*YES!* This hasn't been available since the death of Microsoft Game Room. Excellent game that never got the distribution it deserved. Looking forward to challenging the leaderboards on this one!

Originally released in November of 1987, City Bomber is an overhead driving action game whose gameplay resembles a blend of Data East's Bump 'N Jump, Bally Midway's Spy Hunter, and Sega's Action Fighter. City Bomber runs on the Konami GX 400 which is the successor to the Konami Bubble System which was made after it was realized that electromagnetic fields could render the games on that hardware unusable. Other games in the GX400 hardware include Arcade Archive alumnus such as Gradius/Nemesis, Salamander/Life Force, and TwinBee From what is known from the opening cinematic, you are the driver of a red car who had gotten caught in the middle of a shootout at a casino, and in your escape, enemy vehicles have been dispatched to pursue you, and even the police want you captured. Gameplay wise, the goal of each stage is to reach the checkpoint before time expires. Control wise, you have your joystick for steering and 3 buttons - Fire (for shooting enemies), Jump (which triggers the car's hydraulic system, which causes your car to jump to avoid enemies or reach out to attack airborne enemies), and Brake (slows down the car). During each stage, there are some cars which are colored differently. If these cars are destroyed, the player can catch an item to enhance the car. These range from Booster Engines, which add more velocity to the car, Glider Wings which enhance the car's airborne time, a Cannon which enhances the strength of your vehicle's offensive strength, and a saw blade that can temporarily allow the car to ram anything in its path, destroying it instantly. The saw is also very useful for removing obstacles like trees. Stage wise, the terrains include a highway, a dilapidated lake road, and even a volcanic eruption zone.

I was expecting Parodius Da or Twinbee Yahho this week but at least this game looks decent. It reminds me of that TV show, Knight Rider, starring David Hasselhoff.
