Archbishop MacDonald spoke to graduate students in Carleton University's Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (MPNL) program on June 3, 2021, about living in in Alaska and among the Navajo, in southwest US, during a time when they didn't have extensive contact with non-Indigenous people. He saw systems of care, compassion and sharing that are remarkable -- and that are part of the way that the Navajo people are brought up to see things. This is in contrast to non-Indigenous systems that involve teaching ethical imperatives about care, compassion and sharing.
