When I think of an IFAK, I think of it as aid for others or for others to use on me. It's hard to imagine someone performing first aid on themselves after getting jacked up in a fire fight! I don't fully comprehend how an IFAK is supposed to be something you do for youself? Could you imagine trying to place a chest seal on yourself while you're literally incapacitated? The most an injured individual would be able to do is apply a tourniquet to an arm or leg and even that is doubtful if the damage is extremely severe! I don't think a lot of people fully comprehend this.

The whole concept of the IFAK is that 'chance favors the prepared'! What if you still had enough adrenaline pumping through your body that you *could* place your own chest seal? Or there were friendlies in the area that could do it for you because you're unconscious or stunned? Only by being prepared will you be able to take advantage of the chances you're given; it's about playing the odds, and doing or having what you need to so the odds are stacked in your favor...
