One of Arcanes best attributes is how every element used to illustrate the difference between the 2 cities no matter how small feels considered. Like consciously you'd not think about food carrying any significance and it's never really brought up but the way it shows Zaun relying more on meat compared to Piltover using more sweet foods e.g cakes. Is a nice way of showing the luxury/conditions that one has over the other.
@linesinmotion2 жыл бұрын
The food difference is a really good point! The sloshy meat was a sight for sore eyes for poor Caitlyn 😂😂

Zaun also shows a reliance on seafood. Seems like a nod to pre-industrial Europe where anything that wasn’t a fish was considered undesirable. The crab, lobster, shrimp, calamari etc… That market reversed because supply and demand raised the price and its desirability. Would be an interesting bit of history if they’re intentionally showing the lesser known fact that seafood used to be peasant food.

i just realized from the editing in your essay that Silco was "reborn" in water while Powder's fall from grace moment was wreathed in flames. thats cool.

@@linesinmotion It's so interesting to see how Pixar & Sony have advanced animation in different ways. I saw a video Insider put out about how Pixar literally created half the technology we use in 3D software every day like character rigs & rendering advanced textures. I feel like there's a bit of a Resurgence in Stop Motion, now that's exciting! The House on Netflix is so uncanny, those tiny faces are just perfect 😂 I thought La Casa Lobo was an anomaly but I'm glad I was wrong (Anomalisa is also a great mind Bending film)

Great editing and video as always! The bridge scene of Silco and Jayce is one of my favourite examples of the environmental storytelling. The bridge is reminiscent of the past conflict yet the only hope of compromise, set against a twilight red sky that exists between the light of Piltover and the darkness of Zaun, yet can turn into a violent red in the blink of an eye

I'm not sure the area Viktor played in as a kid is the Sump. Its possible they changed it for the show, but in the lore the sump is the bottom level of Zaun. The upper potion of Zaun, including the cannery where Silco operated out of in act 1 and the area Viktor played in as a kid, is all the Promenade Level, while what we saw of the fissures is likely all the Entresol Level, (except maybe the darker area where Vi and Powder used to live that is now inhabited by shimmer addicts, which could possibly be part of the sump).

You're right! I saw people in the Arcane subreddit saying this! (I still have a lot to learn from the whole LoL lore). That it's not fully known as zaun yet in the show. In context, I guess I'm saying zaun because "the undercity" is a mouthful to say a lot of times haha, and most audiences know what i mean 😂
@vanteal2 жыл бұрын
@@linesinmotion I only learned myself not too long ago..Also, did you notice Vi's shoulder shrug she does throughout the entire series? It's damaged from the steel door falling on her in Ep:3. It probably aches constantly and gets stiff easily. She often does it just before or during combat to try and loosen it up. It's the little things like that that make Arcane so great.

Your writing/narrations style is something. Honestly, perfectly in place with the quality of the series just covered. I legitimately don't recall listening to a better flowing opinion piece that is so impersonal, yet mirrors what I imagine sometimes goes through out head when we think critically. I can't imagine how long this took to compose, and how long the proper footage that's seemingly always perfectly timed to match what you're saying. And as I hinted at before, it's not like most videos "See guys, look, you see the green lighting right? Yeah that's trying to invoke X feeling, imagine what it would feel to breath air this color". No, the video is presented as a constant run-on sentence/thought, but without literally any of the negatives that would come to mind when saying such a thing. Simply an every progressing thought almost. Can't tell if it's the voice or the pacing, but seriously surprised how well presented this is.
