2:30 Funny that you mentioned silicone to glue neckboard on the back of the monitor. We have two hyster power jacks at work that keep stopping intermittently. We have to turn the power off and turn back on to get going again. I think I located the area where the loose connection is occurring. Must be 30+ gauge wires for controlling relays. I wiggled 5 connectors and was able to use it for 2 hours without stopping! 3 days later, it is starting to stop again. I was thinking about dabbing a little silicone between the wire and connector. I am going to check with my manager before attempting. I would prefer to rebuild the entire wiring harness with solder and better wire but I am not a trained maintenance tech....

An excellent video. Thanks so much for putting it together, I'm currently in the position of having to send off my Hantarex MTC9000 chassis away for repair. Yesterday I did the discharging, and thought "How on earth am I meant to disconnect the chassis from the tube?". Halfway through a day at work I think "Surely you must be able to disconnect the small board from the next of the tube". I get home, watch this video and all is revealed. Thank you.

newbie question, Is the ground wire on the chassis of the CRT going anywhere? wouldn't you want the voltages Isolated, like they always say, isolation Xformer for safety. and why didn't you discharge and caps on the CRT's board?

Stan, the ground wire is typically grounded to the monitor frame with itself being connected to the ground prong on the AC plug. While most older monitors require an isolation transformer, newer monitors include switch mode isolation on the chassis. You can discharge the caps, but they usually don’t hold much of a charge so we typically don't bother with it. Of course, the choice is yours. If you would like more details about your question, please tune into our Live Show Episode 54 on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 5:30 PM CT. Can you remove the entire frame with monitor without having to discharge the monitor?

With the ground wire, where does the other end go? I understand the ground wire is there in case of a failure, then the charge will go down the ground wire. Is that correct? One end goes to the neck board, where does the other end go? Onto the CRT, but where exactly?

Great vids; I have an old frogger machine that I'm parting out and your in depth look and understanding of arcade internals has helped quite a bit, especially on discharging the anode. How would you recommend storing the PCB? im looking for a mobo anti static bag big enough lmk if you have any other ideas. Sub'd +1

@Arcade Repair Tips I need some help with an arcade machine, will you help me? I only can write here because google discontinued the very well hidden message button's functionality because of "no interest".... I got a time crisis 2 deluxe with 50" pioneer projection monitor. And one of it lost the game signal. I was just watching the demo, and the picture just faded out.. First I thought that the monitor driver board died, but not, it's alive. When i push buttons on the control panel i can bring up the monitor's OSD menu, and it works like it should. But I can't figure out how the game signal gone. The cable is OK, i crosslinked them. The game panels are ok, tried them one-by-one on the working side. Everything seems ok, but still not working. On the back, there is a test switch on one of the monitor's panel, and when I switch it it got the picture but black-white and runs upwards and no way to fine tune it. The other monitor simply switches to black-white mode and the picture is ok. Without electrotechnical knowledge i can't do any more by myself. Can you give me some tips what to check? What parts to replace to maybe solve the problem? I think one small part causes this, like an elko, transistor or diode.... I can honor your help! :) Thanks!

so I bought a sega hang on upright system and the neck board is fine but the pins when it slide onto the yoke are bent. can I bend them back and reattach or buy another monitor or yolk ?
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can bend them back but you want to be VERY careful. If you break one, you’ll probably need to find a new tube to use. We also discussed your question on Episode 31 of our Live Show. Make sure you check it out to hear our thoughts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5fHo2Oki7KdotU

Hey man I have a robocop I need too wire the monitor up I replaced aka power wire but not sure how or what too it’s not even cut yet still has wall end on it
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 4 жыл бұрын
So, it sounds like you have a monitor that has a wall plug on it and you're trying to wire it up inside your cabinet. If this is the case, you should be able to cut it off and wire it to any incoming AC point in your cabinet. We like to use an AC distribution block but that's not a requirement. Again, pretty much anywhere in your cabinet where you're getting AC power (power cord, AC filter, power supply, etc.) should work. Also, just wanted to let you know that we will be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 46 on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 5:30 PM CT. Here's a link to the episode if you want to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJSoaJ6GgtyFhpY. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.

Can you tell me where the loose wire go, on my arcade video floor unit, sound works but no picture because of loose wire
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on where the loose wire is connected currently. Try tracing it back to the connected end and see where it goes. If it's connected to the harness for your game board, you should be able to determine where the loose end should connect by using the pinouts for your particular game. If it's connected to a particular part (such as the monitor chassis), the loose end probably connects to the harness for the game board. If you need additional help, please email us at questions@arcaderepairtips.com. Good luck with your repair.

Can you safely clean the back of the monitor with a cloth, when it's not discharged? Just the back of the actual monitor chassis.
@arcaderepairtips
@arcaderepairtips 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but we wouldn't recommend a cloth. We prefer to use canned air and/or an anti-static brush for cleaning purposes. Go-ahead and say chassis anyway you want. We know what you mean and where you are from. It is a French word. If we tried to say it to a Frenchman's satisfaction, we would all look ignorant. If a TX accent causes you to fail to understand the content of these excellent videos, then I would find you strange. Read this eurouc: dictionary.reference.com/browse/accent?s=t Accents are long standing parts of verbal communication which add texture and identity to spoken word. Maybe you are simply too ignorant to understand. Maybe you are French. As I am French-Canadian and have half my family living in the Bayou posing as Cajun, I am offended by you either way. EuroTrash might be a better name for you.
