I just wanted to pop in and remind everyone of the awesome synergy between Tree of Redemption and High Alert. You can tap the tree to swap its toughness with your life total (lets say 40) then untap it with High Alert so that you can now attack with a 40/40 creature. If you also have Suspicious Bookcase or Rogue's Passage you can make that 40 damage unblockable! I won a game last week doing just that.

That’s nice and all when it works but beware of people being able to interact with it. I saw someone do it when they had 30 something life. It got spot removed and now they where at 13 life total with nothing to show for it. When it works it’s awesome but it has a big downside if it doesn’t

It's really neat how much further a modest upgrade can take a deck. The fact that a deck filled with defenders isn't going to be doing a lot of blocking adds an amount of irony that I just love! But I guess that even with the upgrades Illusionary Wall and Wall of Shards are destined to be in a different deck

I built Arcades in December based off of yours with a few of my own upgrades. I put a little more than $100 so I have shocks and meekstone but we put on and took out a lot of the same cards. Great job! Looking forward to the next budget build!

I just ordered this deck a few days ago and went ahead and fully upgraded it while I was at it. You put in almost every piece I upgraded with and removed almost every card I decided to remove. Very nice. Can't wait to run this deck.

PSA: you get infinite Mana with high alert and axebane guardian if you have 5+ defenders on the field so you can play all those defenders you're drawing with arcades immediately

I'd like to thank you getting me into EDH, I've really learned a lot about budget building from you guys, and even if I haven't built any of your decks the knowledge I've gained has been invaluable and I'm working towards my first ever deck (as a Canadian it ends up closer to $35 than $25) Keep the good content coming! (ps. I'd love to see a Niv-Mizzet dracogenius deck tech, I feel good old Nerf-Mizzet lives all to often in the shadow of his first and third iteration)

If you have enough mana, you can make Tree of Redemption unblockable (I know at least two cards that can fit this deck that can do that) and untap it in the same turn (maybe with High Alert), exchanging your life total with it, & hitting in for 30, 40 unblockable damage!

I love Arcades, but my friends hate him for the most part. I run him as a commander and he's so fast most of the time. The deck just pops easy. This is by far the best improvement for Defenders since Doran, the Seige Tower. I did find this video helpful though. So Thank you CQ

If anyone wants a planeswalker for this deck go for Elspeth, Sun's Champion! On his budget version of this deck I noticed he shared awesome white spells that kill opponents creatures with greater power than your walls such as slaughter the strong and fell the mighty. Elspeth will be able to pop out for you consistently little 1/1 tokens and kill off creatures with power 4 or greater. If you get her ultimate you got yourself an emblem for +2+2 and flying for all your creatures. I'd try to avoid the emblem tho since it can mess with your other white board wipes. Another great option for the walls (and I just ordered it in the mail) is Akroma's Will. For one turn and if you have your commander out you're going to give all walls flying, vigilance, double strike, lifelink, indestructible, and protection from colors until end of turn. Thirdly and the last card idea is having dusk//dawn for another big creatures board wipe (again won't get rid of your walls) and its second spell dawn has an aftermath ability to use from the graveyard to bring your walls back at a later time to your hand. Would like to add Door of Destinies to the mix for possible upgrades. Artifact that when it comes into play you can choose a creature type, when that creature enters the battlefield put a +1/+1 counter on it. Creatures you control of chosen type get +1/+1 for each charge counter on Door of Destinies. Since over half your creatures are walls you can get a lot of free bump for most of your creatures

I also built Arcades -deck, but focusing on Defender/Equipment -base, since equipments for power are more manaexpensive, than equipment for toughness. + Stoneforge Mystic, Hammer of Nazahn & Masterwork of Ingenuity -combo are fairly budjet friendly cards (in EU at least).

I know it can be a little more pricey, but a Planeswalker package works well in the deck due to it's natural state to pillowfort & almost constant one sided board wipes. I run Elspeth and she's great, but there's some real power in Huatli and the Bant Tamiyo to have some really explosive turns.

I’d consider adding some minor Stax pieces like meek, crawlspace or even aurification to help manage the amount of creatures coming your way. It gave me the option to build my deck with lower toughness walls that have good abilities/etb abilities instead of having to lean on the aggro big walls that tend to not have as good of etb abilities or even have much else then just being big.

this was apparently your first 25 $ for 99 cards commander, before this you included the commander in your price. I'm watching the episode now to see the original deck. I really like this one, I have been building Phenax, God of Deception and he also focuses on creatures with high toughness, but that is mill instead of damage.

You can also use tree of redemption to lower your life to 13 and hit your enemy for up to 40 life points. If you were going to pull something like this, it would probably be in a one on one game, but it’s definitely an interesting quick win opportunity. You might get away with this by turn 5 or 6 if you can manage to avoid taking damage with all those walls.

I’ve played my arcades wall deck for quite some time now and I can’t stress enough about adding some interactions. What good is having an army of walls if the other 3 players keep finding ways to disrupt your ability to attack or what if they just ramp faster then you this game and drop a torment of hellfire with infinite mana. a wall won’t save you then but a simple Counterspell will. Your wins will be less explosive or quick but you will win more often this way. It does make for longer games but like I say Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was their walls 😂

Hehe how funny, you made my first and onlyever commander deck tech I followed, skullbriar. Thing is the past few weeks our group has dome voltron a lot,so the others got tired of it, especially since when one goes off, its game, like when skullbriar gets double strike with ten counters, or bruna, if you dont know what she does, look it up, but it got toxic, so we banned voltron for now, and I was tthinking what should I do now, and thought about arcades, and well recently got a large amount of money due to family holidays, and well, yeah so thanx brother

Arcades + Beast Within + Guardian Project = draw 3 for casting a defender. Also there is an artifact defender worth 2 that taps to "creatures you control have haste until eot", and it's cheaper than a dollar. Also Primal Rage, an enchantment for 1G with "creatures you control have trample". Nice, huh?

Would the 4 break the bank decks be the most "balanced" against each other? The group I play with is basically trying to make a "battle cube" of 4 balanced decks to change between. Worked pretty well with the 25 dollar ones so I imagine it'll be exciting to see what a difference the 100 dollar ones will be.

If you have stalwart shield-bearers, axebane guardian , tree of redemption, two other creatures with defender, and high alert, not only do you have infinite mana with axebane guardian, by tapping tree of redemption and using high alert to untap him you have infinite life gain and infinite toughness for tree redemption.
