I love this new solution for my needs. I've run the Pro Eagle 2-ton jacks in the past on my Prerunner trucks, but they weigh a ton, and since I mount them in the bed because of their bulk/size, I use the locking mount, but this exposes it to the elements. In addition, due to the rattling/harsh vibration from off roading, I've had the jack lever interface pin rattle loose, and parts rust from the elements. This will fit inside, maybe with some anti-rattle Velcro straps and it will last rust free for years. Great review BTW.

This jack is much smoother than a ratcheting farmer jack; much more control. Yes it is expensive but better tools always cost more. Only con I’ve seen is it can be sluggish in cold weather.

Agree with all the positives. Great jack. Only negatives (not deal breakers): 1. The force necessary to collapse, I have to stand on it. 2. No accessory for safely attaching to a jack point. Like the cradles for the farm jack for use on a rock rail.

Awesome demonstration and selling points. I totally agree w/the price but in a marriage, it's an agreement between both when there is something that cost that much and it is rarely used. I'll have her watch the presentation but again, can it was or dry clothes. And, no I'm not hen pecked, it keeps us honest when spending that kind of $$$. Still wanting and I am saving but, we just bought a 2020 Gladiator to add to our 2 other jeep Wranglers [JL]. 🤠

Question: The provided instructions say not to store the ARB Jack on its side or it will leak. Yet they are all shipped on their side. They also are stored on their side at the distribution warehouse and in delivery trucks. Mine arrived covered in oil because of these reasons. Further, how are we to store the Jack outside the vehicle if it comes in a storage bag that is without mounting hardware and which causes one to assume that the Jack is to be stored IN the vehicle, where it almost always can only be stored on its side, because of its height? Why isnt there mounting hardware specific to the Jack, designed/sold by ARB that is 1) meant to be mounted on exterior and that, 2) incorporates theft resistant features (e.g. lockable hardware)? I'm in the states. These are very popular here but that is changing quickly. I just returned from the Overland Expo and my question above, includes the 2 most heard complaints about this product and are the reasons why so many are now turning to other products. The number 1 complaint however: storing this on its side should not allow oil to leak/this is a very poor design feature! I love ARB but this is money I'm now seeing that was poorly spent, due to an incomplete design and a lack of mounting options, which ARB should've addressed prior to releasing this product. ARB, please address these 3 things, or I fear ARB will see this products interest lose steam. ARB is a solid company but the mark was missed on this one big time.

They must had updated the instructions because it says that it can be stored sideways and just like what this video indicates around the 9:25 mark, as long as the release lever is not pressed accidentally, it won't leak. I think having a 3D printed/molded plastic lock to insert onto the jack to prevent the lever from depressing is the way to go for added insurance.

What’s the operating temperature of this jack? And what type of fluid does it use? Are the seals for this jack standard, anything one-off?
@northridgenation
@northridgenation 3 жыл бұрын
No real heat range given. They operate down to -10F without much problem, below that they tend to get sluggish. They use the same oil as the ARB/OME BP-51 shocks. Replacement seals are available through ARB. They didn't think any of them were specialty oil seals.

@northridgenation
@northridgenation Жыл бұрын
The ARB lift nose is about the same length as a standard Hi-Lift type jack. Will get a measurement on it. As far as lift points, the Hi-Lift has the lift mate that will hook onto wheels or edges of bumpers, making lifting vehicles without dedicated lifting points a lot easier.

The farm jack was designed on paper and has performed very well for over 100 years. I wonder how long the ARB jack will last since it was designed using CAD. The farm jack will probably still be gong when the ARB's have been replaced. Oh, and they aren't $800 either!

ARB jacks look great and do the job they were designed for. That price though..... Sorry to be critical, the the price is way out of my budget. A HF 3-ton hydraulic ram ($60) and a little welding can build a home made one for maybe $120. The ARB jack, per the websiote, is $956 (jack + base). A farm jack doesn't leak hydraulic fluid. Becausse of the design, neither does the hydraulic ram.

