Arch Tempered Nergigante Casual SnS Solo Run Analysis (MHW)

So this is a relatively casual Arch Tempered Nergigante Run with SnS. Tuna did a play by play voice over of his thought process and decision making for the At Nerg Run.
We decided to not go with an insanely fast or clean speedrun because it's frankly hard for a lot of normal hunters to learn too much from an insanely clean and optimal run. We thought a more casual example would give you a better idea of what a run focusing on clearing vs shaving time would look like.

I really enjoy these. It's fun to watch runs of stuff that isn't a speed run. I'm typically good enough to run speed runner builds and not die (though I prefer to drop PP if I can), but I don't typically have the movesets of the monsters mastered to the level that lets me actually do real speed runs, so seeing runs like this is cool because it's about the level of hunt that's realistic for me but is still entertaining to watch.

Its a really enjoyable way of playing really, specially if you get a fast run anyway. maximizing damage with a decent pace without wanting to split your skull open because you didnt get that perfect rng on the monster moveset or you messed up some step....

it takes a while even when doing the "Greeting The Gluttons" Quest, i was doing a cluster build to do it as quick as possible, fastest i ever did the quest was 52 seconds

Pet your pig at the end of every quest. Run up and eat look down to see your pig is coming up the stair. Go select a quest from the handler. While waiting for the quest to load your pig should be up the stairs next to you, pick him up put him next to the handler if controller vibrates wait for pig to give you a voucher.

how are you breaking parts immediately? I’ll have part breaker 3 chopping with sns, greatsword, charge blade and nothing breaks as near immediate compared to this video. Again, im doing this in 2024 and every video in the past appears to be dead brain easier. 2024, the monsters have been sped up double, AT nergigante will spam 3 dive bombs consecutively.

You said you prepped the mount so you could get it in the next area. Is it a fixed number of aerial attacks until you mount or is it based on the damage those aerial attacks do?

Think of it as an abnormal status. You do mounting damage that adds up to an increasing cap. Once you exceed the cap you mount, and the next one will need more mounting damage to exceed the next cap. Let's say SNS does 30 mounting damage, and you need 100 base to mount, you'll need to do four aerial hits in order to mount. The next will need 200, etc.

I'm kinda of surprised to see someone use the vitality mantle. Mostly you see people only use the temporal mantle and then maybe either Rocksteady or Evasion, simply because vitality only can tank maybe one or two hits before breaking.

I usually do temporal, and vitality, then change to assasins creed and evade mantle.

I am not confident with the SNS, especially the jump&shield(or sword) attack, which is the best attack of the weapon. Not easy to know where backward direction is from your caractere when you land from the 1st jump, to go on and spam this attack. But very nice run, looks like you hunt 10 AT nergi for breakfast.

I enjoy what you guys do but at some point can you guys do some builds that focus on well rounded builds? Everything i see is always Drachen this and Drachen that. And that was a great SnS run.

drachen is always the meta for almost any dps melee weapon, drachen piece are just too good

Experiment and make some different builds yourself. You don't need to use drachen if you don't want to.

LunaRuin(nergi) with HR is far better than LunaStyx(xeno). Hunger skill is too weak and inconsistant to sustain HP not only that higher raw and neutral affinity is better than less raw with somewhat positive affinity. Not only that Razer sharp is redundant when you have master's touch, you might as well choose Luna Blaze(bazel) over Styx given it has better raw(?) and affinity with extra survivalbility from 1 shot moves. Keep in mind Luna Ruin is very weak in sword combo but strong in shield slam jam. If you want slashing SnS I'd go witcher for it's jack of all stats.

Jinx and tuna you now have a new mmo game to play. I’m pretty sure u already heard of dauntless. I would recommend playing it because it’s cross play so you can play with ur subs and you can have more videos to upload. It might not sound fun grinding hard again to make optimal builds and stuff but I’ve been playing mhw for a while now and I do enjoy dauntless still. Well, you theoretically could, but that'd be pretty fucking expensive. I mean, how many bombs would you need for that kind of run? After all, AT Nergi is one of the tankiest monsters in the game and each MBB does around 200 damage or so...

To this day i think i have only ever dodged 2 roars. I feel like it has like 2 or 3 frames to get it right, and its not worth it to me. I like not wasting time during roars. I just run earplugs. My average time is around 20 mins solo. Though i never play for damage.
