There are some region cinematic misssing, like Targon, Bandle City and SShurima, And no, Arcane has its own canon even tho it takes a lot from LoL and LoR lore; in Arcane, there are many events in every character's background that are missing or heavily changed, a well as important character that apparently doesn't exist: i.e.: in LoL Hextech exist from several centuries before the events of Arcane and the one with the Hextech monopoly in Piltover is a woman called Camille, Jayce and Haimerdinger (who is not against magic or weapons at all) have absolutely nothing to do with the integration of hextech in Piltover

@@georgieegames Imo it's all about understanding the goal of the clips made. It's less about creating a single coherent story, something which imo is impossible to do in the first place, and more about a sense of "wouldn't this be cool?". Tigers with wings? Sure, why the fuck not, it's cool. That's the reason it's there. You want to have some characters in a high school setting? A pool party? A gothic city? A pop group? Yes, yes, yes and yes.

I think it's better that Riot Games started over with the lore in Arcane, instead of relying too heavily on what was already established - It makes it easier for people who are unfamiliar with League of Legends (like me) to be eased into the lore and gradually learn everything as the story progresses, rather than being expected to retain massive exposition dumps every episode. It also makes sense that when writing a long, coherent story that they had to adjust certain things to fit the overarching narrative - where the disconnected cutscenes/cinematics of the games didn't necessarily need to tie perfectly together - as long as they didn't outright contradict each other. As an aspiring amateur writer I've definitely discovered that it's a lot easier to write many separate, independent scenes from the same setting/universe, rather than one interwoven story that connects all the dots. Playing "connect-the-dots" with established worldbuilding rarely ends well (just ask George Lucas with the Star Wars prequels). Better to start over when you begin a new "cinematic universe".

Since you love Miss Fortune so much, maybe you would like to try out The Ruined King. It's a LOL spin-off game. Very story-focused and is canon. Miss Fortune is one of the main characters and you can play as her. Btw, her look in that cinematic (& in the Ruined King) is one of her skins called Captain Fortune and it's canon. It's what she's supposed to look like now lore-wise.

In terms of timeline - I don't think what happens in these "Tales of Runeterra" shorts is meant to be canon, per se, but if you want to try to fit the Piltover one into the _Arcane_ timeline, it actually slots decently well into the time-skip before episode 4 (if you ignore Jinx's eye color, the origin of which may not have been established yet when these came out - maybe we can imagine that she took a micro-dose of Shimmer to help with her parkour). It doesn't really make sense to have it be after S1 of _Arcane_ entirely, since Heimerdinger appears to still be a councilor and doesn't know Jinx or Ekko, and since Ekko doesn't appear to have his more sophisticated tech yet. Also, to _ekko_ some of the other comments, you should definitely watch "Get Jinxed" and probably Ekko's "Seconds" teaser also.

Well currently there’s a lore disconnect between arcane and current lore. Arcane as of this moment is NOT canon. I’m waiting to see what they are planning to do. We also have a lot of ambiguity with a number of stories. For example, janna saved ekko one time when he was about to fall to his death after his gear broke. But when does this take place? Because the timelines aren’t specified we just don’t know. That being said it is generally understood that current lore places later than arcane.

It's hard to comment definitively on the common lore shared between the Power of Invention short and Arcane because they are treated by Riot as equally nebulously non canon. A good example is in this short it is ultimately Heimerdinger that invents a hoverboard with a Hextech "power cell" using the core of Ekkos design, but in Arcane Ekko is the one to invent one and without any known magical component. They don't really work in the same timeline, in the same way comic book reboots or some classical theater may re-use characters and stories but not exactly in the same way.

Hey! (I know I'm two weeks late but oh well lol) Tales of Runeterra and Arcane were actually made by different studios (Axis (I think?) and Fortiche respectively). They're definitely a very similar art style though, and you can see that the ToR team probably took a lot of inspiration from what the Arcane team was working on (the tales of runeterra shorts all came out first but Arcane was in production for, like, 6-8 years before its release).

To clarify the Demacia and Noxus cinematics a bit, Before Glory and After Victory represent the ideals of their respective nations more so than the reality. Demacia values honor, courage, loyalty, and selflessness... but also has a brutal, g*nocidal hatred of mages. Noxus is an egalitarian nation where anyone can take power if they have the strength... but as that ideal would suggest, Noxus is a brutal empire with a heavy social darwinist streak. Honestly they kinda both suck lol.

The unfortunate reality of the Shadow Isles, is that there are very rarely happy endings for those that venture there. The Isles are a damned place, where the dead rule and corruption has become the norm. The only mercy it offers is that it's denizens (with only a few exceptions) can't tread beyond the dark fog that hangs over them. Even then, during the Harrowing, that fogs flows out to spread over other parts of the world, extended their reach for a short time. The Shadow Isles is without exaggeration, the worst place in all of Runeterra.

I am pretty sure Noxus is where Mel and her mom were from. And Bridgewater is where those 2 traders came from that Vander threatened at the bar. Also you will often find characters that seem familiar if you play Overwatch as that game took a lot of inspiration from LOL characters.

Swain is The visionary Leader Silver Fox Daddy, And Le Blanc controls the Black Rose a secret society even Noxus doesn't know about. Oh And Le Blanc is Everyone and Everyone is Le BLanc. Together they make the Trifecta of Noxus.

@@georgieegames Fun facts the reason why it was called the League of Legends is because in the old canon in order to stop the mage wars from destroying the world three super powerful summoners established the League of Legends and created the fields of justice. Where all disputes would be solved. But eventually scrapped that as it limited the kind of characters and stories they wanted to tell. Also you should check out the older trailers even though they ain’t canon anymore. Also the Darius comic if you want the feels. And please whatever you do, don’t actually play League of Legends, you’ll get bullied by not just the enemies but also your own team. The community in that game is super toxic and unfriendly.

