Great video ! Very interesting technique of building it ''upside down'' and weaving the willows. I would like to try this sometime. Thanks for sharing ! Great little boat to build for ferrying or crossing small bodies of water. Seems like a project one could easily complete in 1 single day. Cheers !

I just bought a book about making coracles, then I saw this, starring the same and very Sean Hellman!

I was all thinking "I could make that!" right up till he capsized.

he capsized on purpose, trust me a well made coracle is way more stable than that. Not exactly well built either (i've built a fair few)

Wonderfully informative video, how do you determine what length, width, and depth to make it?

i am sure they sell them online someplace, though you aren't required to use willow there are other designs.

First principal of coracle building: the bottom has to be flat, not round, otherwise it just rolls over.

Pibydd ye, I saw this in a old Primitive skills magazine too, they'd have it upside down and put a large board on it with weights to flatten it out. They can vary in size quite a bit as well. I'd say luggage at the bottom would help bring the tipping point down.
