For me, he sounded best on the two extremes, the leggera and the estrema. Both different sounds! I actually prefered the leggera, i think the added overtones blended well with his mouthpiece and concept. The estrema has that special sound (from the big bell i presume). For me, with his C cup mouthpiece, the leggera wins! WIth a lead piece it's probably bright bright bright

This is a great comparison video, thanks for making it. Does the bell wire or lack there of impact the focus or response more? I've played 'rimless' bells before and didn't really enjoy them as the felt quite `loose'.

Bells without a wire have less articulation and have a sound pattern that goes more around the bell then forward. They also start the vibration with less energy and have a much more vibrant sound. It's not better or worse than bells with a wire or bells without a rim altogether, like the Conn Vocabell. It's all about taste and needs, as with everything in life :)
