VROOM VROOM My Dudes! I've had the Arcade1Up OutRun Cabinet for a couple weeks now and finally had a chance to put together a review. In this review we are looki ng at the Outrun Seated Arcade Cabinet version which is currently SOLD OUT on the Arcade1Up Website. In 2021 Arcade1Up has announced they intend on also releasing a Stand Up Version of this Cabinet and perhaps we will see more of these Seated Versions available as well!

my dad just fixed our original outrun arcade machine after years of it sitting. it hasn’t been able to turn left since i can remember. i’m 19 now and just played it for the first time. ive been playing for about two hours now and finally made it past my first third stage. definitely my favorite arcade game of all time. so glad that i can experience something that my dad got to enjoy as a kid, and props to sega because this game is wonderful.

One of my fav reviews of yours PDubs! I particularly like how you pointed out some seemingly simple problems that actually go a long way concerning presentation such as the seat side and rear graphics not resembling a car like they really should have. Also the controls not being sensitive enough for entering initials seems really important as well. And thanks for adding the Sega stickers--I thought I might have had to request you add them since the cab seemed especially naked w/o them :)

Not only has the bench been a major sore spot with other members of the community, I never played OutRun in the arcade in a seated orientation. Therefore, I will be holding off until the standing version is released... -OR- purchase an OutRun Control Deck and pedals (once they become available on their website) and convert a Star Wars A1Up cabinet. I would highly recommend putting this unit on a custom U shaped riser, so the pedals, AND your knees can fit under the steering console, and your feet can be more comfortably positioned, like in a real car. Dismantle the bench, and flip that on Ebay, and just roll a nice office chair up to that elevated cabinet, and play in proper comfort. Thanks for sharing this.

A giant seat would be awesome... but I think a comfortable cushion and good mindful artwork is really the most one could expect A1UP to make for the benches while keeping the cost down. You can’t add a backrest or tall sides because that instantly limits the size of person who can sit in it. So a “stool” type bench is really the most universal option. And honestly, I’m cool with that. Never played outrun but looking forward to future racing games from A1UP!

I'm 6' 200+ pounds and, though I may look like a doofus, which I could care less about because we all look like doofuses with our mid-life crisis home arcades anyway lol, I have to disagree that one should wait for the stand up. The sit down experience is great. I have 8 cabs and this has by far overtaken all the others in terms of sheer replay value. Golden Tee can still hang, followed by Star Wars and NBA Jam, but this cab just keeps drawing me back. And my kids love it. I think this is a great effort overall. Agree the bench is kind of weak and the cushion is poor, but not many of us are going to spend hours on end looking like doofuses. It works for the 20 or 30 minute spurts we use it for. I'm a big fan, and I'm not really even into Outrun games. The gameplay rocks, and sitting down is the way to go, assuming you don't want to do it for hours and gain back aches and hind end pain. Love this cab.

There’s nothing wrong with being a doofus and owning up to it. The whole bench design is lame and lack of effort. They could’ve come up with something much better especially with the lack of cost put into the pedals, etc. however I 100% respect your opinion and appreciate you sharing it and watching my review.

@@PDubsArcadeLoft wholeheartedly agree the bench is a weak effort, but it works and I don't find the positioning to be too bad. And, yes, the pedals could be better quality too, though I will say my 3 year old little girl beats them up (she has a bit of an interesting driving style lol) and they are hanging in there. I'm just really loving the experience, and added a bass shaker for rumble seat effect and that makes it even better. Love all your content, man. Keep up the good work!

Have you tried calibrating your steering wheel so you don’t have that issue putting in your initials in the score column? I was not able to replicate on my machine the issue you’re having. Mine moves one letter at a time with ease. Maybe calibrating the steering wheel would help with that??

If anyone is reading this 2 years later, I have a question: I'm hoping you or one of your other viewers can help with this. I have found a local A1Up Out Run cab for an extremely reasonable price. On the face of the cabinet, there is the "Supreme" logo. It looks just like the logo on those expensive Mortal Kombat cabs that were sold by that third party a year ago. But I can find no reference to a Supreme version of Out Run. I may end up buying the cab regardless, but was just curious if you or anyone had any ideas as to whether or not this was something actually modded by Supreme.

With a little height on the cab, a wider deck like their 4 player deck to distance the shifter as well as a seat and I'd be a buyer. Maybe some effort on the artwork like you mentioned too. They should have just made the obvious upgrades and popped us at $600. Hope all is well sir

Great review as always. Was wondering how does your PCB fan sound? Mine seems pretty loud. Especially when you first turn it on and the game sounds don't drown it out.

