The majority of Luthor Harkon lore was established in the 6th edition, so it preceeded Pirates of the Caribbean by at least 3 years. As usual, if anyone has the right to sue it's GW.

People are just so used to GW st--borrowing heavily from other sources that it's natural for Cody to make that assumption. So I went back to 4th edition, it mentions him but just a small blurb about Norse from Skeggi finding him and then him forming the Vampire Coast in the Undead. A Drako Harkon is mentioned in 2001 Vampire Counts 6th edition but the full "lore" I'm seeing IS from that White Dwarf in 2005. Open to being disproven.

Sailing is what a crew is for. I mean before taking up sailing, Edward Teach was thought to have been a merchant from a wealthy family.

@@dominicmanester8125 Also there's the fact a lot of inexperienced people became the most famous pirates like Bucaneers who were just simple snack sellers (they sold things like rats grilled on a buca to hungry merchants) before deciding that straight up robbing their customers was more profitable. Most pirates started out as outcasts, vagabonds or merchants before choosing the life at sea and even women were welcome as part of the crew or even captains on equal terms. The history of pirates is a really interesting one

​@@dominicmanester8125 There's a vast difference between knowing the logistics of a harbor and having the nautical skill to chart a course on the open sea and away from the sinky kind of storm, reefs, the thousands of murderous sea monsters in Warhammer II, Navy Patrols, procurement and securing of supplies, knowing the state of your vessel and reading the signs of deteriorating wood, rigging, not even mentioning that he also has manage a city and an armada which includes lengthy communication lines and a whole different kind of logistical knowledge. Y'all are severely underestimating how much skill it takes to sail a ship. Not to mention he has to micromanage most of these tasks because most of his crew consists of brain-dead fish fodder. He's nowhere near qualified not to mention the biggest flaw, he's a ducking vampire in need of a constant supply of fresh blood, which newsflash, is not plentiful on the high seas. Basically there's a very good reason this is a niche character in a niche publication of a niche magazine.

Well he is Manaan, God of the Sea. Which makes Aranessa a very strange member of a VAMPIRE faction... being a demi-goddess.

I really like both... I really dont like the war missions of Noctilus but other than that I think the Vampire Coast togheter with Tomb Kings are some of the best content in the game. Then again I really enjoy the undead... its just so rare having necromancy actually be necromancy in games... summoning armies of skeletons, zombies and such. In most games its just oh you get 2 skeletons or a flesh golem.

Funnily enough my Harkon campaign had me raid all of the Nehekharan coast in a niave attempt to keep Arkhan the Black alive before bee lining to the great pyramid for 8ts bonuses. There Luther harken stayed for eternity as endless high elf armies kept trying to assault it or the Vampire Coast defended by the only other army I could afford.... The biggest problem with Vampire Coast is they instinctively feel like you should play like a hoard faction on the seas but end up defending whatever territory you own on land.
