The Darkling deserves a redemption arc like Zuko's.

Ok let’s slow down a little- I’m team Darklina so I’d be down for a redemption or corruption arc but Zuko and the Darkling are on a completely different spectrum of “evil”. Zuko was an abused child sent on a wild goose chase whose wrongdoings could be totaled up as “immature, desperate for love but in comparison to the rest not all that terrible.” The Darkling is actually a centuries old grisha out here massacring cities full of innocents even if it is for a somewhat justifiable cause. Zuko’s arc worked precisely because he wasn’t the big dog of being bad in ATLA, and even then he had to work his ass off and struggle immensely to reach his final form. Again,, I would love to see any solid writing that ends in Darklina but Zuko and Aleksander are in no capacity the same.

@@playhouseofcardsatmyfunera5305 first off, nice username 😂 I totally agree with you on that point, but what I meant was a midway gray characterisation, cause the show does portray the Darkling a bit differently. I would really like to see him choose Alina over the grisha, even if he doesn't really become a good character, just choosing her over everyone else, ya know ? My redemption arc wouldn't necessarily be him becoming good, I want a redemption arc for the Darkling in Alina's eyes for their relationship.... Where he makes himself worthy in her eyes and wouldn't use her for her power anymore. Edit: what I basically meant was, he deserved a redemption arc as well written as Zuko's, and it doesn't necessarily have to be him becoming good, just him being able to redeem himself in Alina's t

I just want Darklina end game and I honestly feel like the most interesting way it could come together (no matter how improbable) would be a well-done corruption arc for Alina and Redemption arc for the Darkling where by the end they meet halfway, both as morally grey characters. Gonna be hella sad if they stick close to canon and finish off with Malina tho, nothing against Mal the pairing is just bland and boring imo 😩

Then there should be little bit bad in her and a little good in him. Yin Yang are not just opposites. So, far he seems to be only a power hungry man who is delusional about his motives and not to forget, he tried to enslave her - literally gave her a collar so he can control her body. That's abusive.

@@meemr1479 lol, I don't ship them. I would love Elina to be alone and strong, she is a saint with such powers, its pity to see her settle for some Villain or someone like Mal too. No offence to anyone who ships either of them, I just feel a lot of powerful heroines get stuck in love triangles and stories become more about that instead of her.

Sure she would had a different perception of Kirigan and his motives if he had told her everything about HIS BACKSTORY. Not only the part that Bragha explained to her. I mean of course Alina wouldn't accept to be part of his plan knowing she was betrayed and lied to.
