Watch It Paint It, normaly with fire base things i perfer to go from bright to darker colors. Like you mention, yellow over black is a nightmare. I would have save time with yellow/orange/red colors but the way you did, saved you time with the magma/rock dark areas. Like i said, what it matters is the end result and the way you did was great. For the white you should have just used a wash. If you used a medium you could add white to it and create a white wash, touch your brush to the crack and it will flow into it and give you a bit more depth to the white.

Seriously great stuff as always! I LOVE how dry brushing makes rock textures "pop" so well with so little effort. You could see this same effect in your Cliffbreaker Cyclops video. The model reminds me of painting Descent's Ynfernael Hulk monster. I wish I recorded my work at the time :( oflex.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Descent-Shadow-of-Nerekhall-board-game-nastolnaya-igra7.jpg Could you comment on why you started with white and then painted red on top of it? I understand why that was done but some viewers might not :) I personally hate how long it can take to paint brightly on black primer (though you seemed to not have much trouble) and would have gone with a gray primer to hit the middle.
@WatchItPaintIt7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think this model is PERFECT for dry brushing! It makes it very easy, and it actually works really well. Oh yah, those Hulks would have been easy with dry brushing too. I said during the video didn't I why I was painting it white first? 4:00

The white contrast paint is actually grey! Where it pools in the recesses you get grey, the white comes from where it runs off the raise (highlights). I wouldn’t think it would work at all well for this effect! Hope this helps

dwarvendarkness maybe you could start with over brushing black? Any recesses that don’t catch would be the lava areas? It could make for faster and easier (brighter) painting up of the lava!
