Nice work, Mr. Easy on the Eyes and Ears Arab Dad. Let me just put in a plug for the merch here: VERY high quality tee shirt. Fellow commenters/subscribers: if you haven't gotten one ... get one. Or more. We need a Ya Hmar baseball cap, please.

When I was in the first grade (6 years old) our teacher read Greek mythology to us every afternoon that had all the rape censored out. It was utterly incomprehensible because nonconsensual sex is pretty much the only motivation the Greek gods have. In our censored version, the gods just ran after nymphs for no reason, like they were playing tag. Thank you for putting me to sleep and for revealing to me what an incel Poseidon was.

Larry the Cat doesn't need his own channel, but, if ever you are at a loss for content, I (and, quite possibly many others) would enjoy a video of Larry being Larry, whether bloopers or purring or many other things. As for "poplar", if I heard right, and was paying enough attention, they're trees. I think some sort of tree with sort of broad leaves that fall off as the weather cools down. (I am Not a botanist)

Some people have a great fear of deep or open water, it's a phobia called, 'thalassophobia'. Thalassa, Greek for sea, and of course, phobia for fear. The average depth of the ocean is 4km / 12000 feet, I've no idea what could be so scary about that....
@Nocturnal_Asteria8 ай бұрын
I've never seen the ocean, but just thinking of all that water makes me break out in a cold sweat.
@Maree_CK8 ай бұрын
@@Nocturnal_Asteria understandable but it really is something amazing to see; even from land, to see only the ocean in front of you, to where it creates the horizon with the sky. To be in deep open water is somewhat unnerving but also gives you feelings of insignificance, freedom and calmness. Well, it does for me anyway.

Where my mother is from, we are surrounded by the sea. We don’t love it, and we don’t hate it. Our lives depended on it some of us thrived and survived, and some of us didn’t make it because the sea took their lives. I respect the sea, I see its beauty and I can see what it can do. how it shapes the coastline and influences in land. It feeds the land it feeds the people, but it could also cause destruction. the people who depend on the sea have to be able to read it and have this relationship with it because their life depends on it.

I honestly like the mic set up you use for your shorts more than this mic set up, I actually get more ASMR from those vs your actual Asmr videos lol. Something about your voice in the shorts is more bassy and resonant. Maybe it’s just that this setup has more sound dampening and there’s more room echo in the shorts, and the echo actually makes the voice sound fuller? Idk I can quite put my finger on it, and tbh I end up falling asleep to these videos anyway so mission accomplished, I just can’t help wishing the Habibi Spice audio ended up sounding closer to the arab dad shorts audio. Also thanks for the videos pls never stop or I’ll go back to failing at sleep which would bring shame upon my family

Ah, Arab Dad, you're reading my country's myths! Which book are you reading? There are some errors. I grew up with these stories, and continued to study and write about them. We still live with our myths. And yes, Poseidon was quite toxically masculine, but he also provided for our needs with the bounty from the sea. All the gods, male and female, had both good and terrible sides. Love your podcast.
