father has a way of "preaching" the lyrics; which works so well for his songs because the words within them are so potent... but when he covers songs that have amazing lyrics delivered in that way, which i would say were sub-substantial in the original delivery, one could almost picture the podium before him and chant out the chorus lyrics,.. if not in space than at least in mind. Either way he is a blessing and i am curious to know how Win sees this

After having a daughter during covid and my wife miscarrying a second daughter last night, the line about showing her some beauty before all this damage is done just resonates so much. Edit: I found out my wife was pregnant again a little over a month after I made this comment, something that wasn’t supposed to be medically possible (our first daughter was an ivf baby). We now have 2 girls 4(almost 5) and 2. We love them everyday. We’ve since had 2 more miscarriages but I’m so thankful for my girls and my wife. This song still makes me sentimental for what could have been and what will be. Thank you all for the kind words.

I want to hold her hand And show her some beauty Before all this damage is done If that's too much to ask If it's too much to ask Then send me a son Under the overpass Under the parking lot We're still waiting It's already passed So move your feet from hot pavement And onto the grass 'Cause it's already passed It's already, already passed [Chorus 3] Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling and into the night I'm moving past the feeling I'm moving past the feeling And in my dreams we're still screaming In my dreams we're still screaming In my dreams we're still screaming

What a wonderful cover of an amazing song. The lyrics blew me away when I’d first heard it way back. Crazy to think it’s more relevant and relatable now. Some songs are song good that they stick w/you after they’re over. This is def one of them, in a ominous way.

Maybe this is the best remedy i have ever seen for depression and sadness. This guy makes me want to fight back and do something with my life, it inspires me so much. Thanks Father John!

This is the first I've heard of Father John Misty, been meaning to listen to him for a while. Love his voice, hopefully I like his writing as much.
