*I actually like Eltharion.* He is a powerful mage who is still a solid fighter. The spell "flaming concave" (think it was that) sends in a line of fire that burns any battle line. Teclis can do this twice, Eltharion can do it as often as he wants to, what makes him more powerful in my view. His elite units are strong but balanced and get buffed by the faction skills of interrogated prisoners. "Groms Waaagh" for example makes his average swordsman quite powerful. In a battle they slaughtered over 100 Chaoswarriors - not bad. When you imprison a legendary lord, the faction is headless and much weaker. And he can give one out of 4 buffs to his heroes when they reached level 15. The mists of Yvress really hurt any army trying to invade Ulthuan. He can reduce the building time for garrison buildings down to 1, which is pretty gangster He can recruit global units in 1 term and his units heal for a few rounds after tearing down a greenskin settlement. After all, he is really cool !

So random lore note about Eltharion. In the End Times he gets killed by Arkhan the Black when Arkham uses the curse of years to literally disintergrate him. Then neither him or Nagash enslave his soul so his back in Age of Sigmar leading the newest Elven... sorry Aelven faction the Lumineth Realm Lords as a possessed suit of armor because Arkhans curse of years is still effecting him so anybody his soul gets put in gets reduced to dust. Also in the End Times after dying, as a ghost he gave his living family members his sword to carry on his legacy but they get killed two books later because they didn't like having a Dark Elf High King.
