The TIG welder even though it's is a DC only machine, having the HF start is HUGE compared to a lift arc style start up like my Lincoln. Eventually I would like to get an AC/DC machine so I can tackle aluminum. Also the plasma cutter for the price is a great deal in my opinion. This was the video that convinced me to try Arccaptain. I did not have the money for the AC/DC version but the DC version, yes. What can I say. Sometimes you get things right. Its a great little welder. Simple to use. I have an expensive Everlast Welder I purchased some time ago and am trying to sell it. I like the Arccaptain better. Where this would shine say if you do furniture like a coffee table or chair or night table. You do not need to save up for a Miller Dynasty 280 or even....gulp, an Everlast welder. Buy this. Use it. And if you like what it does then go AC/DC later on. Can't go wrong here. I should also add that I did purchase the new foot pedal separately off Amazon. For some applications I do not mind the trigger switch but wanted the flexibility of the pedal. I also noticed the Euro and Australian crowd have a button torch but I cannot locate one here in the North America or British Amazon sites.

Awesome! Glad it was helpful. This is a solid budget TIG welder. I was very pleased with the performance while filming this review, which was the first time I ever used it. Really the only negative thing about this welder was it was wired for 110v vs. 220v which I think they fixed that after this video 🤷‍♂️ regardless it still works great. Can confirm, just bought this machine and mine came wired 220 with a 220 to 110 downstep adapter. They listened. Also, you're way too hard on yourself man, those were some pretty f%@ing good beads for a "newbie" at TIG. Learn to use cooler bars. See how far out the affected heat area was from your beads? The discoloration circle around the weld. Find yourself some scrap copper and clamp a strip inside the tube under the weld area. Stainless concentrates heat, copper is very thermally conducive and will draw and disperse that heat away from the area and reduce the carbon evaporation potential in the stainless you're welding. Basically, clamp a heat sink of copper against your stainless and you can weld longer beads without "burning" it.

i bought the mig 200 multi purpose welder directly from arc captain. it cost about $354. it cannot use a foot pedal but does 6 functions. tig gun is not included. the welder is wired for 220v and has an adapter cable to allow 110v. at 110v it does not reach full stated power but i expected that. good price and great little welder.

Welding in general is a great stress reliever for me. I really enjoy being under the welding hood. When the helmet drops everything around me tends to disappear and then my only focus is trying to lay down a good weld. TIG welding has been a lot of fun to learn and practice. One day I will implement it into my projects..😬🤙

diameter is fine for the length. if the length was longer then diameter should be thicker but these are just fine for leads

Appreciate the watch/comment. I was just welding 1/8" mild steel probably A36. As far as the pedal I'm sorry to say I still haven't got to use the foot control but I need to make time to try it. I will try to set some time aside to use the foot control along with welding stainless exhaust pipe, so keep watch (maybe within 2 weeks +/-) 👍

I've never tig weld, I've done a little stick welding, but not enough to actually say I know how to weld. I want to get a tig welder for my small farm and to work on my first car build with my 9 year old son. Would you recommend this welder for beginners that's never weld before

So I myself have been welding for years and have tig welded way way long ago but never stuck with it because I wasn't very good. Fast forward to today, I started to tig weld again using my Lincoln 210MP (lift arc style) and while it works the lift arc tig can sometimes be extremely frustrating to get a clean startup (atleast for me because I am learning), and the kit to make my 210mp a TIG welder was more money then the ArcCaptain Tig welder. Now with all that said even with ArcCaptain giving me this welder the reactions you see in the video are 100% real. After using this welder with a HF(high frequency start) there is no going back in my opinion. So to answer your question directly, YES I do think this is a really good option for a TIG welder ESPECIALLY if you want to learn to TIG weld more specifically because of the price point of this welder. I believe its the cheapest HF start machine that also allows foot pedal control (Must have with TIG), this way you are not investing a ton of money to learn. Once you learn how to TIG weld you can always upgrade the equipment into an AC/DC machine which will allow you to weld aluminum. You will need to invest in a 100% Argon tank and regulator as well in order to weld so keep that in mind also, I think you can be tig welding for under $500-$600 bucks (usd) by time you get all the components. (Welder, foot pedal, argon tank, regulator, welding helmet, a few consumables)... Hopefully this long winded reply helps🤔😬 good luck and thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I haven't. I generally just mig or tig weld and very very rarely stick weld (basically never😂) but I am sure it works as advertised. I have reviewed a bunch of budget welders over the last year and all of them perform better then I expected because of how cheap you can buy them.... This TIG200 is awesome and love the HF TIG welding process and would feel confident in saying the stick welding process wouldn't disappoint. For a couple hundred bucks I don't think you could go wrong. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I'm sure it works as it should (lift arc start). I think the reason you don't see many videos if any for it is because I think most of the people who are buying these budget multi process welders are mainly using them for either stick or mig welding (two most popular) with having the option of tig... If you are specifically looking to tig weld HF(high frequency) start is the only way to go (in my opinion). I was learning lift arc tig using my Lincoln 210mp then used the ArcCaptain Tig200 HF start and was like yeah I am never going back to lift arc. And I think the ArcCaptain TIG200 can be bought for less then 300 bucks, which makes it a great budget Dc tig machine to learn the process.

This is only a DC rated TIG machine. Hopefully ArcCaptain will hook me up with their AC/DC TIG welder, so I can try AC TIG welding aluminum.

Yes. I would not recommend lift tig machines, especially with the low cost of the DC only high frequency machines. Once you tig with a HF start machine there's no going back.

When you grind a tungeston don't grind around the circumfrence of the tungeston always grind the length of the tungeston. Arc flows off straight lines better than over ridges. Arc is more controlable off straight lines and your tungeston lasts longer

Whats the difference between tig 2t and tig 4t?

It has to do with the switch(trigger). 2T is just your normal on/off switch, press and hold down while welding release trigger to stop welding. The 4T option is a little different. When on the 4T option, you press and release (quickly) the switch/trigger, to start welding continue running your weld (not holding the switch/trigger), then to stop the welding process press and release the switch/ trigger again to stop it. Hopefully I didn't confuse you... I generally just always use the 2T option...

Should of got the AC/DC Pulse Tig machine 5 year warrant for a 800$ machine it beats Lincoln Miller Hobart Any DAY of the Year Lincoln Miller Hobart Overprice the machines way to high for what it can do and the duty cycle they have
