Congrats! If the Maccabees are paralleled by the Society of St. Pius X for resisting the changes in worship, if Mathathias is paralleled by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre for his call to go back to the traditions of the fathers, and if Modin in the hills of Judea is paralleled by Écône in the Alps for being a spiritual refuge and the place where the leader of the resistance was buried, what is paralleled then by the new form of sacrifice they rejected, a sacrifice offered in the new altar that was built over against the original altar? And who is paralleled by Antiochus, king over Jerusalem who changed the traditions and old practices of the faith, outlawing the traditional sacrifice and seeking to dissuade those who kept the old ways?

At times, not everything is paralleled. Remember that in the old testament, the lamb to be slaughtered was paralleled to be Jesus. But there's no way it was stated that the lamb will have twelve Apostles with one as a betrayer. I believe the scripture only give the major reference, leaving the rest to showcase itself.

This fact arises from the very nature of typology: in any given foreshadowing, there will be points of similarity and dissimilarity. But note that in the present case, there are several robust parallels. And then the parallels cease "just like that" when it gets to the challenging parts? Or, to put it another way: one can point to the similarities between even lateral points in common between the stories of the SSPX and the Maccabees but when it comes to the very crux of that typology - the illegitimate new sacrifice that gives rise to the resistance - then we suddenly refuse to be led to the implications that flow from the parallelism? It is like comparing Christ to the Old Testament lamb because both are docile and silent when they approach their final moments while refusing to acknowledge the central fact: namely, that with both the lamb and Our Lord, it is a *sacrifice* being offered. Similarly, in the case of Lefebvre and Mathatias, the main point in common is that both resist precisely because a novel and *unacceptable* oblation is being made.
