As a guy with a true long oval head, this helmet is exactly what I was needing. All day comfortable, and vents extremely well. It's not noisy, but not ultra quiet. The pinlock does a great job of keeping the visor from fogging. Easy to install my comm system in. Great helmet, and worth the money.

Just bought this helmet. I love it. It's my 3rd helmet, the other 2 didn't fit right and gave me the worst headaches. This is perfect. I was super unsure about spending this much money on a helmet but to have it fit this well and be such a safe helmet I'm extremely happy. There are very few other long oval helmets.

It is so cool, the depth and the discussion you provide with regards to all the helmets. I have the same measurement of head as do you Brian. It is weird because in a fitted Baseball hat, I take a 7 and 5/8 size. I am also prone to migraine headaches made much more frequent and painfull by a motorcycle accident back in 1996, have tinnitus from it as well, (two skull fractures and three broken vertebra in my neck---which they didn't even diagnose, found out from a follow-up visit to a Neurologist regarding the headaches, first thing the Lady said, You had a broken neck, News to me, but I wondered why it hurt, the pain wasn't comparable to the headache---it was constant for about 18 days the hemotoma drained out my ear that day and was huge relief. ) I went into detail to show just how important it really is to have a PROPERLY FITTING HELMET!!! (Also to pay close attention to little old ladies who make left turns right in front of oneself, then saying those FOUR WORDS NO Rider EVER wants to hear---"I DID N'T SEE HIM!!! Be well everyone!!

For anyone that is interested... I put a cardo slim on mine. It was not easy it fits okay not great. The battery/ communication part is absolutely in the way of the back neck vent. I squished it on there but a lot of people would not be okay with that installation. Additionally if you have not watched the Arai's video on how to take your linings out of the helmet and put them back in do that before you install any kind of comms system in this helmet it is not very intuitive as to how to do it. First time I did it, the pads weren't in the right place and I could barely get my helmet on. HTH.

Rebecca, thank you for commenting. I too have a Cardo Packtalk Slim and was wondering how hard it would be to install on this model Arai. How did the speakers fit into the cheek pads? The JBL speakers are larger than normal and I was wondering. I like a clean look and may end up getting a new Cardo. Thanks!

@@CorgiDaddy This is a compromise situation. The slim is definitely clean looking on the side of the helmet compared to the bold but the fitment / look on the outside in the back is not what I would call a clean look! Possibly in hindsight I might have liked the bold better. There are some wires that don't have a nice home to sit in with my install and for some people that may be completely unacceptable. I do not have any complaints or difficulties with the fit of the speakers inside. I do have a crazy amount of wind noise in my helmet which has nothing to do with the helmet or the speaker so sometimes I cannot hear that well. My wind noise has to do with my bike, it's naked. And the different windscreens I've used.

I never knew I was a long oval unit I was trying on a bunch of helmets at STG and tried on the Signet X. It fit so well I had no option not to buy it! The fit is amazing and the helmet quality is outstanding. Buying from STG is always a good experience.

If you have a long oval head you need to buy one of these. I suffered from forehead pressure spot pain for years before trying one of these. No pain at all now. It is pricey but when you look at it closely and wear it you see and feel the quality they put into it. I have worn a white one for like 6 years and just bought two more of the new Signet X M2020 (Snell certification) and they fit just as well as the old one did when it was new. Plain white one is less expensive but the graphic models they now have look pretty sharp.

Great review as always! I just got this helmet from STG and have put around 300 miles on it. I have a major problem with this helmet. It fits my head great but at highway speeds it blows jets of air right into my eyes. I’ve tried closing all vents and nothing fixes it. It’s to the point where eyes get dry and start watering and it’s really a distraction to focusing on the road. I’ve seen a couple customer reviews that mention this but it’s not something you realize until you actually ride in it. This is my first Arai and I really like their commitment to safety, but I don’t feel safe riding in this helmet because of the eye irritation. It’s only been 300 miles but I’ll probably dump it on CL and just take a massive loss. If you’re considering this helmet, find some way to test the airflow before you ride in it (maybe head out a car window or something). Doesn’t seem like everyone has this issue, but at least you’ll be able to return it if you have the same problem I do.

Thanks for the business and sorry to hear about this. Please shoot us an email and we will try to help you sort this out. My first question is how well does the helmet fit? If the helmet it too large it will not seal up well around the neck. Also I would suggest taking a look at how well the shield seals against the gasket. If you are getting air into the helmet with all the vents closed perhaps the shield is not sealing properly. If this is the case it can be adjusted easily. - Van

Sportbike Track Gear Thanks for the reply and suggestions. I measure 58.5 cm and I got a medium. It fits snug with no pressure points. I don’t think I can go any smaller as it gets too hard to put on. I played around with the helmet over the weekend and it’s better now. The space between my chin and the chin bar is much greater than in my AGV and Scorpion helmets. The air seems to be flowing into here and up into my face. I added some bits of foam to the cheek pads towards my chin and I added some foam to the chin curtain to build up its thickness. This has cut back on the airflow a lot to the point where it’s manageable.

Update: After working with STG we tried a few things and adjusting the face shield to get a tighter seal with the gasket seems to have done the trick!

Guys it's kind of hard to tell on the video but the release to get the visor off, is the same little black releases you use to get the covers off that's what pops the visor off.

I made the mistake of going with a HJC. With my last helmet. Dont get me wrong. HJC makes a decent helmet. Just for me. It has never been that comfortable or cool on hot days. My first helmet was an Arai. Going back

My dealer told me yesterday the helmets does not getting bigger with a inbuild dropdown sunshield. I rether watch youtube as go back to our dealers…. its a shame this guys and gurls in shops here is for some people everything for safety. He was about to give me helmet what does not fit my head. He does no measure and he also said: „helmets with different shapes do not exist.“

Arai will not make a helmet with a drop down inner shield. They do offer the external Pro Shield which is a drop down that is on the outside of the helmet and attaches to the shield. - Van

Sorry to say the difference in the interior helmet shape is done with the eps and not the padding. Your best bet is to sell the one you have an get the Signet-X. - Van

Bryan how do you reinstall emergency release system after removing cheekpads in that manner. I can't figure it out and unfortunately followed your instructions to get to speaker pockets not relealizing that method for cheekpad removal should only be for emergencies. Sorry for the slow response, we were away finishing the MotoAmerica season. The only difference when removing and reinstalling the cheek pads using the emergency release is you will need to tuck the red fabric loops back into the cheek pads before you place them back in the helmet. - Van

Arai and Shoei are both a cut above the HJC. With that said they are also much more expensive. Between Arai and Shoei it comes down to which one fits you the best as they are both top shelf helmets. - Van

I’ve had all 3 brands. HJC is much lower quality than Shoei or Arai... even more than quality is how a helmet fits YOU.... wear it at least 15 minutes and see if you start to feel pain in certain areas (hot spots). Once you know your head type, you need to consider removable padding,vents, shield type, visibility, anti-fog, shell construction, and other features.... foundational is your head type....I am a long oval.
