This is a great channel keep up the great work man The funny part was that I already knew it was the flyback but I have like 15 years experience of doing this from working in arcades in New York City most of the time it's always the flyback or the hot that destroys the fuse crazy but I'm happy you explain to people about arcing a lot of people don't know about that that shit kills people

Awesome video is it possible to replace the tube that comes out of the back of the CRTs the people I just bought this Tetris cabinet from broke it and loading and I'm trying to figure out whether I can get a tube or whether I need to replace the whole CRT
@arcaderepairtips2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is possible to replace the tube. The problem is finding a tube that's the right size and that's compatible with your monitor chassis. Finding a replacement tube will most likely require scavenging local thrift shops for a CRT TV that has one that is compatible. If you don't have the time or desire to do a tube search, you can always install a new LCD monitor in your cabinet instead. If you need additional help with your issue, we will be discussing your question on our Live Show Episode 67 which can be found at the following link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jovKl597iLObqKs

Is there a video explaing what replacing the "hot" is? Thanks!
@arcaderepairtips3 ай бұрын
The HOT is the Horizontal Output Transistor. If you need help identifying where the HOT is located on your monitor chassis, send some pics of your chassis (or the make/model of your chassis if you know it) to questions@arcaderepairtips.com and we can help you find it. If you are looking for a video explaining a bit more about the HOT, our Volume 2 DVD has an extended cut of this video (Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind) that shows more detail about this repair. The DVD also has a bonus video on Checking The Horizontal Output Transistor that discusses how to test them. You can get our Volume 2 DVD from our online store at www.arcaderepairtips.com/store/

Do you do cap replacements on monitors?
@arcaderepairtips4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, we are not taking any monitor repairs at this time, but we do have several people we recommend. Chad at arcadecup.com is a very reputable guy and has a pretty fast turnaround time. You could also contact our friend Paul at paulsmonitors.com. He has answered several questions on our Facebook page in the past and definitely knows what he's doing. There is a list of additional monitor repair technicians on our resources page at www.arcaderepairtips.com/resources/ under the Monitor Repair Services & Information heading as well. Hope that helps.

First of all I love your videos and have used them several times to troubleshoot my games! Huge Thanks!!! I am working on a Bally Midway Space Invaders, I have just upgraded to a switching power supply. Before the new power supply was installed it would only show a garbage screen and bark noise out (my +12 was fluctuating usually low and the power on reset was dead). Now I have the game somewhat working, it will alway play blind but if I fiddle around with it, the monitor will display the game. It is usually a jumpy image that gradually fades to black, but the game is playing. Even with the monitor black I still have neck glow. I have ordered the supplies to build a power on rest circuit with plans on installing it asap (I think this issue is unrelated to my blind play issue). I would greatly appreciate any and all advise you can offer! Thanks, Johnny Jones

Does the flyback replacement need to be specific to the monitor / chasis?

Yes, the flyback is specific to the chassis. Make sure you identify your chassis so you know which flyback to order hope that helps. I have an arcade machine but it’s not quite playing blind, however the image is unrecognizable. Almost as if the image has been vertically stretched and distorted beyond belief. It only happened when I switched the jamma pcb to a new 60 in 1. I really need help fixing this problem
@arcaderepairtips3 жыл бұрын
It sound like the hold/sync settings are going crazy when you plug in the 60-in-1 board. You can try adjusting them with the 60-in-1 board plugged in to see if it helps the issue. See our post and video on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information. If you have an Electrohome G07 monitor chassis in your cabinet, you may try installing the sync mod that The Real Bob Roberts talks about on his site: www.therealbobroberts.net/g07notes.html

I have a cocktail table Pac Man original. Upon start up, it does kooky things graphically, like, the processor is going thru it’s checks and screen blinks and resets a few times for about 2 minutes and then game starts up and plays perfectly. Any areas I should focus attention on, to probably address a potential issue?
@arcaderepairtips Жыл бұрын
Always a good idea to start at power on resetting issues like this. Make sure that good voltage is getting to the board (harness) and through the board (roms). Check your fuses and your fuse holders to make sure they are correct and working. Inspect the harness and clean your edge connector pins as well. Make sure that all seated chips are making a good connection to the board. I need help with my 1980 eagle arcade I took off the light on top which had the start button in it and throw it away. not knowing I needed it now my game will not turn on would you have a old light with a plug with 6 wires for sale or how can I wire a switch to start game
@arcaderepairtips2 жыл бұрын
Kris, unfortunately we do not have this part for sale. With that said, you should be able to determine which wires are for the marquee light and which ones are for the power switch by tracing them back to their origins. An off-the-shelf under cabinet light and a standard power switch should work as replacements. Hi Guys, I have a deluxe space invaders. I can see the game come on if i look through the glass and down. I have a Galaga 3 cab that plays blind but when I turn off the power, the screen flashes white. Then when I turn it back on it flashes white again then goes away. Oh, forgot! I also have a Cruisin USA that works when it wants to! It has power because front lights are on, but occasionally the game just won't come on, not blind. What would a repair like that cost? I have a golden tee that was playing screen went blank and had a smoke smell . Turned off and unplugged it. I could still here the game playing when I turned it off
@arcaderepairtips2 жыл бұрын
So, if you were to take the monitor chassis out of your cabinet yourself and ship it off to a monitor repair technician, you're probably looking around $200-$350 after shipping costs and the repair. It just depends on what parts on the chassis need to be replaced. If you have someone come out and do an on-site repair, the price will be more. Hope that helps.

Hi, you say that if the fuse blows on your monitor board it's not than likely a diode, your flyback, or your "hot." could you please explain to me what the "hot is on the monitor board and how to check it? I have a board that blew a fuse but everything looks normal. Thanks
@trollobite16295 жыл бұрын
Well, if you don't know your way around a monitor board and especially the fly back transformer you definitely shouldn't be working on it because it's not unusual for the HT voltage to be in excess of 20 thousand Volts and can definitely kill you. Send it off to the pros if you're still alive.
@Gendo3s2k5 ай бұрын
12 year old video, but .. Whatever lol In my case, the monitor was working fine, until i moved there cab to a new location. Now it plays blind. I do have neck glow. Checked all of the connections to make sure nothing came loose, and it's all Guten-tite... Any ideas?
@arcaderepairtips4 ай бұрын
Since you recently moved the cabinet and the monitor stopped working, there’s a good chance that you are having a connection issue of some sort. We would definitely recommend checking all of the connections again especially the monitor input and power wires to ensure these are all connected properly. Now, there is a chance that moving the game jostled something on the monitor chassis and caused it to stop working. In this case, check out our post on Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind (www.arcaderepairtips.com/2012/05/14/troubleshooting-games-that-are-playing-blind/) for more info on the repair. We will also be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 90. Here's a link to the episode if you want to watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qorCfZ6gi7t1qdU

you can tell if there is a (heavy) short by looking at the fuse. I can see a burn mark. So there is a (heavy) short. if the wire is only broken without burn mark , you can try it with only replacing the fuse :-)

Hello Lashawnda. Are you talking about the coin door of an arcade game or a change machine?
