I will add something about Angelina's "genius"...in western culture the word "genius" has applied more to technology than to art. As I have experienced Angelina's art, I would characterize her art as so intangible that it borders on the transcendent. For us mere mortals her arrangements appear unique, simple, "genius", but for me her "genius" begins with her real-time interpretation of lyrics and the emotional content as she sings the story...she just "knows" from moment to moment how to connect us to the lyrics in a way that cannot be explained with words...only emotions.

It lifts the sole. In medieval literature where they talk about the Bards of old it was known as the "Halo Effect" when a singer can elicit such emotion it's like standing within the halo of an angel. The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins - the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the Piano Player is Rob Christie Director of the Republic Records Los Angeles Studio which is the record label that Angelina has been signed with since she was 14 years old.

Not sure if you know that even though she is from Norway, Angelina has been referred to by many fans as a 'Persian Princess', for her maternal grandmother, renowned artist and poet Mery Zamini, is her- self Persian. She is extremely prodigious, as her granddaughter is, having recited her poetry on 'Radio Iran' when she was 4 years old.

Angelina draws you in so you are waiting in anticipation for the next word, the next syllable to come out of her mouth. Suddenly the lyrics that you had heard thousands of times before seem fresh and you realize that you are feeling the lyrics with a new depth. Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Angelina’s sister Juliet sitting there, she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. In one episode they Interviewed a Doctor who said he actually prescribes listening to Angelina Jordan to improve their health. The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

Absolutely phenomenal arrangement and performance from our barefoot Viking, the first two little girls in the video are Angelina’s cousins her Managers children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s Grandma Mery Zamani who is a talented Iranian artist and poet, the pianist is two times Grammy Award winner Rob Christie the musical director of Republic Records who Angelina signed with at 14 years old, Angelina paying tribute to Elvis with her red guitar 🎸 and Pricilla Presley hair style, Cover of a Cover as the original artist Mark James who wrote and recorded Suspicious Minds didn’t achieve with his original, great reaction thanks 🙏

People who have not heard Elvis' rendition need to hear at least a good portion of it (it's long), to really appreciate what Angelina has done with this. It's stunning and really conveys the true meaning and emotions of this song. Breathtaking. Such a loving tribute to one of her recorded mentors, Elvis.
