Arcade 1 Up SPACE INVADERS problem

When you turn the machine on it is in demo mode which is correct. However as soon as you play a game it never returns to demo mode. I demonstrate this in this video.

Mine does the same thing. All I do is hold down the 1 player button and return to the main menu and reselect the game and it goes back into attract mode. I think it is happening because you have to use the same button to add credits and to start the game. I don't consider it a software problem, it is a problem of button mapping.

Thanks Ken. I guess that is the correct term ." Button mapping" That is exactly it. I am confused because pac man uses the same button to start and add credits. However on pac man if you push the 1 player button too many times it adds a an extra credit and therefore will not go into attract mode. There is no way to use that extra credit So you have to exit out and re start the game. This is Very annoying to me.

It stays there because there is a credit inserted. It only goes back to demo mode when no credits are inserted.

I have this issue with Galaga. I have to go back to menu, and start the game over, to get it to demo mode, after a session. I've just ordered a Space Invaders cabinet, as I write. I'll come back, and let you know if mine does the same thing, in a couple of days, when I get it in, and built. Thanks for reporting this.

Because they are not using the correct ROM. The one on mame that is a clone does this but the Taito and Midway versions does the correct demo sequence once game ends.

If I hold down my Pacman 1 player button for a few seconds, it resets, maybe give it a try on your space invaders?

Why is there no sound on demo mode ??? Like a real arcade with noise in the back ground

Its just how arcade demo modes work. all arcade demos are like that. and im not talking about arcade 1up.

The issue is that the Coin and Player 1 buttons are mapped to the same button. You would have to solder a usb cable to the board and access the mame options with a keyboard to remap the coin button to player 2 only

Thank you . That is a very good explanation. Ive had it for a while now and Ive learned to live with it. However I would like to try to do what you said. Do you know much about doing that? If I attach a usb and make the changes , will it save the changes after I turn off the machine? Any Good videos you could recommend on the subject?

This happens with my Galaga too, but ya when you start the game, youre adding another credit, so that screen will pop up after the game ends

This happens with my Galaga. But once I figured out what I was doing wrong. It works just fine now.

@@timd2606 I would have to play the first two credits then the game worked just fine. But mine only did this like the first week I had mine. After that. I haven't seen it. Let me check again tonight and see. I mainly play Centipede. My wife plays our Pac-Man. And my daughter loves Galaga.

Several of the different units do that. Galaga does the same thing. I wouldn't sweat it.

MIne does this too demo mode is only when you first start the machine from power up.

Yeah uhhh I'm really concerned about the images being burned on the screen. Like for instance rember at the Arcades in the 80's some time's on certain Arcades an image burn on a screen like a GAME 0VER is permanently on a screen which sucked and was annoying to the eyes a sore site to behold. I'm not sure if the original arcade was like that and that's how that happened even back then. That's why it's very important to research what you're getting buying or investing into I want arcade1up myself. Perhaps Final Fight or Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat 2 or maybe even Ninja Gaiden or Double Dragon hell Shinobi these are the games that grew up with as well as Space Invaders perhaps arcade1up should have fixed this since it's all was rebuilt from the ground up nice video thank you.☯️😎 Ps please God release a Arcade 1Up version of...PIT FIGHTER ... In ((stereo)) with 3 ARCADE control's , I PROMISE I'll be a very good boy . Pit Fighter....is real the deal! Because cage fighting is for Wussies. 😜

The burned in screens were the worst. I dont think LCD can burn in but Im not sure. I guess I'll find out. The overall Arcade 1 up experience has been great though. Hopefully You get your PIT Fighter.

@@yeksun Thank you ☯️ I seen LCD can burn images. But the contrast up to high can be a culprit. I know how to adjust graphics from the color and tint and bright contrast and sharpness of Graphic's to make any 8-bit or 16- bit too (look real fleshy realistic look I'm gifted for that I can make Street Fighter 2 look real in the flesh instead of looking like an Cartoon.) Espealliy game Cartridges 😎. But any way if you notice burn images even on LCD screen? You should turn off the TV set and rest the TV immediately. As this could rejuvenate the T.v. monitor 😎 p's for people to say that you need an old school monitor to play old retro consoles it's not true! You don't need no high-definition cord you just need to know how to adjust the of graphics of the new T.V. monitor 😉. Stay true gamers💪 oh yeah I have a Neo-Geo AES 24-bit Monster Cartridge MACHINE with 2 arcade controller's and 5 games including ART OF FIGHTING 2 🙄

@@demonology2629 I kind of doubt you have seen actual burn in. The closest thing I have seen was with a samsung 720p lcd tv and the problem there was that it had really bad screen retention, which would be visible on screen even the next days-weeks.. But once it was switched off for a week it completely vanished.

Dont freak out. Im simply saying I dont like this. It should return to the demo screen. I think it stinks that it doesnt. Do you disagree? Do you like that it stays with one credit and doesnt return to the demo screen? Of course I can still play it , thats not what the video is about. I own 7 of these and Im planing on 2 more. no mortal combat or golden tee for me. Perhaps Im the one freaking out Lol

It's probably a software thing--you're just going to have to reset back to the main menu after you're finished playing. A little annoying, but that's Arcade1UP for ya.

Just soft reset the game. Hold down the player 2 button. Just like galaga.

Thanks. That is a good tip . That works and its much better than exiting out and restarting but I wish it would do it on its own. When people come over to play They will not know these tricks. Thanks for sharing

Mine does the same. I do the exact workaround by doing a soft reset to get back to the demo screen.

Yep as soon as I play a game and finishes it doesn’t go into demo mode, not really a problem. Arcade 1up use crappy parts as in joystick and buttons, considering the price it’s a bad move on their part as I’d not buy from them again. Luckily in the U.K. I found a proper cab builder who roughly charges maybe a £100 more and the build quality is superior compared to these cheap yank products. Also it includes 400 games and has also space invaders 2. These machines are mass produced hence why their low quality. I’ve a bartop and free stander all hand built and bespoked to my preference

These 1up's are a cool concept but they are really low-quality. A giant rip-off! I'm just waiting for them to be clearanced out. So I can grab one and mod it.

there? where? I agree, at the $300 price point the games should work completely. You should contact AC1up and see if they would replace the CPU. They did it with the Rampage cabs.

Their trackball games are terrible because the trackballs don't work.
