and I know where I can still get some! Ardbeg 10 is a classic. I would have some on my bar, but with things like Laphroaig Brodir, Ardbeg Dark Cove, Bunnahabhain Moine Marsala, and Port Charlotte MC:01 taking up all the space, my Islay section runneth over! Auchentoshan American Oak is, as far as I can tell, the replacement for the old Classic of which I had a bottle five or six years ago, and it was excellent. I happen to like the current American Oak as the purest form of Auchentoshan available. I prefer it to the three wood, and both editions of the Bartender's Malt were just wonderful... I will be going through the rest of the core range of Auchentoshan in the near future; the 18, the 12, and the Virgin Oak... Slainte Mhath!

It just struck me that, after 10 of these videos, I have spent several hours of my life watching someone take out the rubbish and talk about what's in it ... and enjoyed it thoroughly. What a curious thing whisky is! :D Regarding Highland Park: The standard 12yo was one of the first whiskies I started my journey with (about 4 years ago) - and it was great at that. But since then I haven't ever really connected with any of their original bootlings anymore. However, I came across a couple of absolutely stunning independent HPs (none of them with HP mentioned, but I know the guys who made them). Definitely something to look out for if you are frustrated with the official HP bottlings. PS: Heels please!

superb reviews Roy. Spot on about Highland Park (another distillery in the Edrington Group). They seem to be doing exactly as they have done with Macallan. The amount of new NAS whiskys being churned out at Highland Park, I have lost count. If they just focused on the whisky, rather than all this Viking/Scandinavian bottling nonsense. Its sad to see. Will pick up the AnCnoc 24 this year, its my new favourite local distillery! The vintage 2001 was the quickest I have ever gone through a bottle before, lovely hints of apple and vanilla. Too easy to drink. Also well done on 11,000 subs!!

Having been a lover of Jura's and HP's malts soon after setting out on my whisky journey some years ago, I have to agree entirely with your comments on both. Out of all the bottles in our cabinet today, these are probably the ones least likely to generate that "I fancy a..." feeling. Part of that, arguably, is that in having developed my palate to a degree, exploring higher ABVs, different levels and qualities of peat etc, I've "outgrown" them in a sense - but it's more than that. These distilleries are guilty, in my opinion, of either trying too hard, or not hard enough with their core ranges. On a side note, it was an absolute joy to meet yourself and Scott in the Pot Still recently. Two of the warmest, most down-to-earth, and generous guys one could hope to encounter in a Glasgow 'local.' Thanks again, and next time First Round is our shout!

Another Great Line up of Bottle Kills , there is something about these reviews they are captivating , the music , the chat about each bottle , the pop of cork , the bottle spin , I wonder how many you have dropped Roy ? , and the drop of glass bottle in the bin . I see good things from these reviews , ive read my tea leafs lol Heels Please !! well done Roy
