Electrode is the filler matterial,it should be melted as well as work piece should be melted but here we have to look how heat is distributed b/w electrode & workpiece there are three types of arc welding 1)AC 2)DCSP 3)DCRP based on these types heat distribution differs my next video is going to be on this topic.

High voltage ? Or high current?

High voltage at edge of electrode...for example lightning in sky or Tesla coil

High voltage can be created either by step up transformer or by electronic circuit(eg. Tube light Choke) It is high contact resistance and high current that causes arc. Lightning causes disaster because of high voltage.

Actually it's high current that produces welding... sorry for the wrong interpretation in the video

Your explanation is completely wrong. The welding transformer provides low voltage high amperage current. There is no any machine in the welding circuit to boost voltage. The transformer provides voltage between 60 to 90 volts only. Ofcourse, the air in between electrode and work is dielectric and an enormous voltage (10000volts approx) is required to make the air molecules conductive. Then how we are getting 10000-12000volts? When we start welding we touch the electrode on the work and pull back the electrode 2 or 3 mm apart. During this moment, the current flowing between the electrode and work suddenly falls to zero (dI/dt maximum). Due to this sudden fall of current, the magnetic field in between arc gap collapses and as a result huge voltage is generated in the arc gap. This breakdown voltage quickly ionise the air molecules. Now the low voltage potential difference, easily pushes high rated current across the arc gap. Due to the collision of ions, spark is generated in the arc gap. Thereby heat energy is produced. Please correct.

I later found the sentence of the script was conveyed with mistake. I accept my mistake. The flow of electron per second is high actually. There is no option to re-upload in KZbin.

Not high voltage, it is low voltage high current. study first and then explain.
