This episode had my favorite scene, character moment, and microcosm of the entire series. With Viktor running behind, then along side, and eventually overtaking the boat in the background.
@Adirbal Жыл бұрын
To me it is next episode's final scene, it is so emotional and cathartic that it gives me goosebumps to matter how many times I see it.
@josewups8654 Жыл бұрын
An amazing thing about the Viktor scene is the foil of the direction of the running, as it foils how he chased after the boat he made as a child but couldn't catch it. He runs towards the boat, to the right, running in the direction of progress and his dreams, but in this scene, where he overtakes the large boats that he's finally made, he's running backwards. It is progress, but is it progress in the right direction? Truly a beautifully done scene.

Clever of the writers to make the first interaction between Heimer and Ekko be like: Ekko: You're wrong. It's designed for the fissures. Very loaded.
@fishleaf1093 Жыл бұрын
Given how much attention to detail they put in Visual Storytelling (i.e. Victor and the boats) I wouldn't put it past them to apply the same attention to their dialogue. Hopefully we get the same, if not better, quality in the next season!

Viktor’s running scene still gives me goosebumps. His primal scream, in combination with the stunning animation and score, packs such a dense emotional punch. Hands down my favorite moment of the show. I’m glad you enjoyed that moment so much as well.

"I really enjoyed Mel's mother" caught me off guard, I chuckled and now I got lentils in my nose. Thanks for that :D
@Sinewmire Жыл бұрын
Ambessa, Mel's mom is fantastic. She's quite unlike anyone we've seen so far, unapologetically dominant with a strong warrior's physicality. She has none of the cautious urbanity of Piltover, and none of the hunched inferiority of the Undercity. She steps off that airship like she owns the place. Ambessa isn't a politician or a mob boss, she is a Warlord.

I personally like Jayce fighting, because I could tell that he isn't used to it, and that the weight of the hammer is pulling him around.
@UndergroundRose Жыл бұрын
That doesn't make sense, they already established that hextech can carry its own weight (go to episode 4 for proof)

@@brezystorm4157 You could look at Vi gauntlet, when she make heavy punch, the clock go max red. It's believe that one of hextech function is store & tranfer force, like changing physical force vector. When Jayce hold the handler(at the begin of ep9), hextech "negate" gravity vector, and it could "release" the force upon impact.

Really like the scene where Cait is obsessing over the interaction in the rain with Vi, trying to think of any scenario where it could have been different, looking like she's refusing to accept the out come and most importantly - her blood mixing with the water showing if she really was the oil to Vi's water, that wouldn't be the case.

For "Rio" and "The mutation must survive"... I believe that Rio is the source of "shimmer". Rio's mutation turns the purple flowers that she eats into shimmer, maybe in her blood or some other mutated organ. Since shimmer is the root base of "The Doctors" research then we can see why he feels that she "must survive".
@ivostefanoperezatencio4229 Жыл бұрын
Shimmer is extracted out of worm like creatures. If you look up in episode 3 when Silco's gang arrive at thier base with Vander and pay a little attention you'll see them. In episode 9 there's a mass of them stucked at the top of the shimmer machine. They appear breefly in both occations but they are there. I don't know if you know anything about the LoL lore, but they are probably minor creatures of "The Void", something that's probably worth their own separate series.

Im pretty sure that shimmer comes from Rio.

There are soooo many parallels in this show. Also love how almost every episode starts with a flashback, but not for the firefights who are focused on building a future.

"Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress" is pretty much the defining statement about Victor's story arc in Season 1 of Arcane. He hoped to restore his body and to secure his legacy, but in trying to do so, he ended causing the death of his love interest and turning his greatest creation into an abomination.

While child labor is something in our society is seen as rather abhorrent, in the undercity, life expectancies are cut short due to the toxic conditions in their environment. Vander was taking care of Claggor, Mylo, Vi, and Powder. Even though he wasn't married and didn't have great means to be able to provide for them, he took in four orphans. Government run orphanages don't seem to be an option for when a kid loses their parents. No government programs for food, medicine, shelter, schools, and when the meager amount of resources available all come with a cost, how is a child on their own going to be able to survive? Well, there's one industry that is bringing in a profit, and that's shimmer. You see the vast amount of shimmer being transported in just one of those airships that the firelights attacked. Money that in turn Silco can use to fund his operations, but also be able provide for the workers in his factories. It's an ugly situation, but with the conditions how they are, it's the best of the bad options they have available. The alternative is living in those deeper underground slums like where Vi and Caitlyn go after Vi got stabbed.
@peacepham7838 Жыл бұрын
You don't even need to look at fiction world, just third world countries is enough. Either the kids get to work, or the family will just starve, and one of them will have to die. As much as ppl hate it, and doesn't matter how many campain were there again it(like what ppl doing to Nestle), those children WILL HAVE TO work, or DIE, many ppl just don't understand that. The best you could do, is ask for good payment to those children, NOT forbid those business.

It wasn’t until you said something about another bridge that I realized that there are multiple bridge fights that are very meaningful to the story. Right at the start was the bridge Vander led people to try to cross, leading to many deaths. There is the bridge in the third episode where Vi and Vander fought Silco’s gang. Then we are back to the big bridge in episode 7, with Ekko trying to extend a hand by offering the hextech crystal back, only to be stopped by the corrupt enforcers. Then this episode has Jayce and Vi working together to stop Silco, only to add to the casualties of this conflict. Do you have any thoughts on symbolism of the bridges here or anything else about why they keep coming up?

You have a supporter here for your crackpot Rio theory. Either that or Rio is crucial to researching how to bring his daughter back. The way he emphasizes twice that the mutation _MUST_ survive has to be setting up something bigger than merely seeing it in a big jar a few hours later. Worth more pondering after an episode 9 scene.

I mean theory wise there is a chance he is not wrong per say. Like there is a theory that Rio is the test subject where the doctor put his daughter's illness into an animal in hope of finding the cure. Like a scientist giving a geanui pig cancer to find a cure for cancer for example.

In regard to the daughter of singed (the doctor), neither sevika nor Rio are his daughters, but the later could be a variation of his daughters name who is called orianna in the game. I assume they will go into the story in the second season, otherwise there would be no reason for them to mention it.
@chaedi8457 Жыл бұрын
You can actually see Singed looking at a picture of his daughter in what looks like a locket at the end of episode 9. If you zoom in on the picture the girl in the picture does look like Orianna as a human. I believe everything Singed has been doing has been experimentations to come up with a plan to bring his daughter back. Hextech may be the key for him.

Not spoiling, just speculating about Mel's mom. I have the feeling she'll be really important in the push for weaponizing Hextech. She alluded to it in this episode. Her showing up is mostly setup for her and Noxus' influence in later seasons. That's why she's introduced so late.
