On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the implementation of Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum, H.E. Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Prefect of the Papal Household and Secretary to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, celebrated Solemn Vespers at the Basilica Sancti Marci in Rome. The event on the 14th of September, Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, opened the annual Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage of 2017.

Change was forced on us post Vatican 2. As Cardinal Ottaviani said at the time of formulating the Novus Ordo Missae,"the faithful never, absolutely never, asked for the liturgy to be changed or mutilated to make it easier to understand." He also warned that the Novus Ordo represents both as a whole, and in details a striking departure from the Catholic theology of the Mass as it was formulated in session 22 of the Council of Trent."

Beautiful prayer and chants! I remember there were over 100 priests and monks that night for Vespers and standing room only at the back of the basilica. Attending the pilgrimage were some of best days of my life. Thank you to all.

The churches in Rome are so beautiful. Been to many of them now. It's a city that makes you want to be faithful to the faith. And when you remember the saints that lived there...st Fillip Neri, and st Francis who visited te pope and others...amazing

St. Philip Neri is one of my favourite saints who founded religious orders. Ever gentle and kind hearted like St Francis of Sales. Both had an empathy with the weakness of our human nature and also sought to encourage those who were finding it hard to keep getting up when they fell.

Is so beautiful, I don't understand why Pope Francis promise one thing and changed his mind. Latin is the language of the Catholic Church. Archbishop Ganswein was really trying to bring the beauty back. After the dead of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, many things are changing for the Archbishop and others who wanted changes in the Church. After so many years of service and dedication not only to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI , but also to Pope Francis , Archbishop Ganswein is in very difficult position and with the release of his latest book . Nothing But the Truth, my life with Pope Benedict. I don't know what is going to happen to Archbishop Ganswein, but I believe he will be transfer somewhere outside Rome. It' all so SAD.

According to "Die Zeit," a German newspaper, a letter was sent to Archbishop Gänswein on the day of Pope Benedict's funeral. The letter states that he must move out of the Mater Ecclesiae monastery (the retreat home in which he & Pope Benedict lived) by February 1st. The letter was personally signed by Pope Francis.

Because he says what thinking about Benedettos way to be Papa and his own way watching the way of catholic church today he will not be tolerated much longer in the Vatican, I think. He is a student of Benedict and a both conservative and modern thinker. May faith give him the support and protection this man of deep faith really needs. May good people around him watch over Georg Gänswein's health.

He will be silenced in the name of obedience to Pope Francis. You might remember that Cardinal Ottaviani later withdrew his objection to the new Mass. Now why do you think that was when he had made such a strong case against the Novus Ordo Missae. The pressure was put on him to support the Pope VI who wanted to change it to make it theologically less unacceptable to the Anglican and Lutheran Churches and others.

This time we must fight and not be cowed into obedience like we were when the novus ordo Mass was introduced into my parish on the Feast of Christ the King in October 1969. After Mass a group of us gathered outside our church stunned, bewildered with some crying tears at what they have done to the Holy Mass. It took the priest to come out and call for obedience to the Pope to prevent it becoming unpleasant.

I do not believe there is anything wrong in celebrating Vespers in Latin. There are many Religious Houses around the world that do that. The problem is celebrating the Tridentine Rite especially by such a high profile Archbishop in the Vatican. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI should insist he does not do that, I am sure that when Papa Francisco has celebrated Vespers i St Peters it is in Latin??

Patrick you're crazy dude. Honestly I like the current Mass because I prefer it in English but the Extraordinary form of the Mass is wihtout a doubt much more reverant than the current Mass. The Ordinary Form of the Mass has much to learn from the Traditional Latin Mass. Why should it be scrapped? Should we scrap the Divine Liturgy and Holy Qurbana because they're not the Ordinary Mass?... cmon dude there's a lot of liturgical diversity in the Catholic Church, as the name CATHOLIC implies.

هل هولاء رجال دين صالحين ويعبدون الله الخالق العظيم ويحرمون ما حرمه الله الخالق العظيم ، ام انهم ممثلون مخادعون وعصاة ومقترفين خطايا ومعاصي كبيرة ، ويضللون الناس ، بتاليه نبي الله المسيح عيسى بن مريم ، ليقولوا للمسيحيين ؛ اعبدوا هذا الوثن والصنم الذي على الصليب فهذا هو المسيح يسوع هو الاله الظاهر في الجسد وهذا هو الإله الثالوث الاب والابن وروح القدس الها واحدا وامهم مريم العذراء وجدتهم ام مريم وحدهم ابو مريم ، الذي اعدمته الصهيونية على مذبح المجرمين على الصليب بين واللصوص والحرامية ، فقدسوه ومجدوه وسبحوه واطلبوا منه الغفران من هذا الانسان الذي تم صلبه وله شعر طويل ولحية طويله وعلى راسه تاج الشوك والحسك الذليل المهان المطئطيء الراس فهذا هو الله فاعبدوه وكتابكم المقدس هو كتاب العهد الجديد الذي كتبه شياطين الصهيونية ومع شياطين الجن ..{فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ} [البقرة : 79] صدق الله العظيم فالجميع يخدع نفسه ويضحك على نفسه ،لان ثمن هذا الضلال وهذا الكفر هو الجحيم الابدي ولا منقذ.. {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَىٰ مِن بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنَّاهُ لِلنَّاسِ فِي الْكِتَابِ ۙ أُولَٰئِكَ يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللَّاعِنُونَ (159) إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَأَصْلَحُوا وَبَيَّنُوا فَأُولَٰئِكَ أَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَأَنَا التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ (160) إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ أُولَٰئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ (161) خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ (162)} [البقرة ] صدق الله العظيم {الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالْأَغْلَالَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ مَعَهُ ۙ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ} [الأعراف ١٥٧] صدق الله العظيم {يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا كُنتُمْ تُخْفُونَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَعْفُو عَن كَثِيرٍ ۚ قَدْ جَاءَكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَابٌ مُّبِينٌ (15) يَهْدِي بِهِ اللَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهُ سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ وَيُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ (16)} [المائدة ] صدق الله العظيم {الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِالْكِتَابِ وَبِمَا أَرْسَلْنَا بِهِ رُسُلَنَا ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ (70) إِذِ الْأَغْلَالُ فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ وَالسَّلَاسِلُ يُسْحَبُونَ (71) فِي الْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي النَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ (72) ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ (73) مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ ۖ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُو مِن قَبْلُ شَيْئًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ الْكَافِرِينَ (74)} [غافر ] صدق الله العظيم {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ آمِنُوا بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهَا أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّا أَصْحَابَ السَّبْتِ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا (47) إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا (48)} [النساء ] صدق الله العظيم {وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ} [آل عمران٨٥] {وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَعَدْلًا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِهِ ۚ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ} [الأنعام : 115] صدق الله العظيم {وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ} [النساء : 14] صدق الله العظيم
