When it comes to motorcycle helmets, Arai is a name that is synonymous with excellence. As a follow-up to their industry-leading older siblings, the Signet-X and the Quantum-X helmets come to the game positioned for the street rider looking to get the most out of their miles. Both the Signet-X and Quantum-X are built with Peripherally Belted - Super Complex Laminate Construction for performance and affordability. Both helmets also feature VAS (variable axis system) shield systems which allows shield opening and closing with the 24mm lower shield mount position. Additional features include a VAS Max Vision face shield, cheek pads with emergency release tabs, and a removable neckroll.

Good video. I just recently bought this helmet to replace my old Profile. There's one thing I feel I should mention about this video. Arai says in their manual not to directly pull the chin cover out as was shown at 9:40. Instead, they say to rotate it 2cm to the left, then pull. Otherwise, the clips inside could be broken. Just a heads up for those who own or plan on owning this helmet...

I've had Shoei helmets before I bought a Signet-Q. My long oval head shape makes the Signet's fit perfect for me. The eyebrow vents are amazing when it's hot outside. Never once did I notice any whistling with the outgoing model. I'm glad to see a removable chin curtain being added in this new version. I'll be sticking to this lid for many many years to come. I do wish Arai was more adventurous with their color schemes and designs like Icon is.

I’m intermediate oval and the quantum still fit pretty comfortable, the signet was a little tight on the sides. So if you’re looking for one of these as an intermediate oval and don’t like the look of the defiant x the quantum might just do it for you

I love my RF-1200, it looks great and very comfortable but Im digging all the little upgrades these Arai's have over the Shoei. I guess its the next step up.

I have 2 RX-Q's that have been like pillows on my head, but the Quantum-X didn't fit at all, I had such a bad pressure point on my forehead and had to move to the Signet-X. The Corsair-X was about the same fit as the Quantum-X.

I just got my quantum x about 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering if there's a real noticeable difference between the quantum x and the Japanese quantum j? I'm Asian myself and my head is really round. I found that the quantum x really was pushing the sides of my head in to where it was very uncomfortable. I was actually debating if I wanted to return it or not but tried to break it in as best I could. I decided I had to take some foam out of the liner by the temples and that did relieve some pressure. I knew my head was really round going into looking for helmets but it seems like the quantum x is the only option for round helmets in the US.

I can't remember the brand, but when I was searching for snowboarding helmets a while back, one had a standard version and an "Asian fit" version. Maybe it was a Smith helmet. I didn't even know what that was so I had to look it up, wasn't aware that Asian people had rounder heads. My head is super oval so the signet-x fits perfectly for me.

I fit perfect on a medium with the shoei qwest. I'm assuming a medium in the quantum x would be a good match? Or should I go with a small?

I found that the Signet Q was the only helmet that fit my head. Is the X an exact copy in shape to the Q? If not, can you recommend another helmet that has that extreme oval shape? I heard maybe the Simpson Ghost Bandit. Thanks for the great video!

which would be quieter? the signet Q pro tour, or the signet X? ive read about people that went from the signet q to the x and said the x was louder despite the "upgrades"... none of the things i read mentioned the pro tour model exactly, but they are pretty much the same as the base Q

I have found both to be pretty average for noise. It all depends on your own head shape and how each helmet fits your head, especially around the cheeks and ears. -DrewZilla

Both are designed for upright to 3/4 riding positions, so it really comes down to fit. The RF-1200 is a true intermediate oval, while the Signet-X has a longer oval fit. -DrewZilla

While you CAN install the Slim on the Quantum-X, I would recommend the BOLD for an easier installation. -DrewZilla

No, it's different. The Quantum-J seems to be the Asia-market equivalent of the previous-generation Arai RX-Q. Like the RX-Q, the Quantum-J appears to use the older-style forehead vents and the SAI face shield. The Quantum-X is closest to the current Astral-X. Keep in mind that the Asia-market helmets tend to have a rounder internal shape than the more oval shapes for the US market. -DrewZilla

I dont understand why arai wouldnt make a version of these for the intermediate head shape.. the defiant lacks some of these features and the corsair is too racey/airy for what i need which means loud. Whats the deal?

