For short, if a game doesn't benefit from higher vram than 8 GB, 3070 beats by a margin since it has more raw power. But if requires more than 8gb vram, than b580 catches and beats 3070.

I’ve found a RTX 3090 founders edition for $380 is it worth picking up? I want to start streaming and gaming so I’m looking to build a PC soon and I want to get a decent enough card that can least play at 1440.

should definitely take it cuz if you look at other cards at 400ish, you'll only be able to get a 4060ti or an rx7700xt which cant beat the 3090 in almost every case other than newer technology like DLSS3

be careful though, 380$ for used 3090 seems sketchy to me

Very interesting. It's clear from your tests that the 3070 has more raw power than the B580 by a wide margin. It's equally clear that, in some games, more VRAM is as important, or more important, than more raw power. With each passing year, games will require more and more VRAM, so in choosing a board to buy, it would be wise to factor in both.

Im willing to bet B580 buyers aren't playing AAA games. They are playing 1080p Fortnite. So ya. 12gb ram for 250$ is fooling everyone

@@rkwjunior2298 When the 4060 Ti-16GB came out, people said "Don't buy it, It's not fast enough." When the 7800 XT, with 16GB came out, reviews said "Don't buy it, it's not fast enough." Now, the B580 comes out with 12GB, and it's slower than both, and has less VRAM than both, and reviews say the B580 is great. I guess the low price makes it OK? BTW, yes, there are games where 8GB of VRAM is not enough. My son swiped my 4060 TI-16 and gave me his 2070 Super because 8GB was crashing Star Citizen, as it needs up to 14GB. The 4060Ti isn't much more powerful than the 2070 Super, but it runs Star Citizen much faster, and doesn't crash.

@@carlr2837 For majority of games that people play 8gb is fine. So 12gb let's you play all games but it doesn't do anything for performance.

@@rkwjunior2298 My prior reply to you seems to have vanished. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that 12gb of ram for $250 is "fooling everyone"? I'm guessing that you mean that, because the 12gb of VRAM enables the B580 to win in VRAM intensive games such as Jedi Survivor or Ghost, the result is that people are fooled from the tests on VRAM intensive games into thinking that the B580 will be faster on all games? BTW, 12gb is not enough for "all games". Some, such as Star Citizen already are out there that use over 14gb, so if you are going to play them, you might want to get a 16gb card.

This test is somewhat misleading by comparing the ARC with RTXs from a higher tier. The fact is that the ARC destroys all GPUs from its tier and both AMD and nVidia will have to swallow that pill. Who knows !? Maybe the GPU prices come down to an affordable price for us plebes !
@ShutInCuber7 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s misleading. I feel like (mostly) it’s a given that even the 3070 is a higher price tier than the B580. But having this comparison is still nice for people deciding what price point of PCs they want, and especially awesome to see the B580 beat the 3070 in some games.

Yes but as we see, Vram is important. The 3070 has way more power but it’s vram holding it back. Even i’m worried my 3080 10gb will soon have stutter issues with games now forcing RT.

That why I decided to stay at 1080p (24.5 inch) and not change to 1440p, It's still enough for the 3070 in terms of vram, especially if I turn dlss on and fsr3 in some cases.

@@lakshaykumar5476 You know, the RTX 3070 actually has a bit more performance than the new Intel B850 graphics card, especially in games that support RT technology. But as we move forward, games need more VRAM to run better, so upgrading to a card with more memory is a wiser thing to do. In this case, I recommend the RX 6700XT because of the more VRAM. But for 1080 and to some extent 1440 resolutions, with the RTX option, the RTX 3070 graphics card can be a good option.

@@lakshaykumar5476 B580 100% if it is new. Otherwise choose whichever is cheaper between b580 and 6700xt unless you can get a new 3070, and even then vram is a thing. B580 is basically 6700xt with better ray tracing capability, plus Xess is league ahead of fsr now, from what I see it is comparable to dlss. In exchange Intel drivers are not there yet so depends on the game you might get worse performance.
