Any gun in my house is _secured_ unless I leave the door unlocked. You can argue about thieves 'til you turn blue, but nobody is locking up ALL their valuables every time they leave the house. Or do you have a TV safe? As for worrying about being prepared for thieves being armed when you enter your own house, you should probably worry about that regardless if they might be armed with your gun, their own, or someone else's. I'm not coming home to strangers in my house and breathing easy because I know they might not have my gun....

I disagree. I believe owning a gun holds certain ethical responsibilities that don't apply to most other property. Kind of like owning a dog or an aircraft.
@ob1coyote14 күн бұрын
@@ARFCOMNews But if someone stole your car and killed a bus full of school children then you're magically absolved for not taking every extra precaution you possibly could have? All of a sudden standard door locks and a factory alarm were all you felt were necessary. The ethical responsibility you have with a dog and an aircraft are related to how YOU use them. Not being responsible for how someone would use them if they could take them from you. How many people actually blame United and American airlines for 9/11? Sure, a few people that could profit from a law suit, but relatively no one else.
@mouseshadow-f5k14 күн бұрын
The security aspect I think most will miss with this statement is the education of arms early in life. In general, ANYONE entering without your express permission is hostile and a direct threat, and our society doesn't open carry socially like it did way back. A go bag is secure, corner double barrel behind the chair is secure, the .45 on the shelf above the front door is secure, the .40 with gorilla grounders under your pillow is secure. The ownership/living rights of the property is the first layer. We as a society say yeah, you can have stuff and people can't just take it or otherwise interfere with said person/place. Then structures and general concealment. I mean, yeah there's a banquet table of guns laid out, but the good stuff gets presented. Kick holster in the wall/beam/piano is nice, but in modern times get a nice voice command ceiling drop: barrier and extra happy friendly greeting. You could even add a drone for confusion and covered tracking. Good times. If your guns are all gathered up in a safe, they just steal the safe and your plasma torch and trolly. Oh, bio-lock the safety is one i forgot. Firearm knocked down to a whacking stick, still dangerous, but not as much. Can't believe I forgot about the bio locks, I love judge dredd

If the criminal has already broken in the jig is up. The bagged handgun in the toilet tank is just as likely to not be found as the collection in the safe is to not be stolen-either the whole safe, or from the cut open safe door, curtousy of the power tools a lot of gun owners also have. @@barfo281 actually commiting a crime is justification to remove one's rights. This is best done by armed self defense, but if an aggressor survives but is subsequently apprehended, he has lost his rights and until such consequences society has established through the publishing of laws are fulfilled, the aggressor exists in a state without those narrowly defined rights. By definition, he is not free, though the scope of which specific rights he has forfeited must be proportionate to the crime the aggressor has committed. Professing general support for a combatant in a foreign war is not terrorism. Actually enumerating a plan for specific acts of violence, or actually disseminating propaganda in support of specific acts of violence is a crime. Both civil law and military law penalize planning to commit violence against non-combatants, which is terrorism.
