@@Legreat76 Not hating at all, all I’m saying is that the interview was completely basic. ‘Arber interview is one of the best interviews yet boys’ That clearly sounds like an opinion from someone completely new to the podcast or they’re just a diehard Habs fans by considering a completely basic interview as ‘one of the best’ Faber from a couple weeks ago was even more entertaining than this week’s.

Even if ur not a Habs fan, u have to appreciate the hard work hes put in, and his brother also, and as Bizz mentioned, there's a lot of politics in hockey, and they had no inside track, or anything like that, just made it on hard work and skill. I'm 44 years old and A Habs fan since I was 13 and saw Patrick wink at Sandstrom. Lot of GM's over that time, Serge Savard, Gainey, Andre Savard, Rejean FOOL, Gautier, Bergevin, and I've never seen a GM put together a more complete offseason. No stupid 5 year deal to a 30 year old for 2 mil too much, no reaching for the 20th ranked player at the 5th pick, no prove it deals to your best young players, no head scratching deal of your best young defenceman for a small french canadian who you hope and pray can be a center, no media hostility with a stubborn my way or the highway head coach who believes allowing 40 shots against with 20 for in a 2-1 win when your all-star goalie is literally carrying you is sustainble for 82 games a season, as the same head coach bashes anyone who tries to score as lazy, no thinking that it's sustainable to try and compete without having anyone who can score a point a game or god forbid 40 goals, no burying your best young prospect on the 3rd line playing 12 minutes a night, no we drafted these kids they're adults and on their own and we shouldn't try and support and coach and grow and they if they don't succeed it's their fault, no spending right up to the cap with any change in his pocket every freaking year, throwing good money after bad, None of that. He did the exact opposite of that, which is a minor miracle. Everything makes sense, you can think of 7 different reasons the move is reasonable, and even if it doesn't work you understand that it was not on a hunch. Even if this doesn't work this year I'm so happy to have a GM that every move he's made for going on a year, I agree with and in some cases shocked he pulled off. Bravo Gorton, Bravo Hughes, one more year of gathering talent like this and the Habs will be contenders

Biz is absolutely right about Florian. There's a big demand for a player like him. Which begs to question, why was he still available in the 4th round? lol. If he's able to get his skating up to speed, Seems he has, I see him in the top 6 so long as, he learns to use his wingers better. I think that could be a knock on him going into training camp. A lot of his goals are based on individual effort. NHL defenders will jump all over that. As for Arber, If he takes on more of leader mentality role, the same approach he took on in Laval, That might be the key to him creating a few more offensive chances, getting more involved taking a few more risks, stepping up his game a notch when there's opportunity too. After all he is the older brother, and has applied that approach his whole life. Different era, but look at how well respected Larry Robinson was,.. And he not only won cups as a player, but was successful at teaching the game as well. Not saying A. Xhekaj is there yet by any means, but to build on that approach is what I'm saying. To me he seems to have the right personality. If all goes well this mf will have an A on his jersey at some point.

Great interview with Arber. About those handshake deals,I gotta say sump'n -- take the money! You could get injured in preseason, end of career. Not worth it for a young guy just starting out, sign the offer sheet. If the team wants you, they'll pay. Different for a guy who's thirty or thirty-two who's already cashed in and still chasing the Cup. If Corey Perry signs for Timbits it's still a good deal. Not everybody is Corey Perry.

Regarding the questions on the offer sheets at the end of that segment. Pretty sure the Blues negotiated those deals with the players prior to the offer sheets being know to EDM and the public, so I don't think the players can say oh no we actually want to stay here and negotiate another deal on the side with Oilers. Once the offer sheets are out there it just becomes a question of whether it's officially signed with the Oilers or the Blues, the money and term cannot be changed.
