Arcane Season 2: What Caused Rushed Season Two Ending

i think people liked arcane not for the lol regions or references, but for the stunning animation and characters, lol is doing marketing throught cinematic videos and music for ages and it was popular only for lol fans while everyone watched Arcane because you could’ve seen it without knowing lol lore. This season at the end really makes you remind who are the producers of the show. I loved Jinx not because she was the strongest lol player or because it was magic but for her deep story, i think the next seasons will not be bad but they will never have the same impact of s1. I think in s1 riot made the studio do whatever they wanted but after the success( and knowing that doing other show they will gain other characters to buy) they wanted to finish it fast. S2 is what happens when art meets greedines of companies and producers ( i don’t think the fault is only on the writers because no one who wroted s1 would made the last two episodes of s2)

Completely agree with you. So sad what the writters must have been forced to do. Imagine spending so much time and passion on a project, only for a rich guy in a suit to order you to wrap it up in a heartbeat. It hurts to think about what they could have made given more time.

Yeah I agree that you can't blame the writers, They were cooking so hard and I believe they were on a deadline. I believe that the scripts for each episode should've been finished long before animating, They should've had time to make sure it was done well and it was riot that was forcing them to rush it. Riot completely ruined it. From Christian "It would have been great to have more time to work on this second season, or extra time to add to the episodes, but we didn't have it." Also, The last episode was supposed to be 90 minutes but Riot said no because of budget and time

I feel a third season was honestly needed to pad out all the story. Also not a big fan of the shift from a class struggle to the end of the world; felt too...bland? Season 1 felt human by comparison and man I really wanted to see Jinx raise that flag like she does in the intro and bring about a revolution. The whole Viktor thing was covered too quickly, replace him with merely a threat of Noxian invasion and you have a more human feeling story like season 1 while bringing a reason for both sides to team up. Which again should have taken place in a third season

Victor's story was a huge disappointment this season. I agree that the show lost the human element. I stopped caring about the characters this season, which hurt it a lot.

Thank you. I've been saying that repeatedly. This show needed a third season to make a lot those hard-hitting scenes hit harder than it did. Those scenes were missing a lot of beats to set them up. The only reason those scenes worked as well as it did was because of the music, which was fantastic, but lazy writing. The season had many great moments but altogether, it was messy and rushed and it bugged tf out of me because the first season was just so good. Also, I'm familiar with the lore, and they've made some changes that I really don't appreciate

I'm honestly sad to see how many people are saying s2 is a masterpiece it shows me that most people don't truly realize what made s1 so incredible. People get so caught up in the hype moments and the spectacle of it all they don't realize how rushed and undercooked the storylines are. It was still good in a lot of ways, but the pacing and the storytelling was a complete mess. Ekko's story could have been an entire arc by itself easily and it would have been compelling to see. Mel, Viktor, Jayce all their stories Riot speed running through it's sad to see them drop the ball like that. But the fact that sooooo many people are raving about s2 and saying it's a masterpiece and some even saying it's better than s1 scares the shit out of me. Because that means this maybe the direction they take with the other regions going forward and that will literally turn this into the current state of MCU just trash.

Amen. Could not have said it better myself. I would pay good money to see a 3 episode/whole arc and better written version of Ekko and Powders story and Ekkos development and internal conflict from episode 7. That and so much more could have been so damn great but no. I went from having no concerns about season 2 and being hyped out of my mind because of season 1's quality, to now not even really wanting to see the other shows they will make :(

This is EXACTLY what I think happened. Every word you just said... I feel really sad that a great story was rushed like this. It feels so obvious that the show should have at least 3 seasons. It was potentially the best show ever, but now is just the shadow of what could've been... Sad.

I was so looking forward to seeing Caitlyn's dictator arc - only to her being back to her normal self like nothing happened the next episode. I feel like her arc was supposed to be a whole season long and they were allowed to only make 2 seasons so they just skipped 80% of it. Warwick is also one of my most favourite champions in LoL, and I'm really dissapointed how they just... killed him off in the end? He couldn't even reach his final form. He just died. I loved how they handled Warwick in act 2 but act 3... Also Vi just decides to bang with Caitlyn in the cell after Jinx implied she's going to off herself two seconds earlier. Heimerdinger... Yeah, they just forgot about heimerdinger. The black rose thing also appears out of total nowhere, just out of thin air. But the ending itself in its whole is just shit for me. Everyone just suddenly dies, Jinx has a "tragic death" to see she's fine at the very end, what in the world just happened to jayce and victor, etc etc They really, really needed 3 seasons. To me it also looks like they had more seasons planned but Riot Games didn't let them and capped it at season 2.

For me the first season is a perfect 10/10, the second season i dont think is bad, but is definetly not as good as the first season, i would give the second season a solid 7.5/10 , i agree that the pacing is not good in this season, and that the characters motivation change without much context, but besides that i think what all characters do in this season match with their personalities and personal struggles, at least for me and my girlfriend (we watched all the season 2 together) we could understand why the things happening on each episode happend because we were able to connect the docs by owrselfs, im sure not all people can do that or want to do that,im sure it would be much better for the season if things were more flesh out more but at least for me made some sense how the season unfold things at the end . There are some things bad with this season yes, but is not like an trainwreck like the end of other shows like game of thrones for example.