Just curious, have you measured your head? I always thought I was intermediate, but im actually really oval. I got a large signet-x and it fits perfect. If I remember correctly I think my head was 8.25 long and 6.25 wide, so about 25% longer than wide.

Anybody got any idea of the volume difference between this lid and something like a Shoei X-14/X-Spirit III?

I don't have an exact figure, but I just compared the two in the showroom-- the X-14 is noticeably more compact. Both helmets are balanced so well that I don't think it would matter, but the Shoei will give you less bobblehead-ness. -Kraus-e

Arai has always focused on shell safety and balance more than noise reduction, so the Shoei might be slightly quieter. However, I will say that the Signet-X and Quantum-X are indeed quieter than previous Arais. -DrewZilla

Pearl Black is closest to a standard gloss black. Diamond Black is a gloss black with metallic flecks in the paint for a light sparkle. Black Frost is a flat matte black. -DrewZilla

I just got this helmet (for my odd shaped helmet lol) and I got the pinlock screen too. In general, should they always be in? Or does it depend on the weather?

It's best to leave it in all the time. Since they're more delicate than the outer face shield, installing and removing it a lot will weaken the seal between the Pinlock insert and the face shield over time. -DrewZilla

Hi, so my girlfriend gave me this helmet as a birthday present but its a little too small. I’m usually size small but the helmet is xs is there a way to make it fit a little better?

If it's too tight in the cheeks, you can get thinner cheek pads. If it's too tight around the crown of the head, though, then unfortunately there aren't any thinner head liners for the size XS. They are a slight upgrade from the RF-1200, though I mainly recommend these helmets if your head is rounder than (Quantum-X) or longer than (Signet-X) the RF-1200's intermediate oval shape. -DrewZilla

All you fortunate people out there with intermediate-round heads, you get to pick any helmet from 150 dollars to 800 dollars. The long-oval types? About one brand and one lid, costing north of 600. Please Scorpion, HJC, Bell......BUILD A LONG-OVAL MODEL under 500!!

Depending on how long an oval your head shape is, you might be able to get away with a Bell Star, Icon Airframe Pro, or an LS2 helmet. -DrewZilla

If anything it’s gotten even worse for round oval... Apparently everyone but the vocal (whether by making noise, or with their dollars) majority of intermediate oval, which I know isn’t a super accurate representation of ALL of the motorcycling population in the US (otherwise they brands would’ve be tinkering with the fit and the marketing etc all the time in the first place, right?) is supposed to be satisfied mostly with dwindling options and padding these days...

The DT-X has an intermediate oval fit compared to the long oval Signet-X and rounder oval Quantum-X. The DT-X also has a single forehead vent compared to the dual forehead vents on the Signet-X and Quantum-X. Finally, the DT-X has 4 shells across the size range (XS, SM, MD-LG, XL-2XL) compared to 5 shells (XS, SM, MD-LG, XL, 2XL-3XL) for the other two. -DrewZilla

He haven't done much full testing on the Schuberth, but based on its design, it should likely be quieter than these two Arais. However, the Arais meet the Snell safety standard in addition to the DOT standard, while the R2 is only DOT-rated. -DrewZilla

For the extra money, you get Arai's design philosophy for safety. Arai designs a rounder shell with breakaway vents, in order to reduce opportunities for the shell to get hung up on anything in an impact. They also use a face shield pivot design that's outside the shell. This allows for more EPS foam around the ears for better impact protection in those areas. If you agree with Arai's design choices, then you might want the Quantum-X or Signet-X. You might also want the more affordable DT-X, which shares those design choices. this helmet seemed awesome till he started pulling it apart, that thing will never fit back in the same way again after tearing all those pieces out and washing them... looks so cheap inside... I have a cheapo hjc that looks much more finished inside than that... that thing looks awful! looks like cheap seat covers over plain cut foam pieces... my cheapo HJC has formed foam pieces with the covers actually fitted and sewn on... here's Revzillas review on the HJC, look how much better the shield changes and how much nicer the internals are! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXynZ3-Fq9egjZI I wish HJC made a long oval!
