Whatever Sonos is cooking may eventually change all this, but for now I think Quad comes out on top Soundstage DTX Low Distortion Great music Clarity Good connection Good App / better reliability and more I do like the clothlessness of the Sonos and overall colorway and look design Samsung is half the price though if you just want loud go dragon So Quad it is ?

I’ve had the Ultra for 2 days now, and I can tell you that it’s night and day better. Soundstage is great, bass is nice and has a sound bubble similar to the Ambeo soundbar. No DTS sucks and the 1 HDMI input is embarrassing.

0:45 i wasn’t too knowledgeable about soundbars back then and you helped influence my decision on getting the Arc those years ago. Even helped when my TV & Arc weren’t cooperating together with volume control. I’ve learned so much about audio in general since then and despite all the issues with that Sonos app (which actually doesn’t effect me too much). I appreciate & thank you for the help. I have no regrets with my Arc even if there’s arguably (or subjectively) better soundbar systems. You’re the man!

For me, and probably most Sonos buyers, it would be interesting so hear if it is worth the upgrade from Arc to Ultra. The sub 4 is probably worth to get if you already own a Gen 3 and want to expand on that bass 👍

I just upgraded to the Ultra with sub and era and can attest a noticeable difference. Even my wife noticed the difference and she is not nearly into this stuff as I am. If leaning towards an upgrade, you won’t be disappointed.

I would be interested in a comparison between the arc with sub and the arc Ultra without sub as they are quite similar in Price with some big discounts on the old Arc. And it answers the question whether the sub is urgently needed with the Ultra or not

Set up the quad,Q990D, and Sonos at the same time. Sit 1-3 of your friends and blind fold them. Then play scenes and switch back n forth between the set ups. And get a consensus on who thinks what about which sound. Blind test them.

It’s not about the number of tweeters for surround sound. Full range speakers can create an even better sound because no cross over is needed.

So I upgraded to the Ultra from G1 Arc with 2 ERA 300s and G3 Sub. I am vey happy with the Ultra as dialog is so much better. With G1 Arc, I kept having to turn the volume up and down to hear dialog that is no longer needed with Ultra. However, in your review, let me know your thoughts about the bass balancing between the Sub and Ultra. I feel the Ultra is carrying too much of the bass load when have a Sub. I tested this out with Dolby test software I have access to where bass should be coming from just the sub, but is coming from both the Ultra and Sub. Plus the Sub bass adjustment in the App has much less of an effect with the Ultra. Let me know what your testing comes out with.

You asked for what we would like, so: I live in an 800 square foot suite, so my home theatre system and hifi system are the same. I have a Playbar vintage Sonos system which I appreciate as I can easily play whatever I want wherever I want. Although the system is pleasant enough (euphonic) for music, it is not audiophile friendly-soundstage and imaging are completely absent. I think it’s because the centre channel speaker is always active even on a true two-channel stereo recording. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could give the Arc Ultra a listen the way and audiophile would. Can the Ultra do a good imitation of a KEF LS60 system for music? @@davidmorrow7797 Yep. Add the Era 300’s and it 100% better. Also, the full Sonos setup is $2,600 vs $2,500 for the Sony without a sub, and the Sony sub can’t hold a candle to the Sonos sub.

I think that if you have the ARC + SUB gen 3 + ERAs, the ARC ULTRA is not worth it. It only gives you a little more low frequencies. But you get that if you have the ARC and some SUB, the change is really worth it if you have a lower category or if you have nothing.

It seems that Sonos had difficulty introducing Sound Motion technology into the soundbar because the drivers are expensive. With more speakers, the soundstage will probably improve from the original, but I think they are still in the early stages of the technology. In the future, they will probably use the new technology for mid and high frequencies. The big question is: is the price charged by Sonos worth the difference compared to what Samsung delivers and charges? I also saw some rumors that Samsung has developed new technology too. I’ll wait to see what Samsung will deliver next year

@@3eorygamer I own both, and I can tell you that the Arc Ultra with the full setup is better, however I refuse to say it’s a $1,000 better. If money isn’t an option, go with the Sonos, if you don’t like throwing money down the river, go Samsung.

While waiting to ARC Ultra I had Beam2 with sub mini and 2xera100. Overall the sound was great. Now after getting the ARC Ultra I moved the sub mini and 2xera100 to work with the ARC Ultra. While watching the movie Rebel Moon2, the sound was great however I wasn’t able to have an “upgraded audio experience” Vs when I was using the Beam2. I had verified that the movie is streamed in Dolby ATMOS. Will love to hear your feedback when you will have it on similar setup,etc.

If you had a choice would you rather buy the Sony HT-A9M2 or the Sonus Arc ultra and 300s? I had the HT-A9 but I sent it back as i was not convinced by the Centre channel or using my sony A90J tv as the centre. I also did not think the HT-A9 was very good at low volume. I have not heard either the HT-A9M2 or Sonus ultra unfortunately. I wish sony would just add another speaker for the centre. Anyway, I have come from a dedicated surround seperate system for context.

Dirac is used in High end AVR and processors generally, it does tweak frequency response in additon to everything mentioned Dirac is much more powerful of a DSP software than almost everything else out there. Right now in car audio the best OEM systems are Dirac auto optimized, so theres going to be huge interest in subwoofer response correction because klipsch is letting younise any sibwoofer as well. Dirac has been incredibly powerful for subwoofer dsp.

Please absolutely go in depth on challenging music soundstage and movie/show dialogue. Dialogue is probably where the arc is weakest in my opinion. Gotta know how much of a difference the arc ultra makes with dialogue.

Hi, I have a question about PS5 and Bravia Quad. What is the best audio options in console settings for this set? There is a lot of options and I'm lost. I use Bravia Quad connected with eARC to my TV (x95k Sony mini led). There is tv connection, av amplifier, soundbar + Linear PCM, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio and DTS. If you use TV connection you can also turn on 3D audio. Please help.

I set up some play 1s to test this. They do not show up as possible pairings for me. Are you talking about grouping them like multiroom or using them as surrounds? or are you confusing play 1s with Sonos 1s. I ask because (again) Sonos is definitely not allowing me to pair as surrounds

Android users are getting thrown a small bone. Yes Trueplay 'basic' is now available for everyone - it uses the Ultra's built-in microphones to do the work. But Trueplay 'advanced' is still recommended and - boo boo boo - still the exclusive domain of iOS. You heard that right, your shiny new Samsung S25's microphone is, according to Sonos, still rubbish.

Advanced trueplay currently nerfs the bass to the point it's almost non existing(I have sub gen 3). I've tested both and there's not that much of a difference. Spatial objects are better placed with the advanced tuning but sound wise it's very similar

When I heard the price of the bar I kind of lost excitement as it’s only $100 more than the arc. I knew no way this was going to be a night and day difference when the ultra is only $100 more makes zero sense now if the bar was at least $300 more then I would’ve said yes and unfortunately, at least with my experience is so far with ultra I was right. So far the bars sounds almost the same. A little more clarity in the dialogue but that’s about it. But a big difference that I’m actually going to call Sonos today about is the sub 3. It sounds like nothing now. Not until you at least put it to +5 Feel like they are doing what Apple does with their iPhones when a new one comes out and a lot of people complain that their iPhones all of a sudden people are having issues so you can go out and get the new one. I really hope it’s not the case with this and it’s just a software update that is needed.