Arcane is not canon in the Runeterra-Universe, atleast not yet maybe they retcon things in the future. But so you dont get confused, try to look at Arcane as a slightly alternate universe until they maybe make it canon

heydooo, i just wanted to correct some of the confusing parts of the videos that you watched so, the Noxian are the people attacking the kings up in Frejord during the cinematic with the slave, and that's because they belive that only the strongest should rule and not some random king that can't even defend him self, but that belief leads the Noxians to attack pretty much anyone in Runterra (The LoL world) (Cause they are all usually lead by someone rich and not strong), so they end up going to war with Ionia too (the cinematic with the giant beautiful tree). btw there are multiple main games and smaller games based on Runterra, all made by Riot, but the main ones are, League of Legends (Top-Down MOBA game), Legends of Runeterra (Card Game (Stunning Artwork)) and Valorant (5v5 First-Person Shooter) and they are all free, I played all of them extensively for example, i'm lvl.152 in LoL but i would recommend playing Runterra and not the other two, cause they are very competitive games and that leads people to be more and more aggressive because they want to win so badly and that being a nice human being comes second, honestly Valorant is'nt even that toxic most times, so if you want to try it, you might even like it but, i assure you and if you ask anyone with 100+ lvl's in LoL that league is one of the most unbalanced and tilting games out there and people tend to be more toxic the more you play it, so, i only hope that if you try them, that you get lucky and maybe end up enjoing them, Have a good day and remember glhf (good luck have fun) :D

Just FYI, Arcane is based on League Lore, but it is not beholden to it. It may veer off from "canon" or it may change the current lore (they've redone things in the past). We will have to wait and see.

I'm pretty sure it's established in LoL lore, that Jinx uses her "comedy" to sort of cover her sadness and loneliness. Basically making so much noise and causing so much chaos to try to drown out the bad voices in her head. Characters like Fiddlesticks and Caitlyn (I think?) apparently had voicelines that spoke about her tragic past and how she was covering it up with laughter. That's what I've been told, anyway, as I know nothing about League of Legends beyond Arcane, and what KZbin commenters have explained.

Twisted Fate, the guy with the magic cards in the pirate one, is voiced by Matthew Mercer. Matthew Mercer also voices Cassidy in Overwatch. He's also the Dungeon Master for Critical Role.

Lol and the card game are canon... Arcane is not... Well... It is in it's own universe... But there are multiple universes in loL so Arcane is just one and the actural game is another. Other than that there are sci-fi universes, other fantasy universes, Our universe with music and bands and others. So Arcane is just one universe in Lol that representates the characters slightly as they would be in the lol universe.... Sorry my bad english but it's not my native tounge.

well many people actually complained about that they didnt use the original voice actors in arcane since they all grew up with the voices in game so for the people who play leauge of legends the characters are just not the same its the same if a voice actor changes in the middle of the series. At the other hand for people you never heard or played leauge can dive in the series without any discomfort since they dont know the original voices anyway

assuming this is lore accurate, the piltover one is most likely after Arcane ep. 3 and before ep. 4, from a couple details: Heimerdinger is wearing piltover clothing, in Arcane after the show ended he was wearing a hood and is with Ekko, so nothing piltover related. Also, Hextech is being researched, it was discovered in the first 3 episodes of Arcane and more fully developed after the time skip, so it makes perfect sense. Ekko and Jinx both looks fairly young, older than before the time skip ofc but definitely not older than after the skip; it could be the art style tho.

If you like red heads, besides Miss Fortune (aka Sarah Fortune) there’s also Katarina from Noxus. Confirmed lesbians in lore though are Caitlyn + Vi and Leona + Diana. Before I forget. You looked at the Legends of Runeterra original trailer however there’s one they pushed out later that completely removed all the speakers lines and instead put a song in it. It’s called “breathe” and it’s a much more engaging video than the original one

Worth adding: characters like Neeko and Nami extend the list for queer representation, and a few of them got axed out of canon or changed to less explicit representation like Twisted Fate, Graves, Taliyah, and Varus. All worth looking at, regardless.

Relevant yet again: Twisted Fate and Graves now have emotes together for the Pride event which reference Brokeback Mountain. Riot isn't quite so convinced to continue with that "less explicit representation" anymore, or at the very least are more willing to tell the stories the as they were intended in SOME cases. Still waiting on Varus and Taliyah though.

That's just the last one IMO. The 'Tales of Runeterra' are canon, but do not showcase any important story point or disrupt the story of any main story line. Their main purpose can be taken as showcasing regions as you say. The last one is clearly not canon, and none of the Wild Rift ones are canon.

If you're interested in the characters of Arcane, check out the Path of Champions play mode in the Legends of Runeterra card game. There are story mode adventures especially focusing on Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Jayce, and Ekko. It's due for a revamp at some point later this spring, so catch it soon! Also, Legends of Runeterra is in the same worlds as League of Legends, and a lot less stressful, highly recommended!

the confusion many people have with arcane and other league related lore stuff is a bit complicated, but the simple version is; arcane *isn't* canon. it's like a different universe heavily inspired by the source material. marvel is a great example! you have the MCU (cinematic universe) with its characters and story that are from the comics, but what happens in the MCU isn't always the exact same like the comics. they take the base story of the comics, twists it around a little to better fit in a cinematic purpose, and so you have two different universes that are based on the same thing. arcane is exactly like that, arcane is basically riot's MCU!
