Trigger is also my favorite studio an they did NOT disappoint. I adore everything about this adaptation, and the weekly schedule made me realize how much I prefer that format. It just feels right, like good old days. Also, Yoshinari making a whole dragon animation secuence without even blinking? Hilarious. What a legend
@linesinmotion4 ай бұрын
The weekly schedule is my preferable way to watch anime, despite how much Netflix sometimes tries to push the binge option on us. And Yoshinari..... The man, the legend. I really want to know what clip it was that he *wanted* to work on, rather than the dragon sequence.

It used to be so hard to come across any dungeon meshi fanart, and after the anime dropped we're just spoiled for choice! It's such a joy to see so many people enjoying a manga that's been a long time favorite personally (it also made physical copies of the manga be more available in my region, as it used to be so so rare to find)

I adore Dungeon Meshi's manga. But god did Trigger do a fantastic job adapting it. I love that Ryoko Kui was so insistant that the manga be finished before getting adapted into an anime. It allows for some incredible forshadowing that the manga didn’t have. Only one of the paintings from Marcille's dream is from the manga. In the manga most of the frames are empty, but in the anime they are full of foreshadowing. It's such a fantastic bit of silent story telling. The openings are also riddled with forshadowing for the ENTIRE story, not just the season. As a manga fan I adore the adaptation

One of the things I love most about this show is how much like a tabletop RPG it is. And I don't mean in the setting and races and mechanics... I mean in how you have a group of people faced with impossible tasks and they gleefully find the most batshit crazy ways of overcoming it. "Hide behind the pile of dead bards" has the same energy as "I'm going to plant vegetables in a golem".

Youre so right comparing the release schedules or Delicious in Dungeon to From me to You. I was glad to watch it all at once, but it felt like it didnt stick as long, even if it was incredible and a step up compared to the past seasons. Even bigger bummer that i was excited to go into the 6(?)th episode, only to realise it was a recap (seriously why do they do that i hate it). Delicious in Dungeon though? There was something to talk about all the time, it was easy to digest (lol), anticipation was on a whole other level waiting for the thursday releases, i even rewatched the entire thing partway through because i wanted to watch more. If both shows came out with similar release schedules, i do still think Delicious in Dungeon would be more popular, but it would have helped From me to You's presence much more than how it released.

I wasn't planning to watch the anime when it came out, I kept pushing it away but then I saw the translation/adaptation of the title in spanish (I'm mexican). They literally adapted "Dungeon Meshi", not to "Delicious in Dungeon" but to "Tragones y Mazmorras", which is a clever pun: Tragones means sweet tooth or glutton, if you change T to D, it spells Dragones (literally dragons). The mf who did the translation literally played with Dungeons and Dragons' title in spanish, Dragones y Mazmorras. Simple but clever and catchy af. Latin spanish dub is also good tbh. Tragones y Mazmorras, oh, tragones y mazmorras.

Regarding dubs: On the high seas, there floats a copy of the first episode that mixes the different language dubs together. Chilchuck's slightly sarcastic tone obviously works well in english, but the undertone of arrogance just comes off perfectly in french Senshi, and nothing can beat the disparity between cute and angry like german Marcille. It's a showcase of how there is great dub-work across the world, and even though it is futule, i'd love to see the rest of the show in that way too.
