ALWAYS put Teflon tape on “every” thread most especially the plunger threads that hold the packing. And put a stainless screw in the frog. This prevents corrosion. And makes it way easier to disassemble later for repairs. If you don’t you will break the plunger before you unscrew it to replace the packing

You don’t have too but Teflon really helps when you take it apart a year later. Without the corrosion on the threads are so bad you can not unscrew it

I am having a heck of a time right now getting that bottom piece on the plunger to unscrew All rusted up and now I have it in my electrolysis bucket. Most likely will have to order a new plunger too... :(

I tried several penetrating sprays and even heat and could not separate the plunger. I had buy a new one after breaking the old
