Good luck with the renovations. I sailed on her from La Corunna to the Azores in about 2000.

Hiya Mary, would love to find out some of her history? Do you have any photos?

@@archangel465 Sadly I don’t have any pictures. As I said, I joined the boat as crew in La Corunna the beginning of August 2001. I had recently got my RYA ocean yacht master qualification but was rather frustrated as I was teaching in a private school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where big boat sailing at the time was unheard of. To gain more offshore experience, during my summer holiday, I agreed to help the owner, who was on route from the boats home on a mooring in Dittisham on the R Dart, to the Azores. He had been sailing her single handed which must have been somewhat demanding. The boat sailed well off the wind and took the waves well, but her windward capability was a bit limited and I do remember motor sailing to get her to point higher. Talking engine, it mysteriously self-started … the solenoid must have shorted… quite a shock though. The domed lookout at the rear was great for watchkeeping. In Horta, the owner touched up the harbour painting of Archangel which he’d made at a previous time. If you ever get there you could look through all the boat art and find it. He also, whilst we were at anchor, mopped the sides of the boat with Muriatic acid to remove the rust streaking…. She then looked absolutely glorious and pearly white sitting there. Sadly my father died whilst I was in Horta and I had to fly back to the U.K. for the funeral. With more crew, Archangel got back to Dittisham late into September 2001, having had to detour to Ireland to escape a hurricane. I’m so sorry I don’t have more details or any pictures. I came across your post and was delighted that you are going to bring her back to life. Such a spacious and sold boat and made for ocean passages.

I build a ferro 65’ schooner at Fambridge, Essex, uk in 1975. I worked with other builders in the Essex/ London area and helped plaster about 12 over several years. This double ender may have been build in London at St Katherine dock. I helped plaster her. What’s the history on this hull ?
