Amazing. Most guides don't focus on how to dodge attacks in as much detail as this, and dodging is basically 90% of how to actually win the fight. This dude is making the best monster fighting tutorials on youtube.

This was useful. As an sns user, the pepega slam is really the only attack that's an issue, but at times it can be a dealbreaker on its own. I've had him spam it up to six times in a row without pausing, making it completely impossible to approach him while doing it.
@viethoang9075 жыл бұрын
Great video ! I'd add that for the Standing Slam and Flying Slam, Nerg can grow spikes during the animation, and as soon as it starts to grow, there will be exploding spikes. It's quite rare, but it does happen, so keep that in mind next time you get hit for seemingly no reason.

Thank you very much! This should help in my quest to finally beat AT Nergi. I've been struggling a bit with Greatsword, as he's really tricky, but knowing some of the positioning and timing to dodge his attacks is definitely going to help. I'm a bit cheap and tend to run with Earplugs/Tremor Resistance though, so I have to dodge/block/survive a little longer for the convenience of being able to ignore those. ;p

I think overcommitting and impatience in general were my biggest problems in this game. Switch Axe was my main and in every hunt I was eager to build the charge and make it explode in the monster's face without analysing any of its attacks and just getting stomped. Sure I learned some monster's patterns here and there but it was completely superficial (I never used the Defender armor and weapons btw). Once I learned to look at the monster and analyze its attacks and experiment what might or might not work etc, my skill progression went from 2/10 to 6/10 in an instant. I thought I was so good that I literally quit, which was really shameless considering I very rarely hunted Tempered monster and I didn't even know Arch-Tempered monster existed. I was just satisfied. Also, it happened 300 hours in after I beat Velkhana so it took me a very long time to understand the essence of the hunt. I recently created a new character in order to 100% base Monster Hunter World (and Iceborne later but I'm at that point yet) and AT Nergigante was especially annoying. The amount of monster knowledge and restraint from overcommitting was especially painful compared to all the other Arch-Tempered monsters.

@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
Perfectly fine man, its a very hard move to dodge
@shangguanlan58185 жыл бұрын
Monster Hunter World PH Elites Mostly it will have fifty-fifty chance to dodge it. The damage zone is not really clear, and sometimes it can give me a one hit kill. This new move is really hard to predict, like you mentioned in the video is probably will come out with some move, and this new move is could be repeat several times and finally you will be killed. I still confused about the real damage zone about this new move, although it have a small hitbox, and sometimes AT Nergi will be knocked down from sky when it used this new move and hit on my wyvern blast.
@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
@@shangguanlan5818 the idea is to really just roll away from the claw. If there are spike growing, it will also have a mini spike explosion which is usually what kills most. If you successfully dodge the slam but you still end up close, you may get one-shot by the spike explosion immediately after
@shangguanlan58185 жыл бұрын
Monster Hunter World PH Elites Yep, if there has spike on nergi claw the new move will be more lethally than wihout spikes. And actually the nergi will use the right claw to finish this new move, so it probably will be possible to aviod and dodge it if we can keep positioning in the side of nergi left claw.

how can u play safe against a monster where the longer the fight goes, the harder he becomes
@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. Playing "Safe" does not have to mean playing "Slow". In the video link below, I played it Safe but I was still able to get sub 10 mins with Hunting Horn. Playing safe is making sure you don't take unnecessary risks and to note over-commit with attacks. You will only attack during moves that you are 100% sure you'll still be able to dodge the Dive Slam if he does it quickly. Some of these moves are the Claw Swipes, the Flying Charged Slam, the Claw Scrape, and even the Dive Slam/Pepega Slam itself. Moves that are dangerous to follow-up with are the Quick Claw Slam, the Head Slam, and the Slide Charge. You'll need to learn by experience which moves are safe to attack on and which ones are not. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZS4p36Ia9d2mKM

Thank you for the feedback. Which weapon are you using? Some weapons will have more trouble dealing with a lot of Nergigante's moves like Switch Axe sword mode. It works for me and quite a lot of people on the comments section have mentioned this guide helped them solo AT Nergigante.

not sure why ppl are so triggered by the pepega slam, after some practice you can dodge it even with your back on him since it strikes always the same zone of your hitbox everytime. Personally I find the running charge much more annoying
@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
I would imagine its because many are always caught in the middle of overcomitting to attacks. That kills more than missing the dodge, in my opinion
@neobahumuth65 жыл бұрын
@@MonsterHunterPH I think that also ppl don't understand what it means to attack during an animation lock, because most ppl told me that they waited Nergi to have stopped moving to attack and then getting hit
@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
@@neobahumuth6 Yes, that is a very common mistake most players, old and new, make. Not many people know how to exploit an animation lock for fear that they may still be "hit" during the monster's recovery frames.
@nuke20995 жыл бұрын
@@MonsterHunterPH It's because it isn't a balanced move. It's fast and it's high power. That's a big no no for balance. Also it can chain it from any move including itself and it can spam it multiple times. 6+ is the max I have seen.
@MonsterHunterPH5 жыл бұрын
@@nuke2099 it is a strong move, I agree but I would not go so far as to call it unbalanced or unfair. I get hit by that move 1 time out of 10 (yes even if he spams it) when I don't have mantles on because I know when to expect it. I can expect it by simply basing on the current move that he did, whether it has a fast recovery or not. In all honesty, when I attempted to do sub 10, I died more to his running charge and the quick claw slam than I did with the Pepega Slam (if ever, actually).