From what I hear this jack can't be stored laying down on it's side. Users reported that it leaked and ruined the interior, and it took weeks for a refund. So how is someone supposed to store this vertically? If this is true, ARB needs to fix this asap.
@northridgenation
@northridgenation 3 жыл бұрын
Start watching at 11:15. ARB recommends that the Jack is stored in a vertical position. The problem is if the pressure release valve is depressed while laying on its side, hydraulic oil could leak out, affecting lifting performance. However if you store it in the bag to protect that lever, lay it on its side with the valve facing up and make sure not to pack thing tightly around the head that could crush the bag and depress the lever, you should be fine.

"You get what you pay for..." Well, at (almost $800) the cost of 12-14 3 ton bottle jacks or half the cost of a 9000lb full car lift...eh. Sorry, that's a pass for me. I guess if you consider wieght and storage..This thing is 23lbs and a 48" Hi Lift is supposedly 28-30 lbs...ok you get a weight saivings of around 7-5 lbs -ish. A 6-Ton Hydraulic High Lift Double Ram Bottle Jack weighs about 10.8 lbs and a 3 ton about 5.5 lbs. They also take up about as much room as a kitchen blender and only cost between $60 and a $100. So...My vote is for the bottle jack I still have a 48" Hi-Lift mounted inside the fehicle to my rollbar. Why? Because...it's cheap and I drive Jeep . Not having one would be like not getting my Jeep dirty. It's practically as much an icon to off-roading as a dangerous, overpriced, gas guzzling vehicle with terrible road handling, ancient suspension and even worse cabin noise. Or I could go buy a $100k EV Hummer and throw this ARB Hydraulic Jack in the back. Match made in heaven.
@northridgenation
@northridgenation 3 жыл бұрын
That's why we think it is unfair to compare the ARB Jack with the old school farm jacks. The Hi-Lift is extremely versatile and allows you to do so many different things that the ARB can't and the price is hard to beat. However, if someone is only wanting a jack to lift their vehicle, and it is within a person's budget, the ARB Jack is the route to go.
@DarthJeep
@DarthJeep 3 жыл бұрын
@@northridgenation What you are talking about is the same as justifying a purchase for a Ferrari to "just get the grocieries from the store down the street", because it can do it so much faster (i.e. "better") than a cheaper pickup truck which can do everything else arguably better. I'm not saying there isn't a market for it, but let's call it what it is...a luxury item.

You start of with saying about not comparing the arb with the Hi-Lift and in your first 2 comments that is the first thing you do, Fact the Hi-Lift can lift more @ 4660Lbs and each Hi-lift is factory tested to 7000Lbs and they can Winch 5000Lbs, You fail to mention that dozens of People have Squashes their fingers and Thumbs using the arb Jack between the handle and the upright which makes the arb just as dangerous as a Hi-Lift if used without paying attension, Having used a Hi-Lift for decades I have never had and accident or mishap, Even If I won that Jeep I would replace the arb jack with a Hi-Lift, The arb jack is a one trick pony and try repairing that out on the Trail when the seals blow and they will, a 10/20 dollar kit and the Hi-Lift will be ready for use in under 5 minutes, Try getting ARB to honour a warranty claim without a 3 month or more battle on your hands, I have and they always have a wiggle out clause, For $800 bucks I can buy at leased 8 Hi-Lifts, Oh wait up My 23 year old Hi_lift is still like New So I don't need to buy 8 of them, There's no seals to leak or break down, Please stop trying to sucker people into buy this POS, There is only One Hi-Lift and maybe that is all we Need.
@northridgenation
@northridgenation 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the HiLift is a fantastic tool that can do so much more than the ARB Jack, there really is no comparison. That said, the ARB Jack does one thing, easily lift your vehicle and does it really well. For those who only want a jack to lift their vehicle, and they don't mind the premium price, the ARB Jack is an excellent option.
