I’m pretty sure it was established that Arcane takes place about 10 or so years before the LoL Cannon, so it makes sense that characters are a bit younger. I know that Darius in the lore was a part of a military campaign into the Freljord before Swain’s rise to power. This is probably helping set where we are in the current timeline. So shortly after Arcane, but before the Ionian invasion and formation of the Trifarix.

The current year in the lol universe is 997 AN (After Noxus), the invasion of Ionia started 984 AN, so arcane is set somewhere around 980 AN. The darius fight should be just before 990 AN since that is when he returns from the expedition to Freljord.

A Rioter already confirmed that this cinematic made with Fortiche is simply for the game's season start cinematic just like how they did every year. They said it just felt right to do it with Fortiche this time around since the new season is connected to the ending if Arcane. But it doesn't mean that this is the new show or that this is a sneak peak of what's to come.

Except it does. It's MEL coming back to Noxus, and two characters referring to her. They just say this because EVERYTHING in it isnt pertaining to the new season. For instance they dont want people being upset because Trundle isn't in the next season.

Which is really unfortunate and kind of a waste IMO. I get these things take time and a lot of money to put together, but Arcane is the reason League of Legends isn't dead and in the grave right now. That's where Riots focus and money should be. They already have established characters and lore that is really well written and interesting. But no, they're going to continue to push their outdated game from 2009. Without Arcane going and not another series on the horizon, people will eventually stop caring about it.

​@@paulrietveld9837 As much as I would want it to, League will never die, or atleast not anytime soon. The playerbase is stale and people who quit always come back. Arcane Season 2 was a huge flop financially, so I personally don't think that it's wise for them to pump their money into these massive projects (Even tho I love everything they produce, except the games themselves ofc). Riot spent around $250M for both seasons of Arcane and didn't profit a dime, quite the opposite actually. While Arcane definitely gained traction, only a small percentage of people actually played the game afterwards, and even less stayed. Riot stated that they will make other series about different regions and characters from League, so technically it is on the horizon. If you are interested in Arcane earnings: $3M from Tencent per episode, $3M from Netflix per episode, 18 Episodes total, $250M spent, 6x18: $108M (not counting merchandise and skins), $142M loss. So in terms of money, Arcane wasn't a success at all. sry for too much yapping

Mel scenes definitely after Arcane and both Mel and LeBlanc & Vladimir scenes probably teaser / sneak peek in next Arcane show. So it's now confirmed that it will be storyline about Mel fighting Black Rose and learning about Noxus + it's made by Fortiche again!!! (i'm glad, cos there were rumors Riot might be working with someone else for next series). So Fortiche already have some models and other assets for series. Also in first shot of Mel arriving in Noxus she's standing on same beach where Ambessa almost died in her cinematic (probably this scene shows Ambessa after escaping / fighting black rose). And i think Darius scene for sure is in past, cos he kinda looks younger and less buff for me than in other LOL related stuff, but maybe its just Fortiche rework of his appearance. Anyway its was amazing 10 /10 cinematic for Arcane fans, but i can see why LOL player might be disappointed.

I have a feeling that LeBlanc is going after what my guess is a Darkin dagger. Darkins are basically cosmic 'demons' who were cursed to turn into tools, items or weapons as a form of imprisonment. Possesing or using them would lead to possession or grant abilities in exchange of something, depending on what the Darkin is My theory is that dagger in particular might be Naafiri, who is a Darkin now in the form of a jackal who has her own pack and a LoL champion. As to why she chose that form, well it's bec the dagger was picked up by a pack of jackals, and she likes the idea of the hunt hence she possessed them. The song 'Bite Marks' also are hints towards her aside from Mel being 'The Wolf' the big Freljord troll was Trundle, The Troll King, also a LoL champion. His defeat at the hands of Darius could mean that Noxus might now have Freljordian trolls in the their ranks now

I don't play LOL, so I don't know most of its champions or how they become one, so I apologize if I said something stupid. Which lines up with Christian hinting that Arcane is earlier then some of the stories that we already know from League. It's young Darius, in his lore they mention that he went to the Freljord many times when he was young.. He is fighting the king of the Trolls, Trundle. Lorewise I think the present moment in the cinematic is before the Ionian war, since Swain is not the Grand General yet..

