The doctor's question to Silco, "Are you prepared to lose her", isn't really about her dying. As he said, he thinks he CAN save her. What he's asking, but Silco doesn't pick up on or care to take in, is are you prepared that what I must do to save her life may CHANGE her? Are you prepared for the person who walks out of here, alive, may not be the same girl that you carried in? Silco is clearly NOT prepared for that - he doesn't allow the thought into his mind at all.

17:54 Adam is kinda right, because Viktor ran out of shimmer, which protects him from the negative effects (as we see him using it in plants some episodes ago) which could have lead to him being vaporize, but when Sky tried to get him away, she was the one that got those negative effects, she did gave her life for him.

The negative effect you're talking about is the transmutation of organic matter. Viktor was absorbing the lives of the plants unknowingly. He absorbed Skye as well, leaving behind inorganic matter. She wasn't turned to ash, she was turned to iron and calcium. It's somewhat hinted that shimmer is some kind of "life" concentrate cultivated from the rare mutation, Rio.

I think when Viktor does it for the first time in episode 7, it's my favourite piece of soundtrack in the show. When the shimmer and hextech starts to mix with his blood is just pure epicness.

League of Legends lore is massive. Piltover and Zaun are only a small fraction of this giant world. Just to put things into perspective, there are currently 160 champions (playable characters) in the game, and only 8 of them are in Arcane (and we also got hints of 2-3 other). P.S Mel and her mom are not champions in the game, they are original characters for Arcane.

you're confused about the flashback, Mel is talking about installing a proxy ruler that her family controls, but then her mom says "perhaps she could be my daughter", and Mel says "you would give me a throne?". Ambessa (Mel's mom) just said it in third person, but the fact that when referring to her daughter Mel immediately knew that meant her shows she's very much Ambessa's daughter lol

@@AndrewLWilson the era in this show is WAY before Swain came into rule, in the Noxian invasion in Ionia, Rivens squadron was carrying toxic bombs bought from Singed and Swain was a general in that invasion where he lost his arm and made the pact with the demon. Since Singed isn’t working with the Noxians yet here, unless Swain is sent into Piltover to get the weapons from Singed and make the deal we’re unlikely to see him unfortunately.

the most tragic part for me is that sinking realization that of course in a city as poor as zaun, there's gonna be child labor. a part of me curses silco for using children in a shimmer factory. the other part of me acknowledges that these children's families are fed because of this.

Pretty much. Thinking "child labour = evil" is a very simplistic first world way of thinking. Hell even European countries had child labour during their industrialisation time period. It's just part of a nation's economic progress.

Yes, some people think child labor is a "Silco thing" but I disagree with that notion. Sure, it likely wasn't used to this extent before (cuz they had nothing like these factories before) BUT I firmly believe they already had forms of child labor. It kinda comes with the environment you know. Zaun is a very poor and very harsh place so everyone "has to carry their weight", their children reflect this for instead of being in school they are running errands and whatnot. (Vi's gang and Ekko in Act 1 showcase this.) These factory kids don't look underfed and are wearing protective gear, none of them greets Jayce and Vi like they are their saviors or something. Also note how Vi doesn't even react to there being child workers. Even Jayce paid more attention to the "next parents who will get a message their kid isn't coming home" instead of being upset of there being children in the first place. Thus I think child labor is kind of an "accepted" thing, born out of the poor state the undercity is.

It's life for the impoverished and people whose adults are trapped in more dangerous work (like the mines of Zaun which Silco and Vander worked in, which they spoke of in 3, and which Silco told the other Chembarons about in the meeting in 7.

It’s funny you said it as a joke but that is actually Jayces ult. He’s one of very few characters who has 2 different sets of 3 abilities depending on his hammer form or gun form with his ult being to switch between them

I find it interesting that the Hexcore absorbs Sky, and then right AFTER that it does its first wilful act in "punishing" Viktor. He's already given up on smashing it, so stealing his legs from under him then is punitive, not defensive. I figure the thing absorbed a being with its own will, and developed a will of its own from that template - as such, some part of Sky may still be in there and part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if that comes up in season 2.

