The bead breaking is a head scratcher here... You can break a bead with a farm jack, that's nothing new. I watched that done on a field repair about 30 years ago wheeling with my dad and his buddies. Getting what you pay for and getting screwed for what you pay are two different things(curious if their R&D took the brunt of this cost need or if they had to pay for the patent/design). Disclaimer, I'm an ARB supporter and product owner, have their single air compressor, their OME suspension on my Tacoma, and several other products and I don't think I'd pay for this if it were half that price. Unfortunate, cool product, doesn't warrant the cost, still a cool video and I'll always be a supporter.

Great video. I purchased an ARB jack a couple of months ago and love it. I'm looking for a different way to store it and was hoping they'd had a bracket where it can be stored against the rollbar somehow. Maybe in the future there will be something available. The only negative for me (so far) is lowering the jack back to storage position - takes quite a bit of effort. But I'll take that any day over the Hi-Lift jack.

The original was called a farm jack. A friend has one that was his great-grandfathers and still hasn’t developed an oil leak.😜 Much greater capacity, much lower price, a long list of accessories to do many jobs, easily rebuilt with new wear parts. Either one can put you in the hospital when used without common sense and training/education. But I gotta hand it to ARB (a great company) for the marketing gimmick factor. I’m sure they are going to make a bunch of $$$$$ from it. My wallet is too thin to replace a good tool that has proven itself for generations.

Question: The provided instructions say not to store the ARB Jack on its side or it will leak. Yet they are all shipped on their side. They also are stored on their side at the distribution warehouse and in delivery trucks. Mine arrived covered in oil because of these reasons. Further, how are we to store the Jack outside the vehicle if it comes in a storage bag that is without mounting hardware and which causes one to assume that the Jack is to be stored IN the vehicle, where it almost always can only be stored on its side, because of its height? Why isnt there mounting hardware specific to the Jack, designed/sold by ARB that is 1) meant to be mounted on exterior and that, 2) incorporates theft resistant features (e.g. lockable hardware)? I'm in the states. These are very popular here but that is changing quickly. I just returned from the Overland Expo and my question above, includes the 2 most heard complaints about this product and are the reasons why so many are now turning to other products. The number 1 complaint however: storing this on its side should not allow oil to leak/this is a very poor design feature! I love ARB but this is money I'm now seeing that was poorly spent, due to an incomplete design and a lack of mounting options, which ARB should've addressed prior to releasing this product. ARB, please address these 3 things, or I fear ARB will see this products interest lose steam. ARB is a solid company but the mark was missed on this one big time.
@AutoEdits2 жыл бұрын
I think that was an early production problem and has been solved with the Jacks. Good to use and store however needed. I did ask about an exterior mounting option and they thought since the Jacks are so expensive... no one would want to mount them on the exterior of their vehicles.
@JesusWSalazar2 жыл бұрын
@@AutoEdits Appreciate the response. However, mine is a recent production, manufactured within last year and still arrived covered in oil. I'm not so sure the leak issue is resolved. But let's hope. As for outside storage: at overland expo people kept inquiring about a mount at the ARB booth. Even the ARB rep at the event couldn't understand why there wasn't a mount. But again, let's hope.

Here's an interesting observation... I used my hi-lift once in all my years in the field but since I've started carrying the ARB... have been requested to get it several times to help other people and have used it multiple times to break beads on tire changes. So it kind of generated it's own "build it and they will come" type thing... is it worth dropping the money on? that's up to the disposable income of the jeeper. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a reservation at Cheesecake Factory and that Mall parking lot can be treacherous.

AutoEdits when I say only used it a handful of times I didn’t exclude use on other People or I would have said maybe once. There has always been an easier and faster way to do the job that arose. "horror stories" seems fairly dramatic... lol I also hear early production models had loose seals that might leak if the jack was stored on it's side but they warranty them like they should.

Yeah, I mean it is definitely annoying when you’re dishing out that much money to then have it leaking all over the place, then to have to go through all the trouble of getting shipped back for repairs. Don’t get me wrong I do like the jack and I still may purchase one just as long that the company did something there to improve the thing!

Sorry not for $800 bucks.. I'll keep my Hi-Lift . If you want to keep your Hi-lift a lot safer get a Jeep Needs Sam or DLA.. Much, much, cheaper and a Whole lot safer, And as far as beed breaker... my Hi-Lift will do the same... i'll use the 800 for something else.

Not worth the money. Way over priced for as often as you would use it.