Firstly, great catch on Kindred and the half of the wolf. This is in reference to Ambessa blood, sweat and Tears because Mel has “The Mark of the chosen/The Mark of the Wolf.” Also the opening starts on the same exact beach that Ambessa survived on, you can look at it shot for shot, I think it is on Rockrund, a beach near noxus. Next part shows Katarina attending a ball dance. For some context, League released some Noxus skins for Ezreal, Renata Glasc (the most powerful chembaron from Zaun), Thresh, and some others. The reasoning is that Noxus apparently has invited some other strong suitors to a party, hoping to gain their pledge to The Black Rose. We don’t see them here (it is to be assumed they all might make teases or appearances in the next series), but Katarina snuck her way into the dance. Katarina is an assassin for Noxus, very skilled. Next we have Darius, a young darius going up against Trundle, a troll from the Frejlord. Now we technically don’t know if Noxus at this point is attempting to push in Frejlord or if actually the Trolls came too far down on purpose. The Trolls of Frejlord are close with Lissandra who can make ice-borne weapons and true ice weapons. To keep it short, Trundle’s club is not “True” ice, if it was, no mere mortal can actually touch the weapon, they literally die if they touch the weapon. But “Ice-borne” are still very strong weapons, which is why you see the weapon start to freezing Darius' hand and arm. The gate that Mel is walking up to is the opening Arch to Noxus and in the far distance is the home capital, Immortal Bastion. It actually is the largest standing building in all of Runeterra. Next as Katarina is attempting to kill her target, we see Elise pop out who is a spider. She also got invited to the Noxus ball, presumably protecting someone. If I am correct, Elise is more of a shadow Isle’s champ, but I guess she got invited lol. At the very end, we officially get to see Leblanc, it is confirmed this is her official VGU (Visual Game Update) and as of right now, lore accatue appearance. Along with Leblanc we get to see Vladamir, he actually used to be human MANY centuries ago, but he magically altered himself, absorbed power of darkin and has been using blood magic to keep himself young. Vlad and Leblanc established The Black Rose centuries ago and they work from the shadows. There is technically a third person, but we do not know who that is yet. We again here reference to “opportunity washed up on our shore = Mel” (again showing a wolf because she has the mark of the wolf from Kindred) The calamity they are talking about is the return of Mordekaiser, which the black rose is trying to prevent. To keep it short, basically all of Runeterra does not want the mofo returning and he is actually banished underneath the immortal bastion. As per usual, the black are “evil”, but in their evil doings, they are trying to prevent a worse event from happening as referenced right above. The very last thing people are Guessing it’s either a reference to Aatrox sword, or Naafiri dagger, both of which are Darkin weapons. Hopefully that breaks everything down for ya lol. On a personal note I am mixed about this trailer. On one hand, it stands amazingly on its own, and it’s basically teasing their next series. Please correct me if I am wrong because I have even been confused by it. Riot Games announced that this year, they would be resetting their seasons back to season 1 (thus why it’s called season 1 cinematic) and changing their format, since league came out in 2010, every year is considered 1 season = 1 year, thus they always do a top tier cinematic for launch. (this year would’ve been season 15 cinematic) . But this year, they are going to reset seasons, and “chapters” throughout the season, meaning they were upping their cinematics now to 3 in a year. My point being, I am slightly sad they didn’t do their other animation. I don’t know if Riot Games is just going to go full hard with Fortiche on everything moving forward, but compared to previous season trailers, just a slight let down. But if it wasn’t for comparison, it’s an amazing trailer and if we get two more this year, that would be awesome. They definitely let out a lot of champs people wanted such as Draven, Riven, Rell, Swain, Mordekaiser, Samira, Kled, and some others. I feel like for some very die hard fans of just league, it could start splitting up the player base/fan base, just slightly. I personally end up leaning towards loving this trailer though, I love the freaking music. I don’t think anybody expected to see Trundle or Frejlord and I think once we get into the Noxus show, they are definitely setting up all their puzzle pieces to then expand everywhere else, Shurima, Ionia, Frejlord, Demacia, etc. I also just wanted to point out if people haven’t thought about it, Katarina is a VERY skilled assassin, not only can elise transform into a spider whenever (Idk why she stops, but it’s a trailer) but to take on two arms, plus her spider arms, that takes some mad skill and training. Again I know it’s a trailer, but katarina is really bad ass, just like Darius, embodies much of Noxus willpower, strength, and skill.

Never said i'm a lore expert and there's plenty of people who know more than me. To answer your question though, I personally lean towards Mel has some Targon blood/Targon royalty blood(idk even know if Targon have royalty) but it would be the only thing that can explain why she's all powerful without any training, in my personal and honest opinion. I guess she also does have the mark of the chosen, but I do hope they give us more Mel background. I don't think it's pantheon though. ​@crisssstopher

it's amazing how far you've come to recognizing champions. I'm so proud of you! IMO, this cinematic wasn't that great. It felt incomplete. They probably will continue the rest of the scenes in the new show, so this is like a sneak preview, but past cinematics invoked overwelcoming emotions with their music and overall scenes. 4:16 .. so I just read from an insta page that post league of legends stuff sometimes even before the official league page, that: both Trundle and Darius are still younger in this cinematics, that explains why Trundle looks smaller and Darius a little skinny, younger and probably a little shorter than the current one + his armor is supposed to be almost indestructible.. so they probably gonna give it to him when he returns to Noxus... Even though I love Darius .. Trundle would've probably won.. but unfortunately the axe was near him😂😂

People were saying the same exact things about Vi and Jinx about why they look nothing like they do ingame, people said 'They're just younger, we'll probably get League Vi by the end of Arcane'. And turns out... nope, Vi just, canonically looks like a teenager right now. People kept using the excuse of 'This all takes place in the past before current timeline'. And then we find out that characters who are in League, die in Arcane, meaning no, Arcane is current timeline... because Riot gave them a free pass to rip the lore apart and make whatever they want into canon. And how Warwick looks literally nothing like Warwick, at least as far as his face goes. I don't think they're younger. I think this is just another case of the Arcane artists COMPLETELY reworking the appearance of characters because they decided they know better than the original artists. Admittedly, Darius just looks a bit thin, rather than looking absolutely nothing like Darius like what happened with Viktor. But no, I think this is... just the Darius we get.

Idk I guess its because I just kinda care more about Vladimir Swain Leblanc but this cinematic felt underwhelming. It's like they wanna keep LB and Swain's story to fully explore it in the next show but this then felt like just a teaser and wasn't as hype as other cinematics. Still here and The Call gave me goosebumps, this one not at all. The Kata vs Elise fight was insane tho, Fortiche keeps carrying Riot. I think one MAJOR issue whit all this stuff Riot is releasing is that some champs that SHOULD be in them do not appear at all or they are only teased a bit just because they do not want to update their models in game because it's not profitable. Like Orianna, why would they not show her full body? Cause they dont wanna update her, and same for most champs that were not shown in Arcane like Blitzcrank or many others. So it all just ends up feeling like missed opportunities.

Katerina going after the Black Rose would indicate this is after Swain takes over ... but Young Darius, and the implications with Vlad and LaBalanc seem to hint this is before the Invasion of Ionia
