Arc'teryx Gamma LT Review

A look at both the Arc'teryx Gamma LT hoody and non-hooded Jacket. Basic information on sizing and layering. Just a note, In the video I said that the Gamma LT and MX had the same face fabric, They do not. They look and feel very similar, but the Gamma MX has a face fabric called Fortius 2.0, and the Gamma LT has Wee Burly double weave.

Get the jacket in your normal size, whatever size that you would normally wear. It's a softshell that is made to fit over light layers, so on its own it may be a little big, but with a layer under it, it's great. If you size down, it may be too small.

Is this similar to the Gamma Lightweight Hoodie? Would you recommend this is an all-around light-weight shell for cooler/light damp weather in the northeast (southeastern PA area)?

The gamma lightweight is the old Gamma SL. I would recommend the gamma lightweight rather than the LT. I really like the lightweight (SL). I'm in NJ.

What is the difference between this jacket and the Atom LT

The Gamma is a softshell, the Atom is an insulated jacket. The gamma has no insulation, it is to be worn usually on top of something like an Atom LT for extra protection from wind, rain, and if climbing, extra abrasion resistance if you should scrape against rocks.

How’s the fit, I wear a L in the Atom Lt , do I want the same size ?

Yes, I would get the same size. My XL atom LT fits under The XL Gamma LT nicely. Only if you want to wear the Gamma LT on top of something heavier or bulkier than the Atom Lt, Proton LT or Nuclei FL, would I say to size up. That is only because the sleeves on my Gamma LT are narrow and with heavier jackets like the Thorium AR or Atom AR, the sleeves will be tight in the L with those jackets.

Hope you can help me out. I have watched your videos a lot but need your direct help. I will wear the Jackets mostly like you walking the dog in the wood etc. I overheat fast so I decided to spend more money on functionality. My first buy was the proton fl. Now I would like to have a jacket I can wear alone or wear it over the fl as rain and wind protection without destroying the breathing. I live in Germany and normal rain is not to heavy here. So I can not decide to the gamma sl or lt or beta lt. Or maybe you know an other rain option for me. My third planed buy will be the atom lt. So my final goal is to have these three for combined the most weather options. Give you can help me with the rain option

The gamma SL would be good, but for wind protection with some rain protection you may want to look at the Squamish hoody and the Trino SL. The squamish is a very lightweight nylon shell, and the Trino SL is a bit heavier, used for trail runs. The Gamma LT is heavier than the Gamma SL, but none of these will keep you warmer in colder weather. For warmth, you need an insulating layer. The Beta LT is a great hardshell, the best option for rain and wind resistance. However, it will not breath as well as the others. The Beta LT does have pit zips, and you can always unzip it a bit to let out heat. I don't think that any one jacket will do everything that one would want for every weather condition.

@@meandmyjackets thx man. Heard the gamma sl works for light rain good. Have you any experience with rain and the gamma sl. Think it will be a very great combo with the proton fl. Or the atom lt

@@kevinrose1453 light rain is ok, but not much more. it will fit great over those jackets.
