Arcana Domain Cleric | D&D 5E | The Dungeon

I love this domain, mine is rapidly approaching level 17. I’ve seen one in play, level 20, which was an awesome experience. He went with Simulacrum and of course copied himself, leaving him with 2 Wish spells and 2 automatic divine intervention uses. One interesting use I saw was casting Wish to cast Hallow to give energy vulnerability and he used the 2 divine interventions to cast Foresight on me the barbarian and the other damage doer, it was awesome. I plan to take Mass Suggestion, Simulacrum, Mind Blank and Wish and by no means will i multiclass to miss out on the automatic divine intervention.

This domain is pretty solid! With the Cleric and Wizard spell lists available this character can be a Swiss Army knife. The Channel Divinity reinforces this by sending even more creature types running. Lastly, I think that the Domain being a Arcane Magic focused faith is easier to get into role play-wise than being an edge lord Death Domain or a vanilla Life Domain Cleric with little personality. As always, great video! I loved the insight into higher level play.

This class is a good one just for the one lvl dip. Great review of the class

I agree, it's good for a 1 level dip for an Eloquence Bard or Lore Bard.

Arcana domain is great for eating through legendary resistances. Because unless they have turn resistance even Orcus will have to spend a minute running away from you at full speed.

To cast a ritual as a cleric, the spell must be prepared. For other clerics, this is not automatic

Illusory dragon still does damage even if they know it's an illusion. They just have advantage on the saving throws, but they still take half damage on a save.

Planeshift is already on the cleric spell list, I’d lean away from picking this with my Arcane Mastery. Personally I would take Simulacrum, make a duplicate of myself and use one Wish if needed whenever you need Forcecage.

IMO this is the best cleric subclass if the game starts at level 17 as it solves most of the late game problems and the mediocrity of their high level spells. otherwise it's one of the worse subclasses with a meh spell list. at 17, it gets the best reasons to play the wizard with the better cleric chassis. i'd pick contingency, simulacrum (if allowed) or forcecage, maze and wish (if allowed) or shapechange. for the cantrips, i'd definitely pick minor illusion (best cantrip in the game) and mind sliver (targets int which is the best thing to target across all tiers and it has a good debuff). agreed on disintegrate being great in older editions. it used to be my bread and butter on my 3.5E kineticist (con save psion). they had this ability that could pump their con temporarily to astronomical levels by expending power points (thus increasing their hp and dc saves) then i'd use disintegrate on the bbeg on that turn where it wasn't possible for them to save. imo the best target for a simulacrum is a main class warlock, especially when used by a genielock who does wish-simulacrum. a warlocks mystic arcanum isn't based on spell slots so the simulacrum can use those daily and recover them. moreover, warlocks have certain invocations which grant at-will spells or allow to cast spells without spell slots. lastly on a genielock this also means that the simulacrum can also cast limited wish.

This path for a cleric gives me ideas. Lol most of which my DM would hate. But would be a way to retire the character Turn myself into a dragon. Preferably a Steel Dragon. This class gets access to the correct spells. Lol
