Pretty much my dream bike, don't even need the ebike aspect. The performance and design amazes me everytime

I have it on my dream list of bikes. It covers so many use cases. The question is which groupset to put on it though. I wonder if Di2 would work :D

Yea, I learned something today - I thought Moulton bikes were folding - didn't know they just split. My day is complete now that I have learned one item.

Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better.

Education of the drivers is the key, Leicester has just taken down all of the cycle bollards to separate the road into to cycle lanes, they were too narrow and the bollards were at handlebar height. They weren’t used and became full of debris from the road. Therefore unsafe. Educating the drivers would mean that they take care and two can use the road at the same time. The latest edition of Highway Code in uk should help this.

I love my Moulton. I have the tsr 2. Bought it in 2017. I rebuilt it ground up. It has just a few original parts. It's the only tsr 2 I've seen in midnight blue. I probably will never part with it.

What a very cool and uniquely designed bike! Thank you for this video -- I had never heard of the Moulton bike before and find it rather intriguing, particularly with the ARCC conversion kit. Also, Nathan is such a good sport! :-)

Thank you. Video was well worth waiting for. I love my Brompton (non electric) but I've always been intrigued by the Moulton. I don't need the fold on my commute, but it is handy to squeeze in the car for holidays. I'm certain I could squeeze the two halves of a Moulton in alongside all the stuff that having a wife and kids dictates. Having the help of an electric motor would be a bonus too. 😊

The Moulton looks like a sweet bike. The suspension is quite interesting. Two of my youtube cyclists posted this morning - it must be telling me I need a ride before winter starts.

I’m i correct the Moulton Arc system uses Bosh drill batteries . There’s a connection between Alex Moulton and the Avon tyre company I believe he also designed the suspension system as fitted to Mini, 1100,1300, Maxi from the early 60s and 70s and introduced his Moulton suspension small wheel bike also in the 1960s.
@OneLessCar3 жыл бұрын
He did design the mini suspension just before going on to make his first bike.... I had to cut that from the video though as it was too long. Perhpas I can get Moulton to loan me a bike for another video. They are just down the road from me it turns out! :)

Thank you for this😊. I’ve had a Moulton for a few years, and was thinking of getting an e-bike this year, but I’m tempted by this conversion. Not many reviews, so yours was welcome. I agree Moulton and Brompton are very different. I borrowed a friend’s Brompton for a few weeks before choosing the Moulton - on the Brompton I could feel every bit of gravel through my rather arthritic hands; I hated it. Nothing compares for commuting convenience, and I’m sure I could have different grips and tyres to soften it, but I don’t need the advantages of a Brompton. I enjoy the Moulton so much 👍😀. Thanks for a great review.

The use cases are quite different for the 2, most don't realize it they just see two bikes with small wheels. Glad you got the right bike for your needs, it's a lovely ride and I hope to own one one day!

I do love my Brompton and it’s perfect for carrying up the stairs to my third floor flat. But a Moulton is the dream... I think it’ll fit up the stairs without splitting the frame! 🤞 Great review, thanks.
@OneLessCar3 жыл бұрын
I agree the smaller wheels would make manouvering it up stairs easier than a normal bike and not much harder than a Brompton.
@velokernow36963 жыл бұрын
I find it easy to carry as the bottom tube is good to hold and the top tube fits under the arm. The small wheels make it shorter, it's well balanced. A Brompton and Moulton don't really compare in the ride sense.

I know your review was for the electric versions of both bikes, but in terms of comfort which bike would you choose for a touring trip? I know Brompton Traveller on youtube has done a great job of showing touring on a Brompton, but baggages issues aside would the Moulton be a better choice for long days in the saddle?
@OneLessCar2 жыл бұрын
If I had to choose just on comfort it would be the Moulton for sure.

How easy is this to recharge off grid !??? Is the front wheel removeable roadside ???? ✍️🌈👍
@MaShcode3 жыл бұрын
The Moulton front cantilever suspension won’t survive a lot of technical off-roading. Probably best for road/gravel? Still not sold on battery assist. Unless one distance commutes every day the extra weight and investment just doesn’t add up. Sorry.
@OneLessCar3 жыл бұрын
E-bikes aren't for everyone, or every ride, but they are great fun!
@MaShcode3 жыл бұрын
@@OneLessCar I agree, however the fun is fast becoming a nuisance in these parts. I advocate for transportation alternatives but urban planners often don’t well articulate the differences in bikes and take the easy way out by packing everyone together into the existing bike corridors. It’ll get sorted eventually I hope.

I crossed Iceland on a Moulton. And lots of other places of course. It's quite good off-road but as you point out, best for gravel tracks and roads.

I have a general question about the brompton. At 6'4" do you think I would manage an upright riding postion?
@OneLessCar3 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not, you'd want the H style handlbars for the more upright position and you'll also need the telescopic seatpost.
@tortinwall3 жыл бұрын
I’m the same height. I have the telescopic seat post, which is a must, but I have only the M bars. They’re fine, but I do prefer a more forward position.

A converted bike isn't a pedelec legally, doesn't need to be as complicated,
@OneLessCar Жыл бұрын
It is very simple. A pedelec means it must be pedalled to go and not have a throttle. Conversations can also be pedelec en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedelec
@RalphHancockАй бұрын
I've been riding Moultons for literally 60 years. Lovely bikes, uniquely comfortable so that anything else seems crude. But I wouldn't dream of encumbering my beautiful AM22 with a lot of heavy electrics. I am an old purist, I suppose, but while I can still pedal I will. How very silly of ARCC to put the launch control on the left pedal. The vast majority of cyclists push off with their right foot. So why?
@rogerhudson28142 жыл бұрын
A conversion of an existing bike like a Moulton APB doesn't need all the pedelec complexity (which bogs down the Brompton Electric), look at the old Sparticle system. Pedelec was an EU scam.
@jjdtierney9 ай бұрын
Why the batteries? The Moulton should be ridden analogue. Instead of "conserving battery" why not use your own battery? Thats a sporty bike so why add battery weight only to be frugal with it? I ride 20" Xootr Swift in a mountaneous environment and I manage just fine without any assist. Don't get me wrong - e-bikes have their place. But batteries add weight and dumb things down. Why have a high performance bike then add a couple kilos of motor and battery then not use it?
@davidparry19829 ай бұрын
I’ve ridden vintage and modern Moultons as my only choice of bike unassisted for years and love them all, however you ride the bike you like, so if this works and helps some folk access Moulton magic or to your point re e-bikes in general, any bike for that matter, I think it’s great. The important thing is to get on the bike and ride 😊
