which is why I think they emphasized Jinx's hard fall so much. she's been punched plenty before, but this hit took a lot out of her & now that Silco's out of the picture, she's found herself quite literally at the bottom of the food chain. I don't think that'll last long, b/c it's Jinx, but Silco did more protection for her than she realized. With all the trauma she went through, she was being far more coddled by being the adopted heir of an undercity crimelord.

I like how Jinx is just..calm. She used to be hysterical about what Powder had done in the past and who she had killed, but Jinx doesn’t even flinch or hesitate when Silco is mentioned. The man who was like her father and loved her for who she was - she didn’t care when he was brought up. She was just straight up calm, and when she said she killed him she was normal about it. I’m very excited to see the newer side of Jinx

Jinx is brilliant; in terms of raw intelligence, she’s likely the smartest person in Zaun apart from Singed. “Loneliness is often the byproduct of a gifted mind.” What sets her apart is how blindingly fast her mind works; it’s what makes her so terrifying in combat. She’s acutely aware that everyone thinks she’s unhinged. Watch her interaction with Chuck at the Last Drop (who is the same boy she threw mouser at in episode 1); she knows he’s petrified of her, and is deliberately using it to her advantage to get the information she wants. She does the same thing with Vi at the tea party. Both times, you can see her actually break character, but she recovers in a flash. Silco was a worthy father to her, just as Vander was to Vi; Jinx learned how to harness everything…even her trauma and her ghosts…to become strong. Jinx is Zaun manifested in human form (Silco wasn’t lying to Vi: “Jinx…she is more than I ever imagined”), and with Silco’s death at her hand, has now fully embraced both her strength, and what it has cost her to become so.

Good catch. I noticed two other parallels in this scene: 1) At 0:08, this is what Sevika did to Vi in Season 1 when they fought for the first time. (Well, more precisely, she choke-slammed Vi, while Jinx got clotheslined here, but it's close enough). Even the camerawork is identical. And both scenes demonstrate the power of Chemtech prosthetics. 2) At 0:41, this looks identical to when Silco would administer Shimmer to his eye. It looks like the writers really know what they're doing and will give us as much depth as Season 1. I can't wait to watch everything in full context to appreciate the subtext involved.

I know for season 1 a big chunk of the development time went into preproduction - but even with an established workflow the second season came super fast... or she just follows power & is really good at aligning herself with whoever she thinks will take control. idk if the methods mattered to her as much as the amount of control the person employing those methods has at any given moment. When silco asked sevika if she was tempted to betray him in season 1, she says: "not for a worm like him." implying that she definitely would (and has betrayed people like vander in the past) but only if they're powerful enough. in the fight of Finn v. Silco, obviously Silco wins, so Sevika didn't even consider it.

Everyone is talking about how Jinx is calm here, which is notable, but I find it more interesting that before Silco was name dropped she was very much NOT calm. What ever situation proceeded this scene had her rattled. I'm pleasently suprised that Jinx can still lose and that can leave her reeling. It's certainly much more interesting than if she was an untouchable mastermind/badass the entire season. That is part of what made Silco so interesting, that he wasn't in complete control always. Seems like once again every character will be having a bad time.

I'm actually blown away by how they somehow made the animation even more phenomenal than it was in the first season. The movement in this scene is incredibly fluid to the point of looking like real life. Not even like live action which can only capture so many frames per second, but actually like the movement is happening in real life right before me!!! This is why animators deserve to be paid so highly for their work!

Considering a whole season worth of character growth, her becoming calmer in life-or-death situations is badass. Yet, a minute ago she was anxious and crying. Then after getting jumped, she only became calm after they mentioned Silco's name. And the needle pointed at her eye reminded her doing that to soothe Silco's eye. It's the subtle things that make Arcane such a narrative masterpiece.

interesting that they revealed what jinx does right after Silco's death. Jinx is a fan favorite & obviously the highlight of a phenomenal show. But they gave her out first. Either that means its because they want to hype and they're using the best material, or because this clip worked best for a teaser, OR it's because caitlyn & vi have an even more interesting turn of events right after the bomb goes off. maybe Vi's been in the undercity long enough for her scent to awaken someone she used to know, someone with fangs and claws and manufactured powers with an insatiable urge for bloodlust. Just a thought. (side note: i noticed people in the comments saying something about a leak--I haven't seen any leaked content, the only thing I know is the official trailer & this sneak peek, but if my theory matches up with leaked content I would be THRILLED dude. I don't think so though b/c it'll probably take longer for Warwick to show up)

I guess her transformation into the untouchable badass we know from LoL lore (or mostly trailers for me) isn't complete yet, if street level goons are able to mess with her, and if she is gleefully laughing in their faces. (though that might come later, when she gets her payback)

I think her transformation completed on S1 ep 9. This was an ambush, a surprise attack. Jinx is still human even with shimmer in her veins, not much she could've done here, it's not like she can predict the future.
