I've been making, playing, recording, and performing music for over half my life (26 as I write this) and to see a band who seems to truly appreciate Rock and Roll get to work with and receive a nod from one of their heroes is very moving. Rock/Pop music by its very nature is about youthful rebellion on the surface, and personal introspective and discovery as you fall deeper into it. This is a great example of that in my opinion, Bowie being both an embodiment and anomaly of the form. Just a humble rant and maybe food for thought. Rock n Roll...

+ASocialCJ Great comment & I agree, what sucks is that corporations took control of music and killed it. It's processed cheese and artist can't get away with what Bowie did. Arcade Fire is a breath of fresh air but if they tried something different their label would refuse to release it. That is why art in music is almost non existent.

+MusicCollaborator I disagree ... I think Arcade Fire is an exception to that,I think they have a ton of free reign when it comes to there label. I mean Reflektor stood out the most to me in that respect, it was the mythology behind it like The story of Orpheus (it's never over) and Eurydice (awful sound) the music and concept kind of went in all different directions. Another thing that stood out was the Haitian "Rah-Rah" music influence with "Flash-Bulb Eyes" and "here comes the night-time" where they relied allot on "Drum Circle" percussion and experimented with a style and concept of music that is alien to me at least. It's not my favorite album however I don't think they are being pigeon-holed by there record label at all.

They are pretty damn amazing considering that much of today's music is corporate processed cheese. Today, artists are like bic lighters to corporations, they are disposable. If they don't sell millions of records they are out, they destroy the artist and then the next comes along. You'll see that happen with Beiber.