I felt that if they had only two seasons planned they should have cut a lot of things such as Ambessa's whole character and the Noxians interfering with Piltover's politics(Aside from Mel) and Mel should have stayed a "normal" counsel member. Warwick should have had a different(and proper) send off and Isha definitely should have died in a different way that would actually make a bit of sense.

I wish it wasn't so rushed, not introducing leblanc with blackrose, teasing a lot with the ravens about swain. The story not being canon to what said before because jinx was supposed to just become crazier and crazier but somehow she changed so much. I like the change but it happened too fast as said. Overall loving arcane but bit disappointed that it was so rushed. If this was just a scratch in their economy they should've provided the fans the fanservice they needed, both new players and old veterans

I can see Riot doing 2 more seasons in a different series and a seperate movie. The time spent in production can take 3 years. Expect another series in 3 years time.

THIS SEASON WAS EVERYWHERE! lol And they acted like they didn't know where to go with it or what to do with it. That made the show total sh*t. Also, the material did come from the game, after all. And because some of the players who have been playing the game from the beginning have gotten upset or disappointed, and have dared to express it, there is this really weird disrespect, or even hatred, coming from other people who are acting as if they have no right to? The player outrage is simply because RIot comes in and tries to force the players to accept changes made to the lore of champions, that Riot had already changed, by the way, saying that Arcane is cannon, while then turning around and changing THAT cannon on top of the changes that they had ALREADY made in the lore, FOR ARCANE, is just utter ridiculousness. I will tell you this, for me personally, and I dont give a crap about what anyone else has to say, and therefore will not reply, but because of that, Arcane is not cannon then, as far as I am concerned, Riot. As it was made quite clear, despite what Riot had originally told all of their playerbase that the show was mainly for their players and the fans of their game(s), that this show was instead clealy made as a show that was just made for people who do not play their game(s), and who do not give two sh*ts about their game(s) or their players. And apparently, that's who the show is actually really for. And that is fine. I couldn't care less. It was the part where Riot tried to force this as cannon to all of their loyal longtime players, when this show honestly should be and just exist as its own separate thing or entity. That's the main thing here. That's what really matters to the players. But the show, even taken by itself, in all honesty, was very rushed, even felt very cringe and "try hard-y" at times, and has quite a few gaping holes that, for some reason, the Arcane viewers seem to be unwilling to address. So shills abound. Perhaps Riot just cannot afford honest bad reviews, so they paid for good ones. lol I don't know, nor do I really care at this point. It was pretty lame in my opinion, which I do have a right to have my opinion. And it was definitely NOT at all comparable or as passionate, moving, and detailed as Season 1 Arcane was so clearly lovingly made. It felt extremely overhauled, overstretched, and rushed. As this is my opinion, I won't be changing it, therefore will not respond either. So have fun. 😂 Side note: The hilarity and the audacity of Riot Games to still want players to spend a "million dollars" (sarcasm) on some "gatcha" supposed "special" Jinx skin for this mess that they did?! I will be laughing for weeks!! 😂🤣

The first season was easily a 10/10. But the pacing in season 2 was atrocious. I was more confused from episode to episode and could really only concentrate on Jinx and Vi. But what have they done there?! For 18 episodes they make us suffer and pine and hope and then?!!!! God knows I'm not an idiot who only lives in series and social media, but this really hit me hard. I watched the last episode two days ago at night and have been in a deep hole ever since. This was so so so so so well written in parts and you grew to love the two sisters. The ending was a really bad punch in the gut. And I don't even care if Jinx is still alive. SHE'S GONE. And that seems incredibly contrived, just to end the season prematurely.

I think you are mostly right. But aside from money, there might be other reasons. It is very common for TV series, but also for movies, to degrade with each new season (or prequels and sequels in the case of movies). And I think Riot and Fortiche wanted to avoid this. simply knowing when to go off the scene instead of destroying what they've created in seek of more money. I would argue that the second Season already was worse than Season one by large (but to be fair, still way better than most other stuff on TV or even in cinemas). And this is not only because of 'rushing' things. I have a feeling that writing didn't receive as much love as it did in Season 1. Vander's resurrection, teenage-style 'what if' episode, and the discontinuity between Jinx at the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2. I have the impression there was no idea what to do with Jinx's character after Powder's 'death'. All that stuff. Don't take me wrong - as I wrote earlier, Season 2 was still better than most of the stuff TV and Cinema offered through the last decade perhaps (there were some noble exceptions). I enjoyed it in general. But there was Season 1 before that was way better. Now imagine how worse things could go with next seasons? So I think this was a good decision to stop after Season 2, regardless of the money.

It was rushed because they have other shows to publish in the future. If they keep going with arcane, other regions wont get a chance. In bridging the rift, one of the executives said that they are willing to tell stories like arcane for the next 30 years. If they keep going with arcane, their viewers will grow old and might aswell die before other shows come out. If anything, arcane might be the worse one out of the other shows they will publish in the future as they will learn from their mistakes.

FR I love caitvi but that scene was so forced and unnecessary. Piltover was about to be raided by ambessa and Victor who is a literal god, vi saw jinx at her lowest even considering killing herself. And vi completely forgets all that in a span of minutes/hours? It's extremely out of character for both Cait and vi to just suddenly feel horny in a prison cell.

I disagree. I don't think we gain much from significantly slower pacing. Pretty much everything makes sense if you make the effort to keep up. Fast pacing can turn into fluff very easily.
