Short Documentary - Annual Traditional Latin Mass Pilgrimage to Rome - People of Summorum Pontificum

Celebrating 10 years of Summorum Pontificum. Deo gratias!
Each year, thousands of priests and faithful from around the world and of all walks of life journey to Rome for the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage in thanksgiving for H.H. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum.
"What earlier generations held as sacred remains sacred and great for us too." (Benedict XVI, Letter to the Bishops accompanying Summorum Pontificum, 2007).
Each year, since 2012, the Cœtus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum has gathered thousands of faithful and priests who are devoted to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (the traditional Latin or Gregorian Mass, celebrated according to the 1962 Missal of Pope Saint John XXIII) to show their desire to take part in the new evangelization. With the assistance of the personal FSSP parish of Santissima Trinita dei Pellegrini, the participants become witnesses of the eternal youth of the traditional liturgy. On Saturday, after Eucharistic adoration and a procession through the streets of the Eternal City, a Solemn Pontifical High Mass is celebrated at St. Peter's Basilica, at the altar of the Chair of St. Peter.
In 2017, for the 10th anniversary of Pope Benedict’s Motu Proprio, the pilgrimage exceptionally began on Thursday, September 14th, with Pontifical Vespers celebrated in the Basilica of San Marco Evangelista al Campidoglio, by H.E. Abp. Georg Gänswein, Prefect of the Papal Household. H.E. Archbishop Guido Pozzo of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei offered the Mass at the Chair of St. Peter at St. Peters Basilica after the news of the death of His Eminence Cardinal Caffara who was scheduled to offer the Mass. Msgr. Wach of the Instutute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest offered Mass in memory of His Eminence Cardinal Caffara at Sta. Maria Sopra Minerva on the prior evening. H.Em. Cardinal Sarah, H.Em. Cardinal Müller, and H.Em. Cardinal Brandmüller also participated in the conference/pilgrimage.
The celebrant for 2012 was H.Em. Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, whereas in 2013 it was H.Em. Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos, prefect emeritus of the Congregation for Clergy, and H.Em. Cardinal Burke, then Prefect for the Apostolic Signatura, in 2014. In 2015, we had H.E. Bishop Laise, O.F.M.Cap., emeritus of San Luis (Argentina) while H.E. Abp. Negri, now emeritus of Ferrara-Comacchio, delivered the homily. In 2016, H.E. Abp. Alexander K. Sample, of Portland (Oregon), celebrated while the sermon was delivered by H.Em. Cardinal Levada, Prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
In 2018, the Solemn Pontifical High Mass will be offered by H.E. Bishop Kozon of Copenhagen. The pilgrimage is placed under the protection of St. Philip Neri. A program of this year's events is available online!