Yes the PCB has a slight buzzing sound from the fan they are now using on the new board but once you are playing a game can't really hear it

Yep, even the replacement sticker for the steering wheel (as shown later in the video) wasn't the real Ferrari logo. I suppose nobody wants to get sued by Ferrari, and the cost of licensing the rights would be far too much. Stick to the original!

Hey PDubs- I wanted to gauge your perspective on an idea here...I love the seated driving feel but the cabinet looks so small as such compared to other cabinets, especially being a 1up 3/4 as well. I'm 6'3 so height of seeing the game shouldn't be a problem if I put the seated version on a Riser- do you think that would work at raising the cabinet height but still being an effective play?

There are custom risers that will lift it 3" or so on eBay, etsy, buy stuff store, etc. Woukd not recommend putting on a 12" Riser unless you are adding a super high seat

Power Drift is definitely fun. A lot of replay capability. Arcade 1Up should’ve release Super Off Road and Super Sprint instead. A lot of replay abilities and cheaper license.

Correct as I stated in the video you can take this and stick it on a normal arcade1up riser since the cable for the pedals is long enough.

Honestly I think the bench seat needs to be even lower. The cushion or if you buy a gaming chair should be lowered halfway down from where it is and then place the pedals further back inside the cab having them angled. With the seat lower this allows your body to sit in a more comfortable position leaning back against a chair with out your arms being fully extended and you'll be at eye level with monitor.

@@PDubsArcadeLoft crossed my mind. Haha. There's another way though to improve it by building a half sized riser for the cab raising it to the proper position for the bench. That's probably the easiest mod actually for those who bought tbis version. I've been hiking back and forth on what version to buy. I've been so gung ho about the stand up version because the cabinet design was built that way but now liking the idea of owning a sit down cab. I'd like to to put a subwoofer or bass shaker under the bench seat too. Sitdown seems fun now and different to add to my already stand up arcade collection.

I think this is the prototype for future driving cabinets. Once they release the better games like virtua racer and Daytona or crusin USA then hopefully the design will be even better. But then we have to wonder on the emulation of these games lol.

The height of the seat is fine, I’m more disappointed with the quality. “Dash vinyl arrived damaged, side panel damage, vinyl on side of seat torn. At 599 I paid (being in ny) very upsetting. I own 9 of these cabinets and can deal with some defects at the 299-399 price point but not acceptable at 599.

@@coderedclips4195 At least your controls work. I received my Outrun on Black Friday and it didn't work out of the box. I removed the ribbon cable and reconnected it and got the controls working for a few days, then it stopped working again. Put in a ticket and I'm still waiting for a ribbon cable. I hope that it's a fix. I'm getting very impatient.

If I would have bought this from a brick and mortar retail store, I would have already returned it. It's obviously defective. They must not check these things before shipping them? I kept getting the bot also. I kept going in and out clicking customer service until I could create a ticket. A second ticket was merged also cause I replied to their email congratulating me on receiving my OutRun telling me to enjoy it. Yeah, enjoy your broken $600 arcade dude! Wow

As much as i wanted it i agree with you to wait for the stand up version if that. This seated one is just way too small for many IMO. Cool for the kids but for us 1up cabinet guys with risers, i just don't think it fits in right due to the look/size. They could have went a few more inches up and added a decent cushion to sit on.

Really hard to purchase one here in MTL. I don't really trust their delivery since they don't seem to care how they ship things. Also the outrun cab without the seat is nearly 1000 Canadian. Not gonna have one in my home any time soon :(

As I said in the video, the colors shading light effect quality of the graphic etc look great. Removal of certain logos due to licensing has zero impact on my opinion of it. This marquee looks great and vivid and colorful vs a boring pacman marquee

@Chris Dandino I received my Outrun day after Thanksgiving and the controls do not work. I have a long wait to try a new ribbon cable. I was telling PDubs that I'm growing very impatient. Have to wait another week to see if the ribbon cable corrects the issue. I feel that they should have overnighted that to me. If it doesn't I don't know what they are going to do for me? Everytime I look at this non working OutRun I get upset. It turns on and off but that's all that it will do. We have seven Arcade1up machines and I think that this will be the last for me... 😑

This last one, the fact it was not perfect right from the box, and the fact that they are kind of ignoring pleas for help (my guess is until we are past 30 days so they can say no to a return) have soured me so much on their product I cancelled my pinball order. I hope you get your part soon. I am pretty salty right now

Lol true story but the main point that I was trying to make if the joke went over your head is that the cabinet is good, the games play great, the sit down version and terrible lazy design of the bench seat is simply ridiculous. They could've made them better.
