This is probably one of the best Ordination Mass that I have seen. I actually watched the whole thing twice! I've been discerning my call to the priesthood after watching this video a year ago and it's great to see how young and happy they are. This Mass has inspired me to try a different path and I believe now that God is calling me to be a priest. I'm 21 now and currently applying to enter into the seminary this Fall. I never wanted to be a priest before but I just feel that this is my calling. Please pray for me and for more vocations to religious life. God bless you all :) Thanks for this beautiful celebration.

Congratulations on the New Ordained Priests. May the Holy Spirit guide and protect them in there Daily Ministries and to the Flock of Congregations where ever they are assigned to. I very much Like his Eminence Cardinal Wuerl. His Eminence is a very true down to earth Priest/Cardinal who is excited to be amongst the congregation, all the Priests, Associate Bishops, Monsieur, Altar Servers. He a very kind person and he Loves Ordination very much. It does not matter how many Deacons are getting Ordained Priests, His Eminence loves to bring in new fresh minds and souls into the priesthood. May God Bless everyone.

I live in the UK and last time I was in Washington I was asked to pray for Stephen Wyble, one of these eight, described to me as a 'wonderful young man'. This has to be just about the most moving thing I have ever watched- talk about 'the beauty of holiness' and how I wish I had a way of contacting him to assure him,even as a perfect stranger of support from the UK. This is a video to treasure.

The music is gorgeous. That Entrance Hymn would cause the goosebumps to tingle. I recall my time at Maynooth University (Ireland) and the rich liturgical music emanating from the Seminary Chapel. That was thanks to our national 'liturgical musician' treasure, Dr. John O'Keeffe. It's probably why Pope Francis knighted him, along with his protege, Ronan McDonagh, who is another fabulous contributor to the Celtic fusion of liturgical music. But it does bring focus to the very essence of the impact of music in the liturgy. Whether it be modern or classical, I feel that there is an internal sense of emotion in rich-quality church music.

AMEN.

The organ prelude was Prelude in E flat Major, BWV 552 (from the Clavier-Ubung III), composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).

I cannot find out much about the hymn at the procession other than the name of it is Lauda, Jerusalem. The words of the refrain are: Lauda, Jerusalem, Dominum Lauda Deum tuum Sion, Hosana, Hosana, Hosana Filio David. which roughly translate to: Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem, Praise your God, O Zion. Hosana to the Son of David.

Why are they sining Psalm 110:4, and Hebrews 5:6 (passages that are refering to Yeshua, not men or women) out of context? I'm talking about 1:56:34 into the video.
@StevenRabanal19978 жыл бұрын
Because they also apply to all priests.
@michaelcaza-schonberger92828 жыл бұрын
OrlandoMusic prove it, the texts are pretty clear that the verses are only to do with Messiah Yeshua! Scripture is quite clear, we are all priests (1 Peter 2). If the office of priest was a true office in the church we'd see this in Scripture, but we don't. The offices of church leadership are: deacons Elders Shepherds (Bishops/Pastors) (Titus and 1 Timothy teach us this).

How is the final song called? :)
@shababgeg8 жыл бұрын
Oh God beyond all praising by Anglican minister Michael Perry. It was set to the 'Thaxted' tune, adapted from Gustav Holst's Jupiter movement from his famous 'Planets' suite. Holst himself adapted the tune originally to a patriotic English poem just after WWI, creating the much loved British hymn, 'I vow to thee my country', often played at British state occasions notably the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales. This version was written by Michael Perry in the early 80s.

@larikipe9407 жыл бұрын
The hymn at the recession was "O God Beyond All Praising", by Michael Perry. The hymn tune, however, is called THAXTED, composed by Gustav Holst and was originally the middle section of the "Jupiter" movement in his orchestral suite, "The Planets". This melody is also sung in Great Britain to the words "I Vow to Thee, My Country", a British patriotic poem written by Sir Cecil Spring Rice.
