Zajebista gra. Pamiętam jak pierwszy raz doleciałem do ostatniego bossa (jeżeli można go tak nazwać, haha) i moje przerażenie gdy zaczął do mnie coś gadać! Dopiero potem - z internetu - dowiedziałem się, że on tak naprawdę tylko powtarzał nazwy wszystkich powerupów od tyłu w nieco zwolnionym tempie, dlatego to tak groteskowo brzmiało :-) Pozdrawiam!

The only reason we survived Gradius 3 on the SNES is because of slowdown. Even then, it was BRUTAL. Kinda interesting they re-used Gradius II bosses for the Boss Rush Stage

I remember playing the PSX version (a highly faithful port). By the second level, I was sweating bullets. Near the end of the third level, I was ready to take a sledgehammer to the console. All those razzafrakkin ice boulders. So hard. So gut-wrenchingly hard. Hard, hard, hard, hard, hard, hard. I bought it for $50 brand new. After two days, I took it back. I tried to explain that, yes, it ran all right, but it's so outrageously, ridiculously hard as to be essentially unplayable. (The highlight was needing about two minutes to explain what the "Konami Code" was.) Store owner brought in a couple kids to see if it was that bad. They played the first level a bit, said yeah, pretty much. Store owner offered me credit of 50 cents on the dollar. I took it. Frickin' shooters. (Was this _really_ the same company that gave us Dance Dance Revolution?)

+hawaiidkw I have the PS1, Saturn, PCE CD, and PSP ports, I'd never trade them in, no matter the difficulty. Practice makes perfect, and this one requires quite a bit of practice, though Gradius 3 makes this one like a cakewalk. It's not a bad game because it's hard, it's meant for those players who love a great challenge, and this game pays out in spades. Imagine if you had made it to the second loop and beyond, you think the first loop is hard, oh no, the later loops will eat you alive.

Okay, try to understand: 1. This was before widespread, dependable internet access, hence I had absolutely no idea that this was one of those games "meant for players who love a great challenge", in which case I would've avoided it like a week-old durian. (Not to mention I was young then and hardly immune to wishful thinking when I should've known better...World Heroes 2, anyone?) 2. Please, for the love of Anoa, don't use Gradius 3 as a baseline for _anything_. Yes, I know how utterly insane it is. I know because I've played it on MAME and hence did not have to shell out 50 bucks for it, which is roughly $49.96 more than I would've been willing to spend. 3. No, it's not a bad game because it's hard. It's a bad game because it's RIDICULOUSLY hard. Important distinction. Now, it got like that on the second loop, I'd have no beef. 4. I played the first game. It seemed fairly reasonable. I didn't think it was asking too much for the second game to be close to fairly reasonable. 5. This was the era of Dance Dance Revolution and the original Beatmania. That was what convinced me that Konami could do reasonable difficulty curves. Naive? Maybe. Like I said, I was young then.

Confirmed. Loop 2's pre-stages are difficult as it is, and the actual stages are hell even with powerups. Practicing recovery runs will be a pain.

I think that's an emulation problem. A similar problem shows up in the end credits when Earth is rendered. Layer drawing on the original hardware often relied upon very precise signal timing.

And I love how Konami portrayed bacteria like it was this terrible thing, when we have a trillion of them in our bodies on average, and when more and more evidence is coming out that bacteria is actually vital to survival - not enough of it, or not enough of the right kind, can cause all kinds of health problems. So this whole "stop the bacterion empire" thing is based on a false premise the whole time! I also find the death speech of the boss of Gradius 3 pretty funny too. That one has a dumb voice and speaks a bit ungrammatically.

The last stage is bullshit... Look at 25:16. It's IMPOSSIBLE to destroy that ship spawner and live. You absolutely have to have a shield or get extremely lucky. Bad level design. Not to mention that at the midboss, there are 3 turrets you can't kill along with endless shots you have to stream.

Dude, it doesn't stop spawning until you're already past where it would be a problem. I've tried that. You *have* to have a shield or you *will* die at that point, no matter what you do. And the other weapon sets are harder for the rest of the game up to that point, even if they would be good for that particular trap. Remember, it's an arcade game; they aren't always designed with fairness in mind. As long as it was fun enough to keep playing, they'd add cheap deathtraps to eat up your quarters while you figured out the exact way to cheese it.
