Jagex's intention in allowing you to choose not to get loot for double pet chance is for pet hunters to not tank the value of uniques, so the double pet option still giving unique rolls defeats the purpose. Not saying I agree with them, but the biweekly reddit post saying "PET HUNTERS RUIN MID LEVEL BOSS GP" is why they did it this way.

So zammy hasta might be a bit better DPS over the Macuahuitl, but it does not one-shot the mirrorbacks. From the wiki: "Players will always max hit when attacking them with a crush weapon if crush is their highest accuracy style". So with Hasta you don't max hit the mirrorbacks, because stab is your highest stat, where the Macuahuitl does max hit them.

You can one shot the reflect spider with heavy ballista, you lose the inv slot, but no timing required. Probably is a touch slower tho.

Avoid mage. It's shit. If you are tbowing, range against the green spider if ignoring. Araxxor still melees though.

i am doing better with bandos and a cudgel then i am my full masori f with tbow. the 5tick attack speed is just to slow for me at this boss or maybe i need more practice idk. tbow did really bad against the small spiders took like 5 tbow hits to kill each one

I think you kind of undersold the benefit of having the halberd in the game now. yes its the same dps as a saeldor, however its price is not inflated to that of a bowfa. that means long term players are going to actually have a nice progresion curve of whip/tent (1.5m) > Zombie axe (2m) > halberd (50-75m) > SRA (400m) > Scythe (1.5b). it also frees irons from having to do another 400 CG for a good melee weapon. i 100% agree about the range minion thoug, its way too easy to ignore and the melee is way to slow to actually have any real threat. its a slayer boss but those mechanics could use a little more to them

oh and using a ballista on the mirror minnion is useful as it doesnt reflect range damage at all so you dont need to bother with venge runes / timing. you can reliably do 3 swings on the boss , switch to range and kill it , do 2 more swings then dodge the next special

Elder maul is more accurate, also has a high max hit, and can be used against the mini spiders to one shot them if you want. Also another commenter stated there is a defense drain cap, and the maul fully drains it, whereas a bgs would need to hit a 40 or so to achieve the same effect. (Unsure if that part is true)

Found early its capped at 90def from 135, elder maul is guaranteed to drain to that, bgs isn't going to hit as often and will not guarantee that drain if it does roll accuracy. 1k hp also makes defence drain good he said somewhere too which makes sense to me

It's poison cerb pretty much, but for what it is.... I think it's a good update. It's a slayer boss so right off the bat you shouldn't think peak sweat mechanics, you should think slayer boss mechanics. I do agree Raxx should've maybe been 85 or so slayer in it's current state but, if they update it in the future... maybe add Araxxi in there À la Phosani's nightmare. More/different mechanics making it a harder encounter for more slayer exp, better drop table and maybe throw in a pet cosmetic for the pet heads. But that's just like, my opinion man. I'm having fun with it so far, it's just enough to keep it slightly more engaging when training slayer, like most slayer bosses are and imo should be. I think adding Araxxi in there as an optional boss would be really cool.