Part of me feels like involving Sky as part of the hexcore could cheapen it, but at the same time I could see the Arcane writers figuring out a smart way of making it not seem cheesy. They've earned that benefit of the doubt at the very least. Personally, I feel as though the hexcore being cold and calculating fits pretty well up Viktor's future alley given what his character arc becomes in League lore, while also lining up better with the Singed callback, "Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress". He's already passed the point of no return, might as well lean into it. Then again, the Sky-speaking-through-the-hexcore angle could lead to his own twisted way of "reuniting" with her. So who knows, both could be fun if written well.

As I've said on the videos of other reactors, one of the more surprising things about Arcane, is that a lot of the characters, and some of the best written ones aren't even originally from League of Legends, and those who are have quite a different development. The story of Arcane is very densely packed and for the sake of making the show flow better a lot of the characters have a lot less degrees of separation from each other. If you ever have the time, I'd recommend to give it a second watch, there are so many details and story elements that are used, referenced and foreshadowed, with so many layers and tie-ins in almost every aspect that it's incredible a show like this came to be the way it is. Glad you're enjoying it so much.

"This is a bigger world than I thought." Piltover/Zaun is ultimately nothing in comparison. It's a major city-state pair in it's own right sure, but it's just a single location linking the northern and southern continents of Valoran and Shurima. Across those two landmasses, there is at least 6 other nations: Demacia, Noxus, Ixtal, old Shurima, Targon and Freljord. Beyond that there's Bilgewater's islands out in the ocean, and Ionia in another archipelago, and other continents further out east that haven't been introduced into lore fully. The show takes place entirely in one part of the twin cities, with only Mel and her mother Ambessa giving a look into outside, and in their particular instance it's a look at how the military leaders of Noxus ply their efforts in the world on their global quest to conquer all other nations. I'm sure you've probably found out by now, but a season 2 was announced to be in production already within a week of the end of the first season, well before any kind of performance metrics would come along to justify any kind of red tape assessment of whether a season 2 would be viable or not. I'm pretty sure Riot has enough money on hand to push as much as they need into producing the show that they want to without having to worry about extra seasons being cancelled if it doesn't perform well enough, the fact that it came out and was _so fucking good_ is just the cherry on top. They were always planning a season 2 at least from the outset, but with the demonstration that they've got some absolute lads on the show staff to be able to put out something so good that word of mouth exploded even among people that have no idea what a League of Legends is, I wouldn't be surprised if season 2 is just as good. Whether or not it ends there can't be guessed, but I think this sets enough of a benchmark to prove that Riot could full-on enter into 'television' and movie production and also put out bangers.

Surely they are gonna at least add more about Noxus, but I don't expect Arcane to be focused on it. Being Noxus related and knowing Singed participation on Ionia's invasion, at one point it gonna be at least named. But Freljord had nothing to do with Arcane, for example. I can't imagine a Freljordian visiting Piltover for any reason. Shadow's Isles neither. Ixtal is hard to imagine too.

Mel's mom is not a LoL character, at least not yet. They release new champions periodically and it's plausible that some new characters from the show will trickle into the game eventually and the other way around. Mel's brother Jae Medarda is a card unit in the LoL branch off game Legends of Runeterra and I had no idea he would be connected to the show even if they just referred to him in one scene and said he's dead, rip. I'd love if Ambessa becomes a champion, she's very cool and there are never too many muscular scarred women with swords!

@@Tabnito Dear Diary. I also met a clever young lad named Ekko who seems to have built a thriving community within the dysfunctional undercity. He is teaching me that a "safe" long life might not be what humans need to actually thrive. His people sail through the sky on obviously dangerous personal platforms and seem to really enjoy it. His lack of prudent caution has allowed him and his people to advance so much. I think I will stay with him for a while and see what insights I might glean from the human condition. Perhaps my scientific knowledge can help the undercity after all.

Silco and Jinx have a creepy toxic relationship IMO. He uses her for his gain and what she can do with her gadgets, but in the scene at 6:30, you notice that instead of kissing her on her skin of her forehead, he kisses the strap going over her forehead. The long fall of the kid Jayce accidentally shot was just for dramatic effect. I doubt it was actually that far up.
